Ohkajhu

While sustainability is a great topic everywhere in the part of world, our lifestyle has slowly evolved and most of us are not only concerned about the kind of food we consume but also its source, where it comes from.

Ohkajhu

Our invited dinner by the locals at Ohkajhu was definitely interesting to us as a healthy meal like this will never be on my itinerary when travelling overseas.

Founders - Chef, Engineer and Farmer

Nonetheless, thank you for the efforts put in to get us a well-deserved meal in Pattaya.

Ohkajhu prides itself on paying attention to every aspect from the selection of seeds, planting seeds, and preparing planting plots. They are confident that vegetables that come from their garden are always clean, fresh and safe without chemicals involved. They have also more than 25 types of salad vegetables. Do check it out on their menu!

Sustainability

The environment was stunning and spacious but bustling with patrons. The garden theme environment with woody furnishings was comfortable.

Dining Environment

The portion was big and generous with a good presentation. My pork Chop was loaded with Mushroom Sauce and tucked with some salad by the side with pumpkins, cucumber, and cherry tomato in Thousand Island Dressing.

The Chicken Chop was not bad too, with smoky hints and charred flavours. The Assortment of greens was interesting with Beetrooms, barleys, quinoa, broccoli, capsicums etc.

Chicken Steak

The steak was well cooked to the requested doneness and charred on the outside accompanied by some mustard and brown sauce. It was paired with a handful amount of Red Spinach & tomato dressed with vinaigrette.

Another recommended item will be their Grilled Sea Bass steak with Herb Crust accompanied by Tartar Sauce. Other items on the plate are the healthy greens, olive, pumpkins, capsicums and hard boiled egg.

Wow

How about some salad with items from the sea? We also ordered Crispy Sea Bass and Shrimp with mashed potato as the 1 side dish.

Their range of smoothies offered was impressive. With Smoothie being served, it also means we are having more intake of fruit and vegetables. If you realised, the straws were made of paper too.

The Coco Smoothies was well presented with Coconut Flesh cradling the mango cubes and topped with some cereal.

If you prefer something on the sour side, you may want to try out their Recommended Green Apple Kiwi. The refreshing treat

This is definitely not a everyday combination that I get to see from the smoothie stall in Singapore. Well, the distinctive layer of colors was attractive and of course healthy!

Blueberry Avocado - 145 Baht

The Summer Sensation smoothies are made up of coconut, celery, strawberry, lemon, coconut as well as lemon. Refreshing enough and if you can take the taste of celery.

Summer Sensation - 95 Baht

This mixed Berry Yogurt gave a "berry" good vitamin and refreshing coolness. If you enjoy yoghurt with berries, you might want to try this out.

With so many drinks being served on our big table, we were confused with what we had ordered and had them mixed up among ourselves. Nonetheless, this Matcha Smoothie was still fantastic with Coconut Flesh topped the beverage.

Having healthy food has a price to pay and our meals are considerably healthy. Besides serving meat, there are also vegan options available. The menu was extensive too with salads, soups, smoothies, juices, and even spaghetti dishes. If you are a healthy go-er, you might want to try Ohkajhu too.

Pa Boon Cafe

As we alighted from the bus and make our way into our lunch place, we were welcomed by some gigantic characters in the garden which make most of us stop by to take photos with their favourite character.

Bumble Bee

The place is scenic and Instagram worthy with a good different vibes.

Hulk

You get to feel a bit of the farm vibes with rabbits, turkeys, small animals and koi fish around.

Look!

The dining place was serene featuring individual pavilions surrounded by the pond. These charming settings provided patrons with an intimate and private setting, allowing us to enjoy our meal while being surrounded by nature; the sound of flowing water, gentle breeze rustling through the trees, splash noises from the Koi fishes in the pond etc.

Individual Pavilions

The place can be seen bustling with people, families, friends and even couples, relaxing under these shady pavilions.

Surrounded by Pond

You can even feed the fishes in the pond.

Koi Fishes

Besides being thrown with environmental surprises, I received surprises in food too. There are a number of dishes ordered by the locals that I won't get to eat in Singapore Thai Restaurants.

The Soft Shell Crab with Curry was something that gave us a good surprise. It was sweet and not overly spicy with fried soft shell crab hidden up by the generous amount of eggs. Decent enough.

An assortment of vegetables, Stir-Fried and tasted sweet in its sauce.

Stir-Fried Mixed Vegetables - 150 Baht

Initially, I was thinking about what kind of hot pot was it till I noticed that the Poached Egg was decorated by strands of crab meat sticks. The egg was fluffy and addictive with its seafood taste.

I'm always a fan of Thai Steamed Fish over the Fire. This Steaming method will bring out the freshness of the steamed fish. The Steamed Fish was often topped with garlic, coriander and chilli all over and in this case, we can drench some fish sauce over it and enjoy it.

Steamed Sea Bass with Lime - 390 Baht

Beancurd's skin was crispy and had a filling taste of innards. Not my favourite choice of appetisers as they tasted bitter but I'm sure my local colleagues do enjoy these with the dipping sauce.

Jopu - 320 Baht

Besides the steamed Sea Bass, the Fried Sea Bass was ordered too. It was popular for its crispiness and it tasted good to pair along with the sauces.

