Hitoyoshi Yakiniku

After passing by this place countless times, I finally made my way to Hitoyoshi Yakiniku, and it was totally worth the wait. The curated selection of high-quality meats, expertly grilled over the stove, was an absolute treat. Each bite of tender, flavorful meat was perfectly complemented by fresh accompaniments that elevated the entire experience. Definitely a place worth revisiting for anyone who appreciates top-notch yakiniku!

Hitoyoshi Yakiniku

For beverages, complement your meal with a refreshing drink from their menu, whether it’s the Calpis Selection, a smooth highball, or a chilled beer.

Strawberry Calpis

We had the Premium Beef Set ($188), ideal for 3–4 pax, featuring:
  • A5 Wagyu Tartare
  • A5 Wagyu Karubi (160g)
  • Australian Wagyu Karubi (180g)
  • Beef Rib (180g)
  • Beef Plate (180g)
  • Beef Tongue (170g)
  • Seafood Kimchi Soup or Clear Beef Soup
  • Nira Tama
  • Free flow lettuce & side vegetables
The premium cuts and fresh ingredients made it a delightful feast!

Nira Tama

The A5 Wagyu Tartare was a delight, rich, tender, and perfectly complemented by the crisp chips.

A5 Wagyu Tartare

Every bite was a burst of flavor and texture!

So yummy

So Good

The beef tongue was thinly sliced, beautifully marbled, and soaked in a flavorful marinade. Each bite was tender with a rich, buttery taste!

Beef Tounge (170g)

It was a fun and interactive grilling experience with my pals! The staff poured a bucket of ice into the BBQ pit and kept it running. We enjoyed the authentic self-service yakiniku, grilling over the stove while chatting with friends.

The platter of meat was a feast for the eyes — just look at that marbling! Each cut looked so enticing:

🥩 A5 Wagyu Karubi (160g)
🥩 Australian Wagyu Karubi (180g)
🥩 Beef Rib (180g)
🥩 Beef Plate (180g)

Grilling these beauties was pure satisfaction!

Plate

We preferred the Clear Beef Soup over the Seafood Kimchi Soup. It had a homely, comforting taste, light yet flavorful, perfect for warming the stomach.

Clear Beef Soup

We enjoyed the free-flow Banchan that comes with every Yakiniku set! Don’t miss their signature sides Tofu in Goma sauce, quail egg, crackers, veggies, potato salad, cabbage with goma, lotus root, beansprouts, and kimchi.

Free Flow Lettuce & Side Vegetables

They offers a memorable dining experience with its delectable selection of BBQ meats cooked right over the stove.

Stove with smoke

The smoky aroma fills the air as each piece of tender meat is carefully placed on the grill, allowing you to savor its rich, charred flavor.

I Cant Wait Any Longer

The meat is beautifully marbled, ensuring every bite is a juicy, melt-in-your-mouth delight.

Sauce

Whether it's the well-seasoned cuts of beef, succulent pork, or flavorful chicken, each variety is expertly cooked, giving it that perfect balance of smoky and savory goodness.

Delicious

The stove-top grilling adds a personal touch to the meal, letting you control the level of doneness, making it a fun, interactive experience.

Grilling

Perfectly complemented with dipping sauces and accompanied by a variety of sides, the BBQ meats at Hitoyoshi Yakiniku are an irresistible treat that promises a satisfying, flavorful meal every time.

Good

It’s an ideal place for a cozy meal with friends or family, where the food is as delightful as the atmosphere.

Meat

The croquette was wonderfully creamy on the inside and fried to a perfect golden crisp.

Croquette

We ended our meal on a sweet note with their popular ice cream selection. You can pick from Matcha, Black Sesame, or Vanilla from Japan. The Black Sesame was velvety, with just the right touch of sweetness.

Crazy Western Noodle House

A remote and quiet place in the industrial estate of Hillview serving Western and Noodle. While noodles are only available during the daytime, thus we usually order Western food. They also have a rice bowl too. The Menu was rather extensive.

Stall

There are 2 types of chicken chop, black pepper or mushroom and we chose the latter. The slab of chicken chop was well marinated and was served with a thin crispy layer thin. The meat was juicy with mushroom sauce separated. Sides like garden salad, butter corn kernels and potato wedges were served.

Mushroom Chicken Chop - $8.90

The Fish & Chips was kind of being raved on the Google review and let's give it a try. The layer of batter was soft yet crispy and the fish tasted above my expectation. At least it did not taste like that cheaper grade of fish fillet. It comes with Garden Salad as a side too.

