Arteastiq DePatio Plaza Sing

Being spoilt for food choices in Plaza Singapura, we finally settle ourselves in Arteastiq depatio after running an errand.

The menu was featured outside the restaurant in a standee form. We are able to glance through the items on the menu before walking into the restaurant.

The area was brightly lited in a comfortable setting. Though it is located indoors, the environment was like dining in an outdoor setting with a wooden table and paved ground.

Both House Brewed Drinks are rather refreshing in taste with the soda water.

The Pork Belly had a thick crispy crust with succulent meat. The dish was served with sauerkraut, mustard, spices and herbs.

During 4-8pm, Fresh Oysters will be priced at $2 per piece instead of the usual $3.50. However, this promotion will only be limited to 1 dozen per table only.  The Oysters are served with lemon and onion red wine vinegar to pair along.

230g Black Angus Rib eye served with sauteed spinach, fries and garlic butter. The meat was tender enough and cook to the right doneness as requested.

The Cod Fish and Chips were not greasy and were served with shoestring fries, horseradish mayo, lemon pepper and mushy peas.

A different kind of execution for a classic Tiramisu is to remove the film surrounding the dessert and let the layered smooth mascarpone cheese collapse into the sponge finger with brewed black coffee. Not too bad, at least we had a satisfying ending with the meal.

Food overall was standard fare.

db Bistro & Oyster Bar by Daniel Boulud

A call for a random meetup over a meal ended us up here at the French Bistro in Marina Bay Sands. db Bistro & Oyster Bar by Daniel Boulud is listed on MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2021 selection

Just right in front of the entrance, you will get the see fresh seafood like oysters and lobster decked up by the ice through their refrigerator.

The centre island had a good array of alcoholic beverages. It seems like one will be spoilt of choices if you are there for the bar too.

Interior

The Interior was posh and up-class, brightly lited.

Dining Area

After ordering our express lunch (12pm to 3pm), we were served with an assortment of warm bread with butter.

Taking off from their Oysters Bar, we enjoyed ourselves with half a dozen of Singapore's Freshest Selection of Market Oysters.

Seasonal Oysters - $40

These freshly shucked oysters were served on a bed of ice with slices of lemon and some sauce to pair along.

Oysters

We decided to have a 3 courses express lunch each and my first course started off with Heirloom Tomatoes & Burrata. It was paired with Aged balsamic and basil pesto. The dish is refreshing and aids in stimulating our appetite before the main course is served.

While my friend had her Pate En Croute which is made up of duck, pistachio, apricot, pickles and mustard.

pâté en croûte

Going into the 2nd Course and also the main courses. One of us ordered the Crispy Pork "Corden Bleu" out of the 6 selections. The execution of Corden Bleu was different from what I had in mind. It features Parisian Ham, Gruyère Cheese, Farm Eggs with perfect runny egg yolk and Sauce Mornay.

Crispy Pork "Corden Bleu"

Steak Haché comes with a farm egg drizzled with red wine shallot sauce, totally love the caramelised onions that was among the sauce. This main course is also back up by a bowl of Petite Salad.

In our last courses, we had the Assorted Ice Cream which is based on Chef's selection. We have Peanut Butter Ice Cream and refreshing strawberries Sorbet with 2 pieces of chewy chocolate chip cookies.

Molten Chocolate Cake

The unctuous molten lava was seen oozing out as we sink the knife down. What a good way to end our meal with a savoury treat.

Choupinette

Hidden away in the Bukit Timah enclave, Choupinette been serving classic French dishes since 2002. When translated from French, "Choupinette" means "Sweetie Pie" in French.

The cafe also doubles up as a bakery where you can see lovely homemade loves displayed in the wooden baskets near the entrance.

Choupinette

It was an impromptu breakfast arrangement on a Saturday morning and we did not make an advance reservation. We approached the cafe as walk-in customers. We were then told that they were fully booked till 11am and they will call us in 20 minutes time if there were empty seats.

Can you spot the loaves?

The menu items are rather limited and have no illustrations.

Menu

The doughnut stick was said to be on the house, the reason being that they have kept us waiting.

Doughnut Stick

The Ema's Set is the basic set among all and only served until noon. This gives us a choice of croissant or pain au chocolate or sultana or small brioche or wholemeal mini-baguette with butter and jam.

All sets on the menu are served with fruit juice and any coffee or hot tea or even hot chocolate. It quite out of the ordinary practise that they offer 2 glasses of drinks in a meal.

Chocolate Brioche

The chocolate brioche is a perfect addition to a simple breakfast. The buns are pillowy soft and consist of chocolate.

Cross Section of Chocolate Brioche

The set comes with a glass of fruit juice and we have cranberry and lime juice. These are not freshly squeezed juices and most probably some carton juices that can be bought off from the shelves.

Cranberry & Lime Juice

The Egg's Benedict's is a definite crowd-pleaser as almost each and every table did have one such similar-looking dish as their order. An a la carte order would have it cost at $19 but we have ordered in as a set and that comes with 2 drinks.

Choupinette has nailed it! The Egg's Benedict was perfectly done and well-executed with hollandaise sauce spread on both poached eggs.

Egg's Benedict's Set - $26

Besides just having eggs on toast with ham and hollandaise sauce, I'm actually quite impressed but how crispy the toast was. The texture was simply as good as munching on some biscuits.

Are you moved now?

Here comes our 2nd drink, a glass of hot cappuccino and a glass of ice chocolate.

Drinks

As an overall, service was ordinary and the cafe space is limited and hard to accommodate a large group. It will be advisable to do a reservation prior to going down to avoid disappointment.

