Raymond's Fried Delights | | 雷曼煎炒美食 Pasir Panjang

A visit to Raymond’s Fried Delights for some classic local staples from fragrant Fried Hokkien Mee to crispy Fried Oyster Omelette and comforting Fried Carrot Cake, all done the old-school way.

Raymond's Fried Delight

A satisfying plate of Fried Pork Hokkien Sotong Mee featuring a good mix of thick bee hoon and yellow noodles, thoroughly soaked in a robust, flavourful stock. The umami notes and distinct wok hei elevated the dish beautifully. Topped with eggs, pork, prawns, squid, and chives, it was both hearty and comforting. The sambal chilli on the side added a nice kick without overpowering the overall flavours.

The Crispy White Carrot Cake was a pleasant surprise. While I’m usually not a fan of the white version, this one stood out the preserved radish added a delightful crunch and subtle sweetness, elevating both the flavour and texture of this otherwise simple dish.

The rectangular pieces of carrot cake were generously coated with fragrant egg, bringing out a natural sweetness in every bite. Crisp on the edges yet soft within, it definitely changed my perspective on white carrot cake.

Classic Orh Luak 金典蚝煎- $6

The Classic Orh Luak was fried in a sambal-based style, yet surprisingly not spicy. Despite sitting on the table for a while, the dish retained its enjoyable texture, with the oysters remaining plump and the egg nicely crisped. A side of tangy chilli was also provided, allowing you to adjust the flavours to your liking.

Having tried three dishes from their menu, I found them satisfying and above average, a solid spot for comforting local favourites done right.
