Let's Kinn Bro [Media Invite]

While I was at Crown Centre a few weeks back ago, I noticed this Thai Food Place and had it marked in my mind for my next Thai Food Place to go. Let's Kinn Thai started their first outlet in Tanjong Pagar and is popular for their signature Seafood Mama Tom Yum Hot Pots. This is their newest outlet in the West located in Crown Centre with the name Let's Kinn Bro.

557 Crown

There is also a bar and bites corner for drinks with high chairs.

Bar & Bites

The Interior was brightly lited and modernly furnished, leading me to feel comfortable in that environment.

Cha Yen! One of the drinks not to be missed out while having Thai Cuisine! Love the strong taste of Tea and was not too milky. Best of all, the sweetness level was good. These drinks might be good to neutralise the spiciness in the Thai Food too.

Thai Milk Tea - $3.50

When it comes to Thai Snacks, Moo Ping is always my favourite choice! The Moo Ping was juicy and sweet tasting. Love that the meat was quite packed and the bite texture was springy with its marinade.

Thai Moo Ping - $3.90 Each

Perfectly steamed fish with succulent meat. The base was addictive in its sour notes from the Thai Lemon and the lemongrass had given it a light fragrance to the dish apart from the tad mild spicy tones from the garlic slices as well as the chilli.

Thai Steam Seabass with Lemon - $29.90

With the steaming cooking style, the freshness of the fish has been brought out and yes, I do not mind just having the whole fish alone for it tasted refreshing and flavourful.

Succulent Fish Meat

Here's the trending Mama Hot Pot! Hearty pot of rich red Tom Yum broth that gave us spicy, savoury, sweet and sour notes. The assortment of seafood includes Mussels, Squid, River Prawn, prawns and clams.

River Prawn Seafood Mama Hot Pot - $42.90

I love Mama Noodles and these noodles were best consumed with them soaked up the broth. Slurp!

Mama Noodles

The river prawn was yummy and plump. Other than seafood, there are lettuce, mushrooms and enoki shrooms.

Do you want some too?

Mussels

Let's Kinn Bro is a good spot for an authentic Thai meal. Besides the good range of Thai Food they have, they also offer a good range of alcoholic beverages.

Thank you Let's Kin Bro & The PR Salon for the invitation.

Abundance (Redhill)

I'm finally back to Abundance after a year plus! Its good to see that they have been doing well with additional outlets in Jalan Besar. Surprisingly they are still packed with customers on a Weekday evening. I'm glad to see there are new items on the menu! We ordered their Fizzy Drinks to pair with our meal.

Fizzy Iced Lemon Tea 柠檬茶 & Fizzy Lychee Oolong Tea 荔枝乌龙茶 - $4.90 each

I'm glad that there was no price hike for this Gua Bao and still tasted as good. The luscious and well-braised pork belly topped with hand-roasted peanuts, house pickles and coriander still made up this signature Bun Dish.

Gua Bao 刈包 - $7.90

If you love the Salted Egg savoury sauce, you will be attracted to this. The prawn patty texture were springy and bouncy coupled with delicious and rich Salted egg sauce together with crispy egg floss. not forgetting the soft bun that cradled the ingredients.

Salted Egg Prawn Bun 咸蛋虾包 - $13.90

On their recommendation list! The braised beef shank was flavourful and paired with sesame egg, house pickles and topped with crispy garlic that enhanced the fragrance of the dish. On a side note, the vegetables of the house pickles can be better if they prepared it in smaller piece.

Braised Beef Bowl 牛腱卤肉饭 - $16.90

The San Bei aka 3 Cups Oyster Mushrooms was to die for. It was an additive side dish to me as I could not resist myself and kept popping them into my mouth. The dish had a well-blended taste of basil, rice wine and sesame oil.

San Bei Mushrooms 三杯杏鲍菇 - $13.90

With the seating limitation, our empty plates and bowls were quickly taken away by the servers. It was good that they are efficient but on the contrary, such efficiency kind of gives us a feel that we have to dine within a period.

