We couldn't resist those adorable iced beverages, particularly when the coffee comes with a bear-shaped ice cube sitting at the top of the glass. As the bear slowly melts away, it adds a charming touch to the drink, gradually infusing the coffee with a bit of extra flavour as it sinks into the room-temperature beverage. It’s a delightful and playful way to enjoy a refreshing drink!

The Iced Milo Dinosaur certainly has its own charm, looking like it's enjoying a “mud bath” in the glass. The rich Milo powder on top gradually mixes into the drink, creating a fun and visually appealing experience. Sipping down the drink and watching the Milo powder blend into the glass jar adds a playful touch to the enjoyment, making each sip even more satisfying.

Even though I’m not a fan of sambal, I really enjoy petai, and it seems these two often come together. I find myself picking out the petai over the prawns. The unique flavor of the petai, despite its occasional pairing with sambal, is a highlight that makes the dish enjoyable for me.

The oyster omelette turned out quite well. The oysters were plump and juicy, adding a nice texture and flavour to the dish. It was a satisfying and tasty option, enhancing the overall experience.

The Fried Rice Goreng Berempah is a standout dish featuring fragrant fried rice topped with fish roe. The highlight of the plate is the berempah chicken, which is deeply fried to achieve a perfect balance of spice and aroma. This chicken retains its juiciness while delivering a rich, flavorful experience with every bite. The combination of the savory fried rice and the aromatic, crispy chicken makes for a delicious and satisfying meal.

The Beef Hor Fun with Creamy Egg Sauce is a delicious new addition to Nanyang Dao’s menu. The portion is generous, with ample Hor fun noodles and tender beef slices. The star of the dish is the creamy egg sauce, which is sweet, rich, and utterly addictive. Its smooth texture coats the noodles perfectly, creating a comforting and flavorful dish that's sure to be a hit with diners looking for a satisfying meal.

Grabbing a box of their hometown pineapple tarts is a great choice! The box contains 20 pieces (10 packets), with each packet sealed for convenient consumption.

Gyoza San [Media Invite]

What an interesting concept of a takeaway kiosk for gyoza I thought. Gyoza-San freshly prepared their Gyozas daily and they are so specialized to the point that they have a gyoza-making machine.

Gyoza San

The packaging was neat, presentable and thoughtful for patrons to carry around.

Gyoza San

Never know that Gyoza can be done with an assortment of flavours. If you prefer the Thai taste, they do have Tom Yam Kung Gyoza and if you prefer the Korean style, the Kimchi Gyoza is available too. I guess to gauge the quality and standard of the Gyozas, I had to order their original. Boy! The Gyozas were juicy, and meaty, and come with black vinegar dip.

Gyoza San Original 秘制原味饺子 - $4.90 (6 Pcs)

Teriyaki Chicken Bento Set was served with rice, kimchi, Teriyaki Chicken and 3 original Gyozas. Each Bento comes with 3 Original Gyozas and if you will like to change the Gyozas Flavours, you can add $1 for it. The chicken is flavourful in its marinade which lends a touch of sweetness and tenderness.

Teriyaki Chicken x 3 Original Gyozas 日式鸡肉便当· - $7.90

A good thing about Gyoza San is that its Halal and all Gyozas fillings are made up of minced chicken..

Lian Huat Seafood

During the Covid period, I get to know of Lian Huat Seafood for there are so many live streams on their quality and fresh seafood. They are founded in 1988, starting as a premium seafood wholesaler.

While passing by the industrial coffeeshop the last round queuing up for Mirai-Ya, I have already decided that I should give their stall a try.

Its hard to miss out Lian Huat Seafood stall for the striking blue signage and the bright signage light caught everyone's attention upon looking into the coffeeshop. The queue, as usual, is always snaky.

Read on to check out what we ordered.

The double fish soup was cloudy and filled with generous ingredients like cabbages and tomato with some seaweed as well as spring onions. The broth is flavorful with hints of sole fish and for the sliced fish, Batang Fish was used.

Double Fish Soup 双鱼汤
Double Fish Soup 双鱼汤 - $7 (Small)

The fried fish was separated from the soup bowl. If you will like to have additional order of their Special Fried Fish, it will cost another $3 per bowl. Unlike the usual fish soup I had, these golden brown fried fish surface were more textural.

There were only 3 pieces of Batang Fish found in my bowl of Double Fish Soup. I thought that amount is rather miserable for a $7 bowl.

The Red Grouper Sliced Fish Soup was chunky and fresh.

If you will like to have additional fiery kick to these white meat, dipped into their sambal chilli with ikan bills.

The Deep Sea sliced grouper caught one of our attention and we decided to try it. The meat was slightly thicker and chunky.

We opted the Yam Rice to pair along with the bowls of fish soup. The Yam rice was sufficiently fragrant with mushrooms and cabbages but still lack a strong smell in it.

