Damascus Delight

Enjoy the authentic Syrian food from Damascus Delights which is conveniently located outside Tampines MRT. This is "owned and operated by Damascus-born chef Abdulhadi "Hadi" Al Saadi. They offer a good range of Sharwana from wraps, rice and Sharwana bowls.

Damascus Delights

Here's how the Chicken and our Mutton were prepared for the wraps!

Shredding in Action

The combination of tender, spiced lamb with tangy sauces wrapped in soft flatbread creates a harmonious and satisfying meal. Whether enjoyed as a quick lunch or a casual dinner, this wrap is sure to delight with its rich flavours and varied textures.

Sharwana Wrap Lamb

The Sharwana Wrap Chicken is a delicious and popular Middle Eastern dish. Comparing this to the Mutton Wrap, this is on the greasy side.

Mee Pok Time! [Media Invite]

Mee Pok Time! is known for serving abundance of seafood with noodles at a pocket friendly pricing. Let's check out their food.

Mee Pok Time!

These Crispy Fish Stripes are the main ingredients in their dishes and were also my favourite.
The stall got their crispy fish stripes from a supplier and said that they will reject the fish stripes if the quality is not up to standard.

Crispy Fish Stripes 香脆鱼条- $3.50

I love these crispy fish stripes and they tasted perfect when paired with the chilli dip.

Fish Stripe

The Teochew Special Porridge on the menu was something that caught our eyes for it was served in an earthen claypot, unlike the rest. The pot of porridge was topped with chopped spring onions as well as some crispy fish stripes.

Teochew Special Porridge 潮州特制粥 - $6.80

The pot of porridge tasted homely and was flavourful, a good reminiscent of what I used to have back home. Ingredients were generous with clams, scallops, liver, pork and crispy fish stripes.

Ingredients in Teochew Special Porridge

The flavours of the porridge were not only made up of the variety of meat and seafood but the natural sweetness from the vegetables.

Porridge

Traditional Black Sauce Mee is topped with minced meat, meatball and lean meat. It also comes with a bowl of soup.

Traditional Black Sauce Noodles 古早味黑酱拌面

Mee Pok was specially made for the width of the Mee Pok was broader than the usual Mee Pok we have. It's a hybrid of Handmade Noodle size with the usual Mee Pok texture. Being the Traditional Black Sauce Noodles, I find that it was tasty. The amount of black sauce was adequately tossed in the bowl.

Black Sauce Tossed Noodles

It's hard not to order their Signature dishes so we ordered their Signature Mee Pok. Similarly, their Mee Pok was broader in width and was tossed in their normal sauce as well as topped with some crispy stripes.

Signature Mee Pok 招牌面薄 - $6.50 / $8.50

The Signature Mee Pok comes with a bowl of imperial soup that comprises all ingredients in the soup bowl. It has prawn paste, meatball, pig liver, minced meat, scallop, clams etc

Ingredients of Signature Mee Pok's Soup

Their Dumplings are handmade daily. These Teochew Style dumplings were paired with flavourful soup as well as crispy fish stripes.

Dumpling Soup 潮州肉饺汤 - $5.50

The dumpling skin was smooth and the soup was flavourful.

Dumpling

Each of the dumplings was packed with minced meat as well as water chestnut that gave a crunchy and refreshing flavour to the dumpling.

Can you spot the chestnut?

Their food never fails to impress. Food was freshly prepared and flavours were up to the mark. I would not mind returning to order again.

Thank you Lao Niang Agency for the Invite.

Chai Chee Pork Porridge

It's my turn now after hearing so much about this Chai Chee Pork Porridge that is located in the Eastern part of Singapore. There are two stalls, one located in Fengshan Market and Food Centre and the other in Tampines Round Market and Food Centre. I went to the latter as it was more convenient for me.

There was no queue lining up in front of the stall like others in the Food Center as upon ordering, diners were given a buzzer but the wait was far more than expected, from 30 minutes to 45 minutes as they have literally missed out our orders. They offered a variety of porridge, from Century egg, fish, chicken to pork porridge.

Waiting for your turn

So how did these bowl of pork porridge entice its patrons? I'm sure it got its own fan base. The texture was not watery but rather a smooth consistency with a creamy-like look. It was indeed appetising and together with its natural sweetness from the meat, it does give a slight nod in our head, kind of agreeing with the length of the queue in the hawker centre.

Pork Porridge - $3.50 + $0.50 Egg

Though smooth and creamy in its texture, it was still slightly grainy. Overall, such a bowl of porridge is stomach warming and approved by the heartlanders in the Eastern region of Singapore.

Delicious Minced Pork Balls

If you were to ask me, was it worth the wait as compared to Sin Heng Kee and Johor Road Boon Kee Pork Porridge? Honestly, I will still prefer the latter and Sing Heng Kee in terms of the old school taste if we were to compare among their pork porridge.

Lawa Bintang

The Nasi Lemak Stall, Lawa Bintang, in Tampines Industrial Park was the talk of the town sometimes back last year. They have make the conventional Nasi Lemak by giving a twist into a fusion dish that attract so many die heart fans queuing up despite of its secluded location that requires much effort travelling down. Nevertheless, if you enjoy having lobster, I bet you will find this worth your effort to uncover this hidden gem in the industrial.

Stall Front

Nasi Lemak Menu
The highlight of Lawa Bintang is perhaps the Lobster Nasi Lemak as you will notice that almost every table, Lobster Nasi Lemak is their mandatory order.

Wait for your call
Eating Nasi Lemak with fusion has been make interesting by Lawa Bintang. Besides having the Lobster dish, diners has the choice of Nasi Lemak with Grouper / Yellow Tail Fish, Sotong Goreng / Grilled, Barramundi, Smoked Duck, Salmon, soft shell crab or even prawns grilled or with salted eggs. The idea of incorporation seafood into Nasi Lemak is fantastic and I would say that its very bold to have it done. By seeing the crowd lining up patiently in front of the Stall, you know that this idea works for the family business! For those who are not susceptible to the fusion idea and still prefer traditionally prepared Nasi Lemak, its also available at $4 with Chicken Wing.

Lobster
We topped our portion of Lobster Nasi Lemak with Bagedil and chicken wings. The Lobster was covered by a generous layer of cheese flavoured with herbs and Cajun spices. Simply love this fragrant and creamy layer of cheese.

Lobster Nasi Lemak - $22 (Bagedil & Wings are add On at Separate Cost)
This has not only given another dimension on a Nasi Lemak Dish but also brings out the tasty fresh and succulent crustacean taste!  This lobster was decked on a bed of White Fragrant Long Grains (Basmati Rice) coupled with their spicy chilli sauce, fried egg, anchovies and peanuts. Basmati Rice was a healthier choice used and every grain is packed with the rich aromatic taste of coconut milk. This was my first time having Nasi Lemak with Basmati Rice and felt that it was a perfect choice as rice is almost grease-less though it may be lacking some bit of moisture as compared to our original rice. Another noteworthy item would be their yummy chicken wing that was deeply marinated, fragent and sinfully juicy.

Another view of Lobster Nasi Lemak
Chicken wing is of larger in size cost $1.50 while bagedil at $0.50. Till date, it is the most expensive Nasi Lemak I ever had but if you ask me if its worth a try, my answer is yes.

Chicken Wing
Finding the large Sotong interesting, most probably I will make a return for its Nasi Lemak. Do remember to be early as most of the time they do sold out before the stated closing hours.