Just 5 minutes walk away from Redhill MRT station, you will get to this Adundance Taiwanese Style Cafe that is located under the HDB flats.

ABunDance

Though there is both outdoor and indoor seating, the space is still of a limited capacity.

Abundance

The music in Abundance foster a relaxed and chilling environment. Furthermore, they have Craft Beers on tap as well as having them in the fridge. It would not be a bad choice if you want to have some beer over some Taiwanese Food.

Drinks?

The Fizzy Iced Lemon Tea comes with a taste of Iced Lemon Tea mixed with soda was refreshing. It was served in a small glass cup with ice cubes. I find that the amount was too little for me and I might need 3 cups for meal.

Fizzy Iced Lemon Tea - $3.90

Under the beverage menu, there are only 5 non-alocholic choices and only the Fizzy Iced Lemon Tea and Apple Sidra are something that we would not find off the shelves usually.

Apple Sidra 苹果西打  - $3.90

"Golden Egg" on the menu looked interesting. It was actually fried century egg wrapped in spring roll skin topped with bonito flakes and drizzled with sweet and spicy sauce.

Golden Egg  - $6

The preparation may be of something different but the taste as a whole was rather ordinary.

Century Egg in Spring Roll Skin

If you were to ask me, I find nothing exciting in its taste. The taste is rather distinctive in the individual ingredients used. I would say its just some crispy roll over century egg, bonito flakes and chilli sauce taste.

Fried Century Egg

The Gua Bao, a popular street food in Taiwan is also the first item on their menu. I guess most of us are here for this! This distinctive Asian Burger was sandwiched by a savoury brasied pork belly, generously spreaded with sweet peanuts, pickles and decorated with the Chinese parsely.

Gua Bao 刈包 - $7.90

The chef used to make their buns in house but due to manpower issues, they have to resort in using factory made ones to meet the demand.

Side View of the Gua Bao

The thick pork belly was melty yet not over greasy. Totally flavourful and strike a good balance of fat and meat.

It may be messy but definitely worth it

Braised Beef Noodles was awesome. The thin noodles were fresh and served in a bundle without sticking together with braised beef golden coin. The broth may looked spicy and oily but it holds a good buttery scent that I like.

Beef Noodles 红烧牛肉面 - $16.90

The texture of the noodles was smooth and the braised beef was tender and disintegrate easily.

Tender Beef

The bowl of fried rice is the most expensive item on the menu. The fried rice was cooked with beef fat and topped with slices of short rib. There is a strong whiff of truffle fragrance from this dish which kept my stomach growling. Mixed the Sou Vides egg into the fried rice together with the Tobiko to enjoy a different texture.

Niu Yolk 牛小排 - $19

100g of beef short ribs were included. Price is steep but its okay to indulge once a while. We topped up the dish with Tobiko at $2. The portion may be a little small if you are sharing. I absolutely love how this dish is executed especially with the runny onsen egg that gave a golden goodness and creamier taste!

Topped up Tobiko - $2

All in all, I find that the food is not too bad and I don't mind revisiting Abundance again.

Mentai-Ya Japanese Cuisine @ Clementi Central [Media Invite]

Mentai-Ya has more than 8 outlets located islandwide in Singapore. They aim to provide an affordable Japanese Don to our neighbourhood coffee shops with their signature Mentaiko Dishes.

Mentai-Ya

They have about 10 kinds of Dons available in their menu and 6 kinds of sides for us. Besides Mentai, they do have some other Don without Mentai like Curry Don and Salmon Belly Don.

Menu

We do not want to miss the opportunity of trying out their best sellers on the menu and we had the Chicken Mentai Don as well as Salmon Mentai Don. However, for the sides, we only ordered their Tamago Mentai which was the best seller as we were not too a fan of fries.

Chicken Mentai Don & Salmon Mentai Don.- $8.80 & $9.80

The Mentai on sweet-tasting tamago was delicious.