Taking in consideration that Lian Huat is a wholesaler, the quality and freshness of fish is no doubt remarkable but if the amount of fish can be increased, consumers like us will be happier too.

Sembawang Traditional Claypot Rice

Have been wanting to visit Sembawang Claypot Rice ever since my last visit to You Huak Restaurant as they were located nearby. Yes, that's a very long time before the pandemic period and I'm really glad that traditional food especially claypot rice stall pull through the trying time.

Traditional Claypot Rice

The medium portion of the Traditional Claypot Rice is recommended for 2 pax. The food in the earthen claypot was still giving out sizzling sound when it was being served to us. This Traditional Claypot rice was fragrant and ingredients include chicken, Chinese sausage, salted fish and vegetables. If you enjoy the rice crisp at the bottom of the pot, Sembawang Traditional Claypot Rice will hit you at the right spot!

Enjoy the rice with their chilli sauce or chilli padi given, that will be heavenly.

Traditional Claypot Rice - $15.80 (Medium)

Spinach with Salted and Century Egg soup was tasty. There were generous amount of soup with spinach soaked within. The  Salted egg and century egg taste had stroke a good balance, it was not overly salty.

Spinach With Salted & Century Egg Soup - $12.80

The Sambal Sotong was generously coated with sambal chilli sauce and frying together with chilli, tomato and onions had enhanced the taste of the dish.

Sambal Sotong - $16.80

Having Traditional food like this really warms my heart as well as stomach. It was a satisfying meal and if you are craving for some traditional food like Claypot Rice or Cze Char Dishes in Sembawang Area, they can be of a good choice.

Chong Pang Nasi Lemak

When we talk about Nasi Lemak, this legendary Nasi Lemak stall will alway come into our minds. Unlike Malay Nasi Lemak, Chinese Nasi Lemak let you choose the dishes you prefer. Nasi Lemak traditionally is another version of economic rice but having a slight difference in the style of rice served. On top of the fragrant white rice, you will get to smell coconut milk from them.

Though this place needs no introduction among the foodies and those who resides in the north side, Chong Pang Nasi Lemak is housed in a coffeeshop with just only its stall and a drink stall. Sittings are both indoors as well as outdoors.

Nasi Lemak
While one man is preparing the ordering and you can see a few of them still busying replenishing the food in the trays with freshly deep fried chicken wings / drumstick that is still dripping with oil.

Nasi Lemak
The chilli over here is tangy and give us the spicy kick. Chicken wings were marinated and lightly battered. I love the part where the skin is crunchy and even though it was very hot from the stove, we were still very satisfied with the juicy bite.

Having a few branches in parts of Singapore, the one in Sembawang would be their main branch. Thus, if you are in the area, do stop by for such indulgence.

You Huak Restaurant 友发餐室

If you have eaten White Been Hoon, you will probably hear of Sembawang's famous White Bee Hoon which is located among the shop houses opposite Sembawang Shopping Centre.

You Huak Restaurant serves Zi Char food beside the well known White Bee Hoon You Huak.

The interior dining was spacious and neat packed with customers eagerly waiting for their plate of Bee Hoon and items ordered.

Payment of drinks is due when it was served and was separated from the food order. We had Ai yu, ice lemon tea and barley for drinks and desserts.

Desserts and Drinks, Ai Yu Jelly, Ice Lemon Tea and Barley - $5
The favour was same as what I had tried in malaysia just that the Ai Yu Jelly was a tad miserable. Other than that the taste striked a good balance of sweet and sour, very soothing to the throat.

Ai Yu Jelly

Recommended by the lady helper, we ordered one of their popular dishes, the Indonesia fried Chicken Wing. It came 3 in a plate, which breakdown to $2 per piece. Served while they were piping hot and came accentuate with hints of ginger. A look closer and you will notice the fine strands of shredded ginger attached to its golden brown chicken skin. I'm glad that it was not too oily. Though it looked dry outside, as a whole it was tasty. This plain looking dish has some sliced green Japanese cucumber when served.

Indonesia Fried Chicken Wing  (Small) - $6 (3 Pieces)
This is what most of us are here for! The first spoonful of bee hoon left me a "Hmmmm" feeling but not so much of the Wow factor.

The stock was delectable and was rich with seafood taste, I still can remember its sweetness and its generous serving of seafood with eggs scraps over the plate. Though it was already moist, I will recommend that if you can take some spice, remember to drench more chilli on your Bee Hoon as their chilli was quite "powerful".

Seafood White Beehoon (Medium) - $8
Onion Omelette was rather oily. However, if the amount of oil is too little, such golden brown yellow  color of the egg is hard to be achieved. Though it was fluffy, I would still prefer a greater amount of onions to be added.

Though the place was a bit far out from the MRT stations, there are actually free shuttles bus available from Yishun, Sembawang to SSC (Sembawang Shopping Centre). In my opinion, the White Bee Hoon is indeed worth a try.
