Timbre Signatures Cafe @ Kampung Siglap

Timbre Signature Café, nestled in the serene Kampung Siglap, offers a cosy retreat from the bustle of the city. Surrounded by leafy landed estates, this café combines a relaxed, rustic vibe with a menu of comforting bites and refreshing drinks, perfect for a laid-back brunch or an afternoon chill session.

The café’s interior exudes rustic charm, with yellow neon lights hanging across the ceiling and wall tiles that evoke the iconic look of a London subway station, giving the space a unique and cozy character.

To kick off our meal, we sipped on Thai Milk Tea and Ice Lychee Tea, refreshing choices that were pleasantly balanced and not overly sweet.

Thai Milk Tea & Ice Lychee Tea

Kicking off with Timbre Chicken Wings as sharing bites, the crispy fried brown chicken wings arrived in a basket with a side of chili sauce. While they looked slightly dry on the outside, we were pleased to find they weren’t oily and remained juicy on the inside.

Timbre Chicken Wing - $11.80

The Chicken Satay with Pineapple Sauce was lean and not overly oily.

Chicken Satay with Pineapple Satay Sauce - $13.80

The tangy pineapple sauce complemented the satay perfectly, and it came with sides of chopped onions, cucumbers, and pineapple for a refreshing touch.

Anyone who’s visited Timbre would likely have tried the Legendary Timbre Roasted Duck Pizza.

Legendary Timbre Roasted Duck - $23.50

Topped with a generous spread of roasted duck breast in hoisin sauce, melted mozzarella, and crispy wonton skins, it makes for a perfect sharing dish.

Grab a slice & Enjoy!

The Australia Angus Beef Ribeye Steak came with two sides, crispy fries and fresh greens. Diners can choose between red wine jus or black pepper sauce; we opted for the red wine jus, which was delightfully fragrant with hints of rosemary and thyme.

The New Zealand Lamb Rack arrived in three pieces, paired with fries and greens, and accompanied by the same red wine jus. While the lamb was slightly gamey and a bit on the tough side, it was overall still an enjoyable dish.

New Zealand Lamb Rack - $32.50

To end on a sweet note, we indulged in a warm double chocolate brownie. Moist, rich, and undeniably decadent, it was the perfect treat to wrap up our meal.

Warm Double Chocolate Brownie - $7.80

Overall, Timbre Signatures Café @ Kampung Siglap offers comforting meals in a charming hideout away from the bustle of the MRT stations. True to the well-loved Timbre brand, it continues to deliver familiar favorites in a unique, welcoming setting.

Hei Kim Cafe

Hei Kim Cafe was introduced to me when I won a $50 Dining voucher through XINDOTS weekly food photo contest. Hei Kim is located just a few minutes away from Kembangan MRT station. It is a lifestyle retail cum minimalist cafe.

Hei Kim

Hei Kim Cafe Menu
There's nothing fanciful about the decorations in the cafe. The place looks humble and old school to me with its Marble-top looking table and wooden chairs.

Interior
Scrambled egg on toast was nicely done up. One can opt to add Pesto aka Green Eggs on the toast at additional cost.

Scrambled Egg on Toast - $7
Ordering a cup of mocha is plain boring to us, thus we had it topped up with Iced Coffee at an additional $2. Mocha was strong and rich in taste but do not worry, as the sweetness is just alright without tasting bitterness.

Mocha with Coffee Ice - $7
We were looking for some hot beverages to pair up with our food. Our tea by the pot using Chrysanthemum & Goji was not a bad idea.

Tea by the pot - $5
The crispy duck thigh confit in duck fat was served on aligot with some rocket greens. The sauce tasted like pineapple puree. Although the dish was full of aroma when served, it was not up to my expectation as the confit was too dry on both its skin and the meat.

Duck Confit - $20
For those who are looking for some sour goodness, the Lemon Curd will be recommended.

Lemon Curd - $5
Each cake is baked inhouse. If you look at the cakes displayed through their glass chiller, you might be fighting over some emotional struggles on which one to order. We had the cake of the day, its rich in taste and big in size. It tasted not too bad afterall.

Cake of the Day - $9
Last but not least, here's our photo with most of our orders for the tea break.

Our Food
The ambiance of Hei Kim Cafe was perfect for someone who wants to pass their time by relaxing under the air-conditioned environment over some cafe food.  The place was so cozy and I can find myself slowing down physically without much stress. It seems an ideal place to enjoy some desserts and do some light reading. What's more, there are neither service charge nor GST required and these are the plus points for diners.

Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup

Popping by the East Side of Singapore and we got ourselves dinner at Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup. It has been a while since I visited them a few years back and I was surprised by how much they have expanded from just a stall front to a few in the same place.

Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup
Queue was unavoidable during peak period and to be honest parking around the vicinity is not an easy task though Free Parking is available.

Free Parking
Orders were quick to serve, although the soup may looked watery with spring and fried onions. The consistency of herbal taste is good. Rather, it was addictive and I would say there is a good "depth" in the soup.

Herbal Soup Mee Sua
Texture of Mee Sua was just right and was not too lumpy. I had totally enjoyed the simple tastes through the bowl of soup in mix pork.

Mee Sua
Portion was reasonable and lean meat was tender. Kidneys had been well handled leaving no trace of foul smell and what I like best was those thinly sliced livers that was not overly hard to bite on.

Mee Sua and Ingredients
Besides being famous for its kidney Mee Sua, they are quite famous for their Cze Char too.

