PPB X London Fat Duck

Ushering in the Chinese New Year of the Horse, PasirPanjangBoys partners London Fat Duck to present a thoughtfully curated Chinese New Year Festive Menu. This collaboration celebrates Peranakan heritage and local flavours, bringing together comforting and celebratory dishes designed for reunion, abundance, and sharing, perfect for the festive season.

The PasirPanjangBoys Chinese New Year Set, priced at $248, features a well-balanced lineup of festive favourites: Scallop Ngoh Hiang, Huat Huat Babi Pongteh, Itek Sio London Duck, and the ever-essential Prosperity Fruity Yu Sheng.

London Fat Duck

As we celebrate this auspicious occasion, Yu Sheng remains a quintessential highlight of the season. The Prosperity Fruity Yu Sheng is a vibrant and auspicious creation, showcasing crisp vegetables and multi-coloured fruits thoughtfully arranged to form layers of texture. Beyond its visual appeal, the dish carries a natural fragrance that elevates the overall experience. Aromatic ginger flower and lemongrass lift the flavours beautifully, symbolising prosperity, harmony, good health, and new beginnings for the Year of the Horse.

Properity Fruity Yu Sheng - $58

Here’s the classic Babi Pongteh, featuring generous chunks of pork belly slowly cooked until beautifully tender and richly flavoured. The savoury gravy is deeply infused with fermented soybean paste, gula melaka, onions, and aromatic spices, creating a well-rounded balance of sweetness and umami.

What we especially loved was the addition of creamy yam, which brought a soft, melt-in-the-mouth texture that complemented the richness of the pork perfectly. Every spoonful felt comforting and luxurious, a true indulgence and a timeless Peranakan favourite.

Huat Huat Babi Pongteh - $58

Taking centre stage on the festive table is the collaborative signature London Duck, jointly presented by London Fat Duck and PasirPanjangBoys. This standout dish marries London Fat Duck’s signature richness with the deep, aromatic character of the traditional Peranakan Itek Sio, creating a harmonious balance of flavour and heritage.

Itek Sio London Duck - $138

Prepared using premium Irish duck, the texture stood out immediately, noticeably more tender and succulent compared to the usual duck varieties. The duck is patiently braised, allowing the essence of the spices, fermented elements, and aromatics to fully permeate the meat. Each bite carries layers of savoury depth, gently spiced yet comforting, with flavours that linger pleasantly on the palate.

The rich braising sauce ties everything together, making it an undeniably satisfying and homely dish. As a festive centrepiece, the London Duck not only embodies indulgence but also reflects the spirit of reunion and abundance, perfect for sharing during the Chinese New Year celebrations.

Yummy

Featuring the handmade Ngoh Hiang, each roll is thoughtfully prepared with fresh pork and generous chunks of scallop meat, complemented by chestnut that adds a delightful crisp crunch. Every piece is beautifully cooked to a golden-brown finish, releasing an inviting aroma upon serving.

Scallop Ngoh Hiang - $28

The fillings are fragrant, plump, and well-balanced, with the scallop meat standing out for its natural sweetness and succulent bite, a truly laudable touch. Dipping it into the accompanying sweet sauce further elevates the flavours, adding a gentle contrast that rounds off each mouthful perfectly.

Du Du Yue Cai 嘟嘟粤菜

The striking romantic pink signboard and matching pink menu have been making waves on social media. Du Du Yue Cai, located in Eunos, now occupies the former space of Hae! Claypot @ Eunos (Prawn & Lala). Interestingly, it’s still helmed by the same owner, just with a refreshed direction. As the hotpot/steamboat trend slowly cools off, they have pivoted to serving comforting Cantonese cuisine instead

Du Du Cantonese Cuisine

Enjoy Guangzhou’s Top 26 award-winning authentic Cantonese cuisine. Savour three years’ worth of celebrated flavours, crafted with the heartbeat of home including Singapore’s first Crispy Orh Luak

They are also encouraging diners to join their membership programme, where you can enjoy exclusive perks from birthday rewards to member-only prices and more.

Membership Perks

Since it’s highly raved about, we ordered their Singapore’s 1st Crispy Orh Luak. Served in a pan, it came with generous oysters layered over an ultra-thin, crispy egg base.

Singapore 1st Crispy Orh Luak 新加坡首创酥脆蚝煎 - $19.80 / $23.80

The pairing of the crispy egg base with the soft, plump oysters created a delightful contrast in texture. The dish’s presentation was lifted with a sprinkle of chopped spring onions, adding a pop of colour.

Du Du's Recommendation

The dishes were served in rustic earthen claypots. We tried the beef strips with Japanese sauce, and the flavours were spot on, a fragrant mix of chilli, spring onions, onions, and garlic. Each piece of meat was well coated and thoroughly infused with its savoury marinade.

