Botanict

It's been a while since I had a vegetarian meal, but at my vegetarian friend's request, we visited Botanict, which offers an interesting array of vegetarian Nyonya dishes.

Botanict

The spicy Otah's presentation was impressive. As a non-vegetarian, I found the taste and texture surprisingly close to the usual version. Made with tau gua, it was a well-executed reinvention.

Spicy Otah - $13.30

As a petai lover, I immediately went for the Sambal Vegetable & Petai dish. It wasn’t overly spicy and had a mix of tempeh, French beans, tomatoes, and more.

Sambal Vegetable & Petai - $12

The Truffle Oyster Omelette was intriguing. Instead of oysters, they used mushrooms, and the portion was generous. The truffle aroma lingered as it was served.
Truffle Oyster Omelette - $14.30

With egg included, I’m still amazed at how soy can work wonders in vegetarian dishes.

Mocked Oyster

The menu was quite extensive, but we only managed three dishes this time. I wouldn’t mind returning for more. The owner also mentioned they offer BBQ Chuang Chuang in the evenings!

Eco-Harmony Retail & Cafe

A visit to Eco-Harmony, Singapore's organic plant-based restaurant nestled under HDB blocks, offers more than just a meal—it’s a celebration of nature’s richness and a step towards a sustainable lifestyle. Founded in 2007, this café is a social enterprise, supporting Kampung Senang’s charity and education initiatives. Committed to quality, they craft every dish using high-quality organic ingredients at affordable prices, ensuring that healthy eating remains accessible to all.

We started off with their tempeh, and although I’m not usually a fan, this one took me by surprise. It was crispy, flavorful, and surprisingly addictive. I found myself reaching for more without even realizing it!

Tempeh 香煎天贝 - $8

Initially, I mistook the chicken chop for luncheon meat pieces based on its presentation. It was served alongside lettuce and a mixed fruit salad dressed in a creamy sauce, adding a refreshing contrast to the dish.

Black Pepper Plant-Based Chicken Chop 黑椒吉扒 - $9.90

The Yam Abacus looked promising, but my pet peeve was how they all clumped together into a sticky mass. Instead of distinct, chewy abacus beads, they stuck to one another, making it hard to pick up an individual piece. The texture leaned more towards a lump of starch rather than the bouncy, firm bite I was expecting.

Yam Abacus 算盘子 - $9

Every set meal comes with organic salad and daily soup, making it a wholesome choice. Since the Olive Fried Organic Noodle Set was a new addition to the menu, we had to give it a try. The noodles were generously tossed in olive oil, mixed with tau gua (beancurd) and cabbage, giving it a light yet fragrant touch. However, as a non-vegetarian, I found the flavors a bit too simple and lacking the depth I usually enjoy in a noodle dish.

Olive Fried Organic Noodle Set (Dry) 香拌有机橄榄面 - $9.90

The Sesame Sauce with Organic Noodle Set had a comforting, home-cooked feel, featuring fresh greens, carrots, and mushrooms. The rich sesame sauce was generously drizzled over the noodles, adding a nutty aroma and creaminess. While the ingredients were simple, the sauce brought everything together, making it a hearty and wholesome dish.

Sesame Sauce with Organic Noodle Set (Dry) 有机芝麻酱拌面 -  $9.90

The Toona Organic Fried Rice Set is a wholesome, plant-based dish packed with earthy flavors and vibrant ingredients. Infused with toona leaves, the rice carries a distinctive, aromatic taste, perfectly complemented by a mix of multigrain rice, crunchy vegetables, and light seasoning. Each bite delivers a nutrient-rich and satisfying experience, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a healthy yet flavorful meal.

Toona Organic Brown Rice Set 香椿拌有机糙米饭 - $9.90

The Dumplings with Organic Noodle Soup Set felt like a comforting, homemade meal, perhaps something I would whip up with instant noodles, fresh vegetables, and mushrooms at home. The simplicity of the dish, paired with the light yet flavorful broth, made it a hearty and familiar choice.