Phad phrik Kaeng with coconut shoots pork, chicken or seafood. Yummy Rice was presented with the real pineapple with fragrant roasted cashew nuts as well as juicy prawns.

Pineapple Baked Rice - 150 Baht

Besides Thai Cuisine, Pa Boon Cafe also offers some Western food. The T Bone Steak is of a big slab paired with sides like garden salad and fries.

The place was an enchanting destination that never fail to impress me from the moment that I walk in through their garden. It has an inviting atmosphere with a cosy environment, not forgetting the variety of mouthwatering Thai Food Dishes they had on their menu.

Fuji Japanese Restaurant (Terminal 21)

Our impromptu dinner ended up in Fuji Japanese Restaurant which is about 5 minutes walk away from our hotel.

We were simply spoilt of choices for there are too many eateries around. We decided on Fuji Japanese Restaurant after a few failed attempts to enter other restaurants for the queue was either too long or there were no available seatings.

Menu of Fuji Japanese Restaurant

The heaty day in Pattaya gave us more reasons to order the fruit frost and here we go, we had the Watermelon, Pineapple and Passion Fruit Frost.

The Gindara Set can be served in Teriyaki Sauce or Shioyaki sauce. The set comes with rice, kimchi, miso soup, Gindara with Teriyaki as well as a Beancurd side. It gave me a surprise with kimchi in my meal as I thought we were having Japanese Cuisine. Afterall, it was my first experience where Japanese Restaurant serves kimchi.

Gindara Set - 770 Baht

The Gindara was yummy in its Teriyaki Sauce. The dish was accompanied by pickles as well as greens.

Gindara

My dining pal had the Tempura set that consisted of Ebi, seaweed and other assortments of vegetables.
It came with a dollop of white radish and tempura dipping sauce.

Tempura Set - 190 Baht

Another one of us had the Tonkatsu set, the taste was ordinary with a thin layer of breaded crispy skin and juicy meat.

Tonkatsu Set - 225 Bahr

Salmon Sashimi was served with 5 slices on a plate. The slices were striking orange in colour and served with lime, wasabi and shredded radish etc.

Salmon Sashimi 三文鱼刺身 - 330 Baht

If you ask me why there are so many salmon dishes, I think my pal had been salmon too much back home. This Alsaka Salmon Roll comes in either 3 / 6 pieces order and each was decorated with a dollop of mayonnaise and fish roe.

The Aburi Salmon was what I like most out of the 3 salmon dishes order as they tasted more flavourful with the use of sauce and in its hints of charred Aburi taste.

After having Fuji Japanese Food, I'm kind of missing my kind of Japanese eatery dishes in Singapore.

Jaedang Samyan (Siam Square branch)

My pals had brought me to Jaedang Samyan in Siam Square when we were discussing street food for dinner. This is Michelin awarded in 2019 too.

Jaedang Samyan (Siam Square branch)

The environment was cosy and seatings are limited. Nonetheless, we manage to get ourselves a table in the midst of peak hours.

Dining Environment

The Thai herbal tea tasted something familiar but not exactly what we had in Singapore. It was not too sweet. After much discussion and "Googling", I finally learnt that this Thai Herbal tea is made up of Dried Bael Fruit.

The Grilled Pork Neck is another grilled food that I enjoyed from Thai Cuisine. Simply love the Chilli Sauce with peanuts and the fried garlic that topped the pork neck, elevating its taste.

Grilled Pork Neck - 129 Baht

While I'm getting used to my favourite dish "Larb Moo" aka Minced Pork Salad, my friends recommended this dish similar to the style but instead of having minced Pork, we had Grilled Pork Neck drenched with the minty and spicy sauce.

Spicy Grilled Pork Neck Salad with Herbs - 115 Baht

The spicy corn salad with salted egg was recommended on the menu. It was a mixture of corn kernels with long beans, tomatoes, shredded carrots and salted egg yolk. It's addictive and tasty.

Spicy Corn Salad with Salted Egg- 95 Baht

Here's the staple dish of Thai Cuisine, Somtum aka the Papaya Salad. Enjoy the spiciness of shredded papaya with crunchy peanuts in a mixture of their tangy and spicy sauce.

Thai Spicy Papaya Salad - 70 Baht

I'm not very used to spiciness and although we requested for a less spicy version, I still find that I could not match the local tastebuds. The Hot & Spicy Soup was appetizing with the meat easily fell off from the bone and ingredients just as Enoki Mushroom, Tomatoes etc. It's addictive but the spiciness was too much for my stomach to take.

Hot & Spicy Soup with Spare Ribs - 125 Baht

The Deep Fried Chicken Thigh was simply delicious. The skin was thin and crackling yummy while the meat was juicy and moist. Dipping them in the given sauce for an additional fiery kick,

Deep Fried Chicken Thigh - 109 Baht

While we often get to pair dishes with plain white rice in our country. I was kind of surprised the Thai do the pairing with Sticky Rice instead. The fragrant sticky rice was served wrapped in a transparent plastic sheet.

Sticky Rice - 20 Baht

While I mentioned that I would like to skip the rice, my Thai pals recommended me to tried out these Rice Noodles. It is smooth and silky, generally thinner than our Thick Bee Hoon.

Thank you Pals for making the arrangement for such a rare meetup. We will meet again.