Beef Strips with Japanese Sauce 日式牛肋条 - $21.80 / $24.80

Another highly raved item is the Baked Yellow Croaker Fish with Lantern Chilli. The preparation with lantern chilli gave it a wonderful depth of flavour, and we thoroughly enjoyed the tender, delicate flesh of the fish.

Baked Yellow Croaker Fish with Lantern Chilli 灯笼椒焗黄花鱼 - $33.80 / $39.90

Pork Collagen Soup with Lotus Roots & Peanuts sounded close to heart, reminiscent of comforting dishes from mum’s kitchen. While the ingredients were ample, the flavour fell short for me as the soup tasted rather bland.

Pork Collagen Soup with Lotus Roots & Peanuts 胶原花生莲藕汤 - $20.90 / $24.90

The Creamy Salted Egg Corn came as a pleasant surprise. The glistening coating on each kernel immediately caught my eye, and the flavour turned out to be incredibly addictive. The golden-yellow corn was cut into smaller sections along the stem, making it easy to enjoy while soaking up all that rich, savoury salted egg goodness.

Creamy Salted Egg Corn 奶油咸蛋皇玉米 - $9.60 / $10.90

The Pork Trotter Vinegar was genuinely satisfying. Its sweet and tangy gravy paired perfectly with a bowl of rice, making it incredibly comforting. The pork trotters were braised and simmered until tender, soaking up all the rich flavours. A hearty dish that not only warms the soul but also gives you a good dose of collagen.

Pork Trotter Vinegar 猪脚醋 - $13.80 / $16.80

With the selection of dishes we picked from the menu, it felt like a fresh and interesting way to enjoy zi char together. Gathering around these claypot and Cantonese dishes made the experience even more special, especially when shared with friends and family.

Our Order

The dishes were served impressively fast, arriving one by one in quick succession. Just as we were settling in and enjoying our dinner, the staff surprised us with a small glass of chilled green bean soup for each of us, a thoughtful and refreshing touch to end the meal.

Hae! Claypot @ Eunos (Prawn & LALA)

It was my first time at Hae! Claypot, and I found the name quite endearing. “Hae” is the Hokkien word for prawn, and it’s a fitting tribute to one of their star ingredients. A playful, local touch that sets the tone for the hearty, comforting meal that follows.

Hae! Claypot

They are currently promoting their Lala (Clams) Steamboat at just $12.80 nett, an incredibly wallet-friendly deal for such freshness and flavour.

Lala (Clams) Steamboat at only $12.80 Nett

Housed within an industrial canteen, Enjoy Hae! occupies a relatively spacious unit, you definitely won’t miss it. Their striking orange signboard stands out boldly, catching the eye even from afar.

Stall of Hae! Prawn Claypot

Lala lovers, this one's for you! Enjoy Hae!’s Lala (Clams) Steamboat is an absolute steal at just $12.80 nett. The clams are incredibly fresh, you can even see them live at the front of the stall. For a price like that, the portion is surprisingly generous, making it a great value treat for seafood fans!

Lala Hotpot

Having visited quite a number of lala hotpot spots, I’ve never come across a stall that offers Superior Golden Fungus and that’s exactly what caught our eye. It’s not something you would typically expect in a humble lala steamboat setup, and it definitely added a unique touch to the experience.

Superior Golden Fungus

While at Enjoy Hae!, skipping their fresh tiger prawns was simply not an option. By default, they’re part of the experience, big, plump, and naturally sweet; they were a perfect addition to our bubbling hotpot.

Fresh Tiger Prawn

The lala was generously portioned, glistening beautifully under the gentle glow of the charcoal fire. With the simple yet effective pairing of ginger and fresh clams, the broth turned out clean, vibrant, and naturally delicious, letting the ingredients speak for themselves.

Lala

One of the things we appreciated about Enjoy Hae!’s claypot experience is the thoughtful touch of having a glass bottle of Hua Diao wine at every table by default. You are free to add it to your broth according to your own preference, which really elevates the flavour.

Beyond the fresh tiger prawns and the rare find of Superior Golden Fungus, we were pleasantly surprised to see luffa, a refreshing and tender addition that you don’t often come across at typical hotpot places.

Hae!

We were so glad that the lala were clean and delicious, with no trace of sand or grit in the shells a common concern that was completely absent here. The broth was naturally flavourful, soaking up the sweetness of the clams beautifully and making every sip a comforting delight.

Lala

Aside from their signature lala broth, Enjoy Hae! also offers the option to top up with collagen broth or prawn broth, giving you the flexibility to customise the base to your liking. Whether you’re in the mood for something richer or more nourishing, there's something for every palate.

With Broth

Upon opening the S’mores Kit, we were greeted by a delightful cart from HAE!, about the size of a postcard, complete with step-by-step instructions on how to build our s’mores.

Card from Smore's Kit

Instructions

The box contains a few Dairy Milk chocolates, butter crackers, and a packet of marshmallows—everything we needed to have some post-meal fun.