Stirred Fried Vegetables with Garlic
Prawn paste chicken was notable, at least alot better than my last round of prawn paste chicken else where. Exterior was very crispy and at the same time also burning hot as they were just taken out of the oil pot. Just alone without the lime and belachan, they were good enough.

Prawn Paste Chicken
The settings of the eating place make me feel like dining in Malaysia although the currency conversation rate can't really match the comparison.  Overall, such specialty is rather unique in Singapore and they had maintained a reputable name throughout the years.

Vegan Burg

A night in the East side of Singapore had given us a chance to visit Vegan Burg in Jalan Eunos. With founders believing that plant-based diet is environmentally sustainable, they try to inspire and influence the world around with vegan diet into their lifestyle.

Vegan Burg
I particularly like the benches they had as it was decorated with faux grass patches. It really matches the theme of eating greens and ambiance created in Vegan Burg was like dining in the garden, a special kind of feeling like having a picnic.

Vegan Burg's Ordering Counter
The Advertisement splash on their wall had given another view towards having burger. If you think that having Fast Food is consider as junk food, perhaps you have to head down here and understand more about their burgers.

Think Fast Food Is Junk Food? Think Again.
Self service is observed in the restaurant and with the help of the buzzer system. Besides dining in Vegan Burg also offer services right to your doorsteps, in case you are craving for Fast Food and do not want to feel so sinful, this is another option for you.

Buzzer
There are 3 kinds of chiller available to choose from if you are having a set meal. They comes in three different color where by the green represents the Citrus cooler, the orange represents the mango sunrise and pink represents the passion fruit drink. However, there are no free flow of the chiller but you have to pay $1.40 per cup if you want it to be refilled.

Drinks
Interestingly, I would never have thought that my burger would be served in a mass tin with grease paper. Burgers and the choice of side was served in it. A good thing about the burger was that it was half wrapped and enable patrons to grab from the mass tin immediately and pop it into the mouth conveniently. Assorted vegetables were included in this vegan meal. For those who are not taking onions, their friendly service will ask if you want them before the burger preparation.

Seaweed fries on the other hand were special, they were fat and yummy. Though they were not that crispy like the common fast food joint, you can really taste the authentic use of potatoes in it.

Smoky BBQ Meal - $12.80
Tangy Tartar were half wrapped and standing vertically on the mass tin. Just like the Smoky BBQ burger, the buns came along with whole meal grains which is healthy.

Tangy Tartar Meal - $10.80
The regular shape patty had signs of dryness. From a non-vegetarian point of view, the burger with was pretty good even without the use of meat.

Tangy TarTar buger
Topping up my meal with their Granny's Soup. I was in luck during that day of visit as they purposely prepare this cup for me as their last batch of soup had sold out. The soup's texture was more like a paste but it was fragrant infused with herbs. Flavours of mushroom were adequate, a concentrate soup more than I have expected.

Granny's Soup - $2
Overall, it is a good experience having the so called "fast/junk" food turning into a healthy diet.

FFL Fresh Fruits Lab

With so many cafes popping up over this few years, how do they actually stand up among others beside the quality of food? FFL (Fresh Fruits Lab) differentiate themselves with a unique theme in their restaurant. Located in the East Region of Singapore,

Facade of FFL
Artistically theme with laboratory inspired environment with writable black board surface on its wall at the counter.

Black Board Surface
Take a look at the shelving at the side of the Lab and you will find interesting articles in each compartment.

Interior
I have not touched or seen any periodic table since I last had my chemistry lessons. Interestingly you may get to see one portion of their menu that was designed like the periodic table we used in science lesson. However, at a closer look, you will realize that its actually referring to the fruits.

Periodic Table
I like the concept where utensils were served in lab apparatus with fruit juice as welcoming drink held in test tubes as our welcoming drink. IT just reminded me of the school days where we were doing some practical lessons in the science lab. However, not to the extend of putting them into our mouths.

It was a good gesture of FFL to serve complimentary juices for tasting purposes and for those that are health conscious, you can order their fruit juices as an substitute to your soft drinks. As soon as we settled down they have served us with 2 kinds of juices in the test tubes namely: the cucumber orange and orange carrot.

Fruit Juices for Tasting
Besides serving the complimentary juices in test tubes, we were overwhelmed by the drinking water too, served in beakers. Have you ever drink anything from the beaker? For me I have not and that's my first time doing that.

Drinking water in Beaker
Even the utensils were placed in the tray. It felt as though some science experiment is starting soon.

Utensils

The ultimate drink for detox if this is what you are looking for. A mixture of fruit juice using lettuce, cucumber, spinach, lemon and apple, quite refreshing I felt.

Zesty Greens - $8
The hot and the ice mocha has a dollar difference in their pricing.

Ice Mocha - $7
I dont mind having anything messy like this especially when there were so many goodies on the plate. Scrambled eggs were truffle infused and were soft, good to pair along with their toasted english muffin, roasted sweet potatoes, bacon-wrapped pinepple, oxford sausages, roasted tomatoes and fruity salad.

Messy Breakfast - 17

Close up on the eggs
Soft and fluffy pancakes were infused with banana fragrance. It was topped with banana slices on a bed of apple paste. Drizzle them with some maple syrup and enjoy!

Bananalicious - $11
I find that apple and banana on pancakes taste not bad afterall.

Close up on Banana Pancakes
Initially we had ordered the lychee cake but had cancelled it due to that we have no more stomach room for desserts. What a miss!

Cakes Section
The location of FFL may be a little inconvience for some but I would say its not really inaccessible as it is still within walking distance from the MRT Station. As for those who are driving, parking lots are limited along the streets.