Fish & Chips - $8.90

If you are hungry and have a bigger appetite, you may want to try out their mixed grill. We ordered the Chicken, Pork & Striploin Steak. It was served with potato wedges, and garden salad. The chicken and pork were very well marinated and the striploin steak portion was generous.

Mixed Grilled (Chicken & Pork & Striploin Steak) - $27.90

The herbs gave the tender meat add additional flavour and that style suits our tastebuds.

Yummy

I was craving for something creamy and rich, thus ordered a Steaky Bacon Carbonara. The spaghetti texture was Al Dente and carbonara always tasted best when served right away to enjoy the creamy sauce. The dish was topped with green parsley and egg. For my liking, I prefer that the Bacon can be a little bit crispier or fried.

Steaky Bacon Carbonara - $8.50

Having tried their Western Food from Tabao to dine in, I will want to make an attempt to return for the noodles.

Al Ameen @ Hillview

Al-Ameen at Hillivew is one of the popular places for Pratas and other Muslim food located among the landed estate.

Al-Ameen

The friendly service staff and spacious environment are the perks of why we are making a return here always.

Environment

My Prata Meal can never go complete without a cup of Teh Tarik or Teh Halia.

Teh Tarik and Teh Halia

Tea Halia & Tea Tarik Ice

Ice Milo & Teh O Ice - $2 & $1.60

Teh O (Hot) & Teh O Ice with Lime - $1 & $2

The place is not too crowded and offers one of the better pratas among the estate. I ordered Egg Onion prata and it was served on a plate with a small cup of curry.

Telur Bawang

Kosong Prata was crispy.

Prata Kosong

Dipped the prata into the given curry and enjoy your meal.

Prata & Curry

What a good recommendation by the boss! Thosai was fluffy and fragrant. The boss even mentioned that this tastes best when eaten using bare hands. Do not worry about getting your hands dirty as there is a water basin at the back of the eatery.

Thosai

Our Thosai experience was also enhanced by dipping them into the different type of gravy.

Dipping Tosai into Curry

As we had been ordering their Egg Onion and Kosong Prata in our previous visits, we decided to order the Planta (Margarine) Prata for a tryout. The taste was quite decent without any strong Planta Margarine smell, nonetheless, the prata still remains crispy.

Planta (Margarine) Prata, Egg Onion, Egg  - $3, $2.50, $2

Mee Rebus's gravy was decadent and had a good hint of peanut aroma in the gravy.

Mee Rebus - $3.80

The flavourful and delightful mix of the texture of the dish with vegetables cooked to their softness together with Rice cakes and hard-boiled egg soaked in the creamy curry gravy topped with some fried crumbs.

Lontong - $3.80

The meal was quite filling for my stomach with rice cakes. The curry gravy together with the plain rice cake was a good combination. Adding on their sambal chilli with fried anchovies definitely enhanced the taste of this dish.

Carrot & Rice Cake

Mee Siam was quite decent too with a generous amount of Bee Hoon. I still think that the main hit of their Malay Dishes lies in the Sambal Chilli which packs a good fragrance and sweetness.

Mee Siam - $3.80

We will be back for more items on their menu, perhaps the Dum Briyani as recommended by the friendly boss.

The New Ting!

With so many tenants turning over at the stretch of shophouses along Hillview Rise, I notice that The New Ting has been there for quite sometime and we had yet to try out their food.

Shop Front of The New Ting!

Do not judge the restaurant via its exterior. In fact, the interior has a nice concept using Coca Cola decorations with board games table. The walls were plastered with red bricks wall paper which made the environment cozy and different from the usual places we went.

The New Ting!'s Interior

The vibes are different here and feels quite retro.

The New Ting! Interior

While one of us has root beer float and the other has Fruit Tea. The fruit tea was refreshing with real fruits in the big cup.

Fruit Tea and Root Beer Float - $3.50 & $4.90

I was quite thankful to see that the Mushroom Soup is not the run of the mill type and instead it was something made from the scratch topped with a handful of croutons and drizzled with some cream. Texture of soup is there with some mushroom bits / chunks within.

Forest Mushroom Soup - $6.90

The burger looked simple but well executed with fries as side. It was served on a round stone plate with wooden board. The sesame bun was thick and fluffy and generous servings of 24 hours marinated pulled pork were soaked with the BBQ sauce, lettuce and grana padano cheese.