In the Smores Kit

We thought it was a clever touch, making use of the lingering charcoal heat after the meal by skewering soft marshmallows onto satay sticks. The gentle warmth from the charcoal gave the marshmallows a perfectly toasted finish, adding a fun and unexpectedly delightful end to our dining experience.

BBQ-ing the Marshmallow

To top it all off, we sandwiched the warm, melty marshmallows between butter crackers and a square of chocolate, creating a simple yet indulgent treat. The contrast of textures and flavors was spot on, making for such a fun and satisfying end to the experience.

Look into this Claypot Curry Fish! It is doused in a piping hot pool of thick and flavourful curry gravy. This would be a comforting and perfect dish, especially on a rainy day.

Claypot Curry Fish 招牌砂锅咖喱鱼 - $38

We opted for the Fish Meat instead of Fish Head. I'm sold by the first taste of the curry gravy. It was not spicy and in fact, the taste was inviting and perfect to drench on our plate of plain white rice.

Yummy Curry Fish

Other than serving Claypot Curry Fish dishes, Yu Cun is also serves a good variety of seafood and meat delicacies that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

We shared the seafood beancurd, it was savoury and topped with chicken floss as well as mayonnaise.

Seafood Beancurd with Chicken Floss 肉松海鲜豆腐 - $14.90

The dish has rich and savoury flavour with a hint of sweetness from the sugar and a subtle aroma from the five-spice powder. The texture was crispy and a yummy dish for sharing on the table.

Red Beancurd Fried Pork 南乳炸肉 - $16.90

Washing down our yummy meal with this  Buah Long Long Drink. Refreshing and Satisfying.

Tai Mei Wei SingPost Center

Tai Mei Wei is located at the Basement One of SingPost Center, just in front of the escalator. They are selling Taiwanese Bentos and Snack.

Tai Mei Wei

We made sure our orders were served promptly. The packaging was cute, and illustrated by cartoon characters.

Our Orders

A symphony of flavours and textures within a compact bowl. They offer different spicy levels for the Crispy Salted Chicken and we chose the original taste. The chunks were crispy on the outside and cradling a juicy meat. The bento meal consists of sunny-side eggs, preserved vegetables, mixed vegetables beans and Crispy Salted Chicken Chunks.

Indulging in the best of both worlds with this Double Happiness Bento. Besides the standard mixed vegetable beans, preserved vegetables fried egg, and Braised pork were aromatic and not greasy. The shredded chicken was juicy and topped with aromatic bits

Double Happiness Bento 双喜便当 - $6

Simply love the crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It strikes a perfect balance, providing a satisfying crunch that envelops the succulent mushroom within. This snack excels in flavour, leaving me for more.

We had their Wintermelon Bird Nest drink to pair with our meals. It was cooling and not too sweet.

Shi Wei Xian Hong Kong Tim Sum

This cheap and good Tim Sum place is known for its operating hours for they are just opened 2 days a week. They are opened only during Saturdays and Sundays in one corner of the coffeeshop.

Shi Wei Xian Hong Kong Tim Sum

Menu was rather straight forward and items are mostly illustrated on their signboard. With a limitation of 26 items on the Tim Sum Menu, its already good enough for the folks to get busy in the kitchen.

Ordering Chit

Yuan Yang Chee Cheong Fun is a best of both world when one cant decide to choose between Char Siu or Prawns. These smooth & warm sheets of rice roll was thin and had the fillings encased. The sauce that based the dish was tasty.

Yuan Yang Chee Cheong Fun 鸳鸯香港猪肠粉 - $4

I'm quite impressed by the 3 small cakes of carrot cake that were pan fried and came with bite chunks within. The external layer had a tad crisp with charred edges and the bite texture was soft.

Carrot Cake 萝卜糕 (3pcs) - $4.50

Porridge is of small portion of and the texture consistency was perfect. The taste fits me.

Century Egg Pork Porridge 皮蛋瘦肉粥 - $2.20

The Crab Meat Siew Mai did not have any distinguishable taste nor pieces of crab meat within. Nonetheless, its texture was succulent, packed of meat and not very greasy

Beancurd Sheet Roll 豪皇鲜竹卷, Bean Sauce Chicken Feet 豉汁蒸凤爪,Crab Meat Siew Mai 蟹皇蒸烧卖 - $4.20,$4, $4.20

The crispy Ngoh Hiang Chicken Roll was delicious and comes 3 in a plate.

Fried Ngoh Hiang Chicken Roll 五香炸鸡圈 - $4.50

The Char Siew Bun was fluffy and soft in its skin with sweet tasty chopped meat fillings.

Char Siew Pau 叉烧包 - $1.20

I overheard some angry commotions in the kitchen between the counterparts. I begin to wonder if this is the reason behind the short operating hours?

In conclusion, their Dim Sum fares above the average one for the freshness and taste.