Dumplings with Organic Noodle Soup Set 有机水饺汤面 - $9.90

The Organic Vegetable Popiah Set stood out with its thick wrap and generously packed fillings. Unlike typical vegetarian popiah, this version featured tau gua cubes, vegetables, and more, giving it a unique texture.

Organic Vegetable Popiah Set 有机时蔬薄饼套餐 - $9.90

While the taste leaned towards the bland side, dipping it in their chilli or white sauce instantly elevated the flavors, adding an extra kick to each bite.

The soup intrigued me with its combination of beetroot, walnut, and cashew nut, a mix I don’t often come across. At first sip, it had a slightly raw taste, but after a few mouthfuls, I got used to it. The flavors gradually grew on me, leaving a light and clean aftertaste, making it quite a refreshing experience.

Soup

Last but not least, we decided to end our meal with their healthy desserts. Made with all-natural ingredients and minimal sweetness, they stayed true to the cafe’s wholesome approach. As we finished our meal, we could feel the lightness and cleanliness in our bodies—no heaviness, just a refreshing sense of well-being. I was even told that having a full meal here wouldn’t leave you with a food coma!

Almond Paste 杏仁糊, Black Rice Porridge 黑米粥, Multigrain Paste 谷物糊 - $5 Each

If you’re looking for a clean and nourishing meal, this place is definitely worth a try.

Ru Yi Yuan Vegetarian

The endless long queue is always a deterrence for me to try out their vegetarian food and since they are open Monday to Saturday 5.30am to 12.30pm, I made a point to visit their stall but still was caught in the long queue despite it was not on a 1st or 15th day of the lunar calendar month. I thought I should have tried once since it's so popular.

Ru Yi Yuan Vegetarian

We had the standard Bee Hoon that comes with the default ingredients. They are fresh and a variety of ingredients are given more as compared to other vegetarians stall but it also tell us that the amount of price that we are paying for.

Bee Hoon - $4.50

If you order a mixture of noodles, it will be slightly expensive.  The craving drenched on the plate of noodles was unique and the ingredients included Tau Kwa, cabbages etc

Kway Teow & Noodle - $5

If you don't mind spending a bit more on a vegetarian meal as compared to non-vegetarian meal, its good to give them a try.

Tracy Juice Culture

While I heard something about the dish "Mushroom Udon" via the social media, we head down to Fortune Center and want to give it a try. I was pretty shock as I arrived the shop navigating myself with the unit number on the given address and found out that it was a Fruit Juice place. I was initially puzzled for Udon to be sold there, nonetheless, we continued our ordering thereupon looking at the wall's big menu.

It's a small outlet with limited seats.

Inside Tracy Juice Culture

Here comes their famous mushroom soup udon. While having the Udon halfway, I realised that I was actually having vegan food with vegetables and mock meat in the bowl of savoury thick luscious mushroom gravy mixing up the thick strands of Udon. Ingredients are none other than visible slices of mushroom with cherry tomato, broccoli as well as mocked meat. We were satisfied by this tasty bowl of Udon.

Tracy's Special Mushroom Udon 健施特制乌冬面 - $14 (Set)

The set of Tracy's Special Mushroom Udon comes with a bowl of nutritional white fungus with peach gum dessert. If you do not prefer to have a set meal, you can order it on an Ala Carte basis. Love the not too sweet dessert with the soft and velvety texture of the peach gum, white fungus coupled by red dates and longan.

Dessert for the Set

What a weird combination I thought with Fruits in Curry and Udon. Spiciness level is acceptable and if you were to ask me it has more of a tangy and sour taste that makes the healthy bowl of curry so wholesome. Fruits like pineapples are essential to make up the sour taste. I feel weird having grapes, cherry tomatoes and dragonfruits in my bowl of curry noodles. Well! That's what makes it so special.

Fruit Juice Curry 水果咖喱 - $9.90

If you feel adventurous enough, you may want to try out their special Udon. They also have another outlet in International Plaza.