Pulled Pork Burger - $14.90

Quality grilled beef patty accompanied by sunny side up egg, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheddar cheese and bacon with BBQ Sauce.

Mega Burger - $16.90

It was quite empty on a weekday evening and seems like a good place to chill or even a place to do some work. The service was friendly and frankly, I do not mind making a return trip for its quiet environment and over some simple western food like this.

iO Italian Osteria

A good 8 years have passed since my last visit in the year 2014, Italian Osteria is one of the oldest tenants in HillV2.

Italian Osteria

A perfect starter to kick off your meal. These Grilled Bacon Rolls were yummy.  The smokey flavoured Bacon cradled the luscious melty cheese within and topped by some nutty pisstachio.

Grilled Bacon Rolls- $12

If you love cheese and charred bacon, I'm sure you will be enjoying having this.

One of the Bacon Rolls

There are a handful of options for their Classic Pasta. I had the Vongole with Tagliolini. It was prepared in White Wine Sauce and a generous amount of Vongole.

Vongole - $24 + $3 Tagliolini

Though the texture of the pasta is moist and tasty, my preference for Vongole still goes to the style that has a little broth in it.

Tagliolini

This Meat Special is not listed on the menu but on the chalkboard for that day. The thick slab of pork chop was coupled with some purple cabbages and caramelized apple.

Meat Special - $36

I love the use of mustard and caramelized apple sauce on the pork chop. It makes the pork chop savoury and delicious.

Slathered with Sauce

On top of that, the meat was thoroughly cooked and was fork tender.

Pork Chop

There are 3 sizes of freshly baked pizza flavours. Small, Medium & Large. We had a small portion that consist of 1 flavour.

Cooked Ham & Mushrooms - $9

Their pizza never disappoints.  The bread was crispy outside and soft on the inside. With the stretchy cheese with cooked ham and sliced button mushrooms, it's honestly yummy.

Yummy Pizza

Always leave some stomach space at the end of the meal so that we can enjoy the Italian Dessert. The classic tiramisu was layered with pistachio ganache in between.

Pistachio Tiramisu - $14

The mascarpone cheese was light and the espresso that had soaked the ladyfingers was strong. The nuttiness together with the softness of the Tiramisu was pretty satisfying.

Tiramisu

Panna Cotta is the last dessert to end our meal in Italian Osteria. After all these years, their standard of food is still keeping up and that also explains the crowd over the peak hours. I wonder when will I be back again.

Panna Cotta - $10

Charmed by its rustic interior and its pleasant bread counter laid up at its entrance, iO Italian Osteria has a friendly large team which aims to bring traditional italian traven back into the modern days. Its Italian concept dining environment and its open kitchen has somehow brought more knowledge to someone like me who know nuts about Italian cuisine.

iO Italian Osteria

With my kind of thinking that Italian is just limited to pasta and pizzas, iO Italian Osteria had somehow upgraded my Italian cuisine menu.

Open Kitchen Concept

As we stepped into the restaurant, a special aroma engulfed us. It smell as if something was burning, perhaps the air was filled with a good mixture from both the Italian kitchen as well as its bakery.

Bakery Section Near Entrance

The friendly staff directed us to the seats and every table has already a piece of paper menu on it. By sitting nearby the bay windows, we get to see the moving vehicles on the round about nearby.

Bay Windows
Dining Environment with Bar Counters

Rustic Feel of the environment

As starters, we ordered a basket of assorted Italian breads. It comes in a paper bag of 4 - 5 kinds of breads, from hard to soft, complimented well with a good dip in the balsamic vinegar as well as olive oil.

Assorted homemade bread basket - $5

Like most European restaurants, drinking waters are chargeable and we ordered a bottle of still water to pair with our dishes.

Still Water 1 Litre - $4

A wait worth waiting for! Oven-roasted chicken was served on a heavy weighted wooden board supported by zucchini, potato and carrots, adorned with a stalk of thyme leaves. The meat, as well as vegetables, were all succulent and tasty!

Spicy Roasted Farm Chicken "Alla Diavola" - $22

Serving of Cod fish was petite, placed in the middle of a big brown plate with assorted boiled vegetables stacked as it base and a pool of clear soup base surrounded. Soup has hints of cooking wine taste and was appetizing.

Cod Fish "Al Coccio", Aromatic Fish Broth - $24

We left the place with no stomach room for desserts. With their impeccable services and chanting environment, it's hard not to be back again.