Tamago Mentai - $5

The Spicy Mentai Soft Shell Crab was a tad spicy but not overpowering. It was crispy and was not oily.

Tamago Mentai & Spicy Mentai Soft Shell Crab - $5 & $7

Love the value-for-money Thick Cut of Chicken coated generously with Mentai. The burnt aka "Aburi" taste on the Mentai together with the piece of tender chicken was yummy.

Chicken Mentai Don

The Salmon was tasty on its own and was topped with good amount of savoury Mentai Sauce too.

 Salmon Mentai Don.

Thank you Mentai-Ya and ThePRSalon for the invitation.

Smile Dessert [Media Invite]

Let's head to level of of Clementi Mall and have some dessert !

Smile Dessert @ Clementi Mall

The furnishings of Smile Dessert in Clementi Mall looked simple and neat with green lighting. I was told that each of their outlets has a different theme.

Counter

I thought this signage is special as it stated: "I Miss You in Singapore".

I Miss You In Singapore

A good playground for the kids in the balls of plastic balls while their parents can enjoy their drinks and dessert by the side.

Kids Corner

The Sweet New Honey Souffle was something out of our expectations. The stack of Souffle was fluffy and wobbly, definitely, a Must Try on their Menu. Drizzling the Honey over the souffle and a mixture of Sweet Mango and Strawberry is yummy.

Honey Souffle

Original Tiramisu was served in a square container adorned with strawberries and cream. Savoury and yummy without being too bitter while on the other hand the sweetness was not too cloying too.

Original Tiramisu - $8.90

Simply love the soft and spongy Tiramisu as well as its texture.

A scoop of Tiramisu

Drinks are made up of perfumed lemon and hand beaten 20 times. It gave 10 times Vitamin C and smells refreshing.

Shou Da Ning Meng

We had the Perfume Lemon Ice Tea for $4.90 and Perfume Thai Green Tea $5.90.

Grape Lolli Ice - $12.90

Grape Lolli Ice was made up of 2 types of grapes and the ice was minty in flavour. It was well decorated with grapes and once you sink the spoon deeper into the ice you get to enjoy

Lolli Ice

Overall I find that the sweetness level is acceptable for the items we had. We are pleased with the desserts and do not mind returning for more desserts. Perhaps it will be even better to visit their other outlets for their theme.

Thank you Smile Dessert for the invitation.

Huei Ge Duck Rice

I learnt of Huei Ge Braised Duck Rice a few years back when I was at the place for the Original Botak Jones which is located just 2 stalls away. The stall was seen very busy with long queues and there are only 2 men on the job with one chopping the meat and handling the braised ingredients while the other is preparing noodles and rice.

Huei Ge Duck Rice

We ordered Kway Chap for 2 Pax and topped up our meal with braised duck. The braised sauce over the braised ingredients was definitely generous and awesome. The plate includes braised pork belly, braised duck, eggs, peanuts, intestines as well as fish cakes.

Kway Chap with Braised Duck - $13

While some places had the base of the ingredients decked up by a bed of cucumbers, Huei Ge had just 2-3 pieces of them only. These were absolutely value for money and perhaps that explains the length of the queue.

On the other hand, the bowls of Kway were topped to the brim with tasty soup as well as some braised sauce on it.

Braised Items with Braised Duck

Despite the non-ending queue, Huei Ge's attitude towards customers still remains cool and smiley. There was no frowning or anger seen coming out from the busy hawker and instead, he apologised for our wait.

Altogether, we waited about 45 minutes for our food. There are about 15 pax ahead of me and in between, there were some takeaway orders too. As they were located right next to the toilet, there were intermittent toilet odour lingering in the passage where our queue is.

If you asked if it is worth the wait, I will nod my head. However, if you are in a rush for time, you may want to seek an alternative from their neighbouring stall. I will very much like to give their braised duck rice a try if I ever get a chance to be back here. Huei Ge's Kway Chap is on the top of my list now.