Xin Yi Vegetarian Food 欣意素食

While queueing at the next stall for Porridge, I noticed the long queue at Xin Yi Vegetarian Food and decided to join the queue too. No doubt it was a long queue, it was actually a fast-moving one.

A standard plate of vegetarian Bee Hoon with mixed vegetables, Mocked Char Siew, fried items and Tau Gua. The Bee Hoon was good with the given braised gravy.

Warung Ijo

We often come across vegetarian restaurants but I thought Warung Ijo is special as they are serving Indonesian Cuisine in Vegan.

I was thrown with a surprise when I saw swing seatings in Warung Ijo. Luckily we were early and had made reservations, thus we were given the priority for the choice of swing or the barrel sofa seatings.

Swing
After some discussion, we prefer the swing seatings to the cushion seatings.

Barrel Sofa
While my friends were looking at the menu that was plastered all over the stretch of wall near the entrance, I was occupied by the nostalgic looking wall that had an old school bicycle hanged on it and an old radio with cassette tapes onthe shelf.

Nostalgic
The swing artwork was made from ice cream sticks and quite unique on its own. However, this is to bring the message across to diners who are seated at the swing area not to swing and bang onto the table and pillars.

Decor on Table
Wow! Be surprised that their Lime Juice was not made up of the usual small calamansi limes and instead, they are making use of the kaffir lime. The aroma and refreshing citrus smell were so inviting and a little sour from the fruit had made this drink perfect.

Lime Juice - $4.90
We started with the Fa Cai Yu Sheng since its Chinese New Year is around the corner. They taste similar however they do have their in house special "Golden Crackers". Since its the year of Rat, we have placed our plate in the shape of Mickey Mouse.

Yu Sheng - $19.90
"Orh Luak" aka Fried Oysters was crispy and had the texture of oysters although mushrooms were used.

Orh Luak - $9.90
As Petai lovers, this dish was yummy! Petai were cut into quarters and fried together with vegetarian sambal. Best of all, it was not oily and tasted as good as non-vegetarian ones.

Sambal Petai - $9.90
One of my favourite Indonesian dishes, Gado Gado. Generous with home made peanut sauce and topped with crackers. As we were occupied with taking pictures and enjoying other dishes on the table, the crackers got soaked too long in the sauce thus some of it lost its crispiness. Therefore, it is recommended to consume them fast.

Gado Gado - $8.90
Tahu Telor is presentable, topped with shredded cucumber and placed on a green leave. The use of Kecap Manis made the fried Tahu tasted great, however, we still find that there was still something missing from this dish. Perhaps the use of shredded cucumber was not enough.

Tahu Telor - $8.90
Fragrant and the slab of fish was covered up with creamy curry and vegetables like long beans as well as brinjal. Fish was fried and soaked in the not so spicy curry. The meat was quite tough, nonetheless, we still enjoy the dish, scooping up the gravy, pairing them up with our plain rice.

Gulai Fish - $15.90
If I did not know that I had entered a vegetarian eating place, I might have mistaken these sate as the real stuff.

Satay Padang - $9.90
Although our tummy was almost full with the sumptuous dinner, we could not bear to leave the place without filling ourselves with their Avocado smoothie. The Avocado smoothie comes in 2 variations, either with chocolate or with gula Melaka. The lady who served us mentioned that each cup was made up of one avocado and even offered us more chocolate or Gula Melaka if we find that its too creamy.

Avocado Smoothie - $5.90 Each
Service was friendly and the quality of food was laudable. The environment was comfortable and feels at home. I had a pleasant experience and every vegetarian restaurant visit will throw me some surprises. Even though I love exploring new places, I do not mind making a return for vegetarian food at Warung Ijo.

May Veggie Home

This was my first experience having vegetarian meals and visiting 100% Vegan Eatery as an itinerary during my travel. A different approach and of course an eye opener to me enjoying people watching while immersing ourselves into the home cook vegan dishes. Thanks to our pal's recommendation, else the trip to May Veggie Home would not have materialized.