La Petite Cuisine

When we think of affordable French Cuisine without burning a hole in our pockets, La Petite Cuisine has always been in our mind. Our last visit was many years back and then it had left us a good impression of enjoying French Cuisine without splurging too much. This little hidden Gem is conveniently located at Botanic Garden MRT and takes about less than 5 minutes to walk if you know the direction to Serene Centre.

La Petite French Bistro

The environment was simple and down to earth, a kind of cosy place that I will want to have for a meal.

Mushroom Soup & Prawn Bisque with additional Bread Basket - $6, $8.50 & $4

Four Piece Bread Rolls with 2 Pieces Butter - $4

The two-course weekend set at $35 is available for Lunch and Dinner, from Friday to Sunday. The Entree comes with 2 choices, Ravioli of Prawns and Foie Gras in light Lemon Creme Sauce or Escargots Bourgogne (6 pieces) served with Salad mix with French dressing.

2 Course Weekend Set @ $35

I wasn't quite game for Escargots for that evening, thus I chose Ravioli instead. On an ala carte order, the dish alone will cost $19.50. The dish comes with 3 big Ravioli, stuffed with prawns and Foie Gras, cooked in light lemon creme sauce drizzled with a handful of chopped parsley.

Ravioli of Prawns and Foie Gras in light Lemon Creme Sauce

This Entree is surprisingly good and appetizing in the sweet light cream sauce. The entire piece of prawn and Foie Gras can be obviously seen in the pocket of the Ravioli, great!

Prawn and Foie Gras

While the Mains you can choose to have Confit De Canard (French Duck Leg) with Gratin Potatoes, Yellowfin Tuna Steak Loin with Sweet Paprika & Olive Oil served with Petit French Beans and Buttered Rice or Air flown Sirloin Steak served with Salad & Gratin Potatoes.

Air Flown Sirloin Steak served with Salad & Gratin Potato

The plate looked quite empty as they served the bubbling hot gratin potatoes in a separate dish. The portion was small, no complains as the business name already told us that its "Petite". Striploin steak weighs an average of 125 to 130g and is served with mesclun salad and potatoes gratin. My steak was done medium-well as requested and sat in the middle of brown sauce accompanied by the greens and mustard sauce. Although the portion is small, I was kind of full halfway through this meal. I'm happy and satisfied with the beef taste and the meat was not too gamey. On a separate note, an ala carte dish cost about $19.50

Medium Well Striploin Steak

Be careful not to touch the side of the Potato Gratin dish as they are scalding hot. The edges are slightly charred with potatoes slices overlapping each other with compliments of sour cream.

Potato Gratin

While the guy has a bigger appetite, he has twice the amount of Beef from Airflown Australian Beef Tenderloin which weighs about 250g.

Airflown Australian Beef Tenderloin 250g - $34.50

Medium doneness was served perfectly on the serving board accompanied by mesclun greens as well as sweet mustard tasting sauce and of course not forgetting the potatoes gratin that was separated out too.

Beef Tenderloin

Black Forest Cake tasted somehow similar to the one cake we bought off the shelves. The cake was spongy and come with chocolate shavings and a dollop of fresh cream both on top of the cake as well as by the side of the cake. The significant part of black forest cake comes with hints of wine taste and this has it.

Black Forest Cake - $8

The standard of food is still pretty good as compared to the last visit. Do visit if you are looking for some simple and affordable authentic French Food.

Cocotte

Cocotte is a communal restaurant and bar that serves delicious, genuine country cuisine in a hip environment. They are located in Singapore's Little India just inside Wanderlust hotel.

Cocotte
Environment was indeed different and unique on its on with industrial like bar counter and some old school items around.

Interior

Old School Barber Chair
As appetizers, 2 types of olives was given, in dark brown and olives color. Taste were not too greasy and was not too bitter either.

Olives
Basket of bread was warm and the butter spread given to us was remarkably delicious. Butter was flavourful and was made in France, pairing along well with the warm bread.

Bread
A special style of serving braised pork trotters in wraps with hazelnuts, thyme, brown butter, capers and sauteed kale. Braised Pork Trotters were deboned and served in shredded form like pull pork and mustard was given to pair along with the dish. Though the dish may be special with nuts and vegetables, i still prefer a stronger taste from braised pork and juicier touch.

Pork Trotters Parcel - $18

Pork Trotters Parcel with Mustard
The whole grilled seabass was something not within my expectation as it was bigger than what I had thought. Meat was fresh and tender, served with vierge and salad of crispy quinoa that literally overwhelmed the entire perimeter of the fish. Capers, mint, radish, shallots, lemon and parsley was part of the mix too.

Whole Grilled Seabass - $48
They use grass fed beef which is antibiotic and hormones free from Cape Grim, Australia served with green pepper corns sauce, duck fat fries and salad. Ordering Medium Done-ness from the beef, I find that the beef was actually well cook to our request and I would give a thumb up to this dish. Simply love the pairing of tender beef and sauce even though I'm not much fan of medium done-ness. Fries on the other side maybe on a soft but have unique taste.

Steak Frites 200G Chargrilled Onglet Steak - $36
Apart from the proteins and carbohydate we had from the main dish, here comes the fibre that save us from the "heavy" meal. Interestingly mixed with different types of vegetables with a touch of vinaigrette, ah, its really something wonderful to have for the meal.

Greens
Dinner was pleasant with a comfortable ambiance. The environment is both suitable for gathering or even couple dating. Recommended.