Maggie Vegan Cuisine
Diners came here not just by words of mouth. In fact May Veggie Home has been also feature in tripadvisor and HappyCow, thus the crowd would would not be just only locals but foreigners too. In terms of its location, they are easily accessible via BTS (Asok Station) or a stone throw away from the shopping mall Terminal 21.

Recommendation on Trip Advisor
There's a merchandise corner for healthy food and you can pick them home.

Merchandise
With such welcoming decorations in the corner, we find that the environment was rather cosy and unpretentious.

Corner
Good that the restaurant is environmental friendly as they are using paper straws. Both drinks were definitely refreshing to beat the hot weather. For Lemon Grass drinks, diner get to see the original lemon grass plant in the cup and we were all glad that they tasted great without being too sweet.

Iced Lemon Grass & Iced Thai Tea - 59 Baht Each
We started the appetizers with the Grilled Vegetarian Bacon. "Bacon" texture was almost there, crispy and produce a kind of smoky flavor, wrapping around the small bunch of enoki mushrooms. It would be perfect with this bacon were thinner.

Grilled Vegetarian Bacon - 149 Baht
I would comment that this Cauliflower Spicy Wing was an interesting creation. I would have think they were meat balls if we were not in a vegetarian eatery. It was actually made up of cauliflower, battered and deep fried then coated with some spicy sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Though drenched under the sauce, the crispiness were still well kept.

Cauli-BON CHON - 129 Baht
Its hard not to order the staple Thai dishes when we are in Bangkok. Vegetarian Shrimp Tom Yum with Coconut Meat was served in an earthen pot, keeping the soup warm. Often I will order the clear Tom Yum Soup and will avoid the orange broth but definitely not for this. Coconut milk was sparingly used in the dish without compromising its taste.

Tom Yum Kung - 149 Baht (Small)
There were still some fiery kicks in between mouthful of sips and I love the fragrance of its lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves and other ingredients.

Plentiful of Ingredients
Pineapple Fried Rice was nicely presented in the fruit itself. The fried turmeric rice was topped with "Chinese Sausage", pineapple, raisin, cashew nuts and shredded soy "meat".

Kao-Pad-Sap-Pa-Rod - 220 Baht
This dish reminds me me of Larb Moo, one of my favourite Thai dishes. Nevertheless, the vegetarian version having fried Minced Tofu in Basil Sauce is also one of the better dishes we had ordered. The presence of basil fragrance and texture from the fried Tofu had already won our hearts.

Krapraow Tofu - 129 Baht
Phad Thai with Tofu just as the dish name suggested. It was nothing fanciful and quite decent as a noodle dish.

Phad Thai Tofu - 119 Baht
Also indicated as one of the gluten free dish on the menu. The stir fried Chinese Kale with "Veg Salted Fish" or "Tofu" was a heart warming dish. Vegetables were crunchy and the gravy together with the "Salted Fish" blends in well and lifted the taste of the dish.

Pad Ka Nah Pla Kem - 129 Baht
The greedy us could not stop looking at the menu and finally decided that we should order something from its Western Menu. Vegan Burger Bun was fragrant, soft and was home made. BBQ Shredded Soy Meat was sandwiched and topped with cashew nut cheese. Presentation had scored points here too with food items served on a cross section of a tree trunk. Besides the burger, platter was served with sides like salad, onion rings , cheesy dip and ketchup.

BBQ Cheese Burger - 249 Baht
The cold drinks we ordered from the start were just not enough for our dehydrating bodies. We had a pot of hot lemongrass too.

Hot Lemongrass - 69 Baht
Overall, the food was interesting and generally tastes good. However, the pet peeve were their service standards. Most of the time we had to wave frantically before grabbing their servers attention, it felt that they were looking at our direction yet not attending to us till we stand up and head towards the counter.
