87 Just Thai Killiney

Just Thai is a humble eatery that delivers bold, authentic Thai flavors without the frills. Whether you're craving classic dishes like pad thai, tom yum soup, or lesser-known street food gems, this cozy spot offers a comforting taste of Thailand in a relaxed, no-fuss setting. The aroma of herbs and spices hits you the moment you walk in, setting the tone for a satisfying and fiery meal ahead.

The Stir-Fried Kang Kong Belachan had just the right amount of heat — aromatic and flavorful without being overwhelmingly spicy, making it an easy favourite at the table.

Stir-Fried Kang Kong Belachan - $8

The Claypot Tang Hoon with Prawns was a comforting and satisfying dish, the glass noodles absorbed the rich, savoury sauce beautifully, while the prawns were fresh, plump, and juicy. Served bubbling hot in a metal claypot, it had that warm, hearty appeal perfect for sharing.

Claypot Tang Hoon with Prawns - $15

The Seabass with Thai Spicy Lime Sauce was absolutely addictive, tender, fresh fish perfectly soaked up the zesty, tangy sauce, which delivered a kick of heat and brightness in every bite. A must-try for lovers of bold Thai flavours.

Seabass with Thai spicy lime sauce - $29

The Stir-Fried Minced Chicken with Hot Basil Leaves was absolutely yummy, fragrant with basil, packed with flavour from shallots, and delightfully textured with long beans and juicy minced meat. A classic Thai comfort dish done right.

Tom Yum Soup (Red) at Just Thai offers a variety of options, seafood, vegetables, chicken, prawns, or fish. We opted for chicken, and the soup delivered a comforting tang with its signature lemongrass aroma. It struck a nice balance between spicy and sour, making it a satisfying and hearty start to the meal.

Tom Yum Soup (Red) - $9

Just Thai’s Black Olive Fried Rice with Minced Chicken is a flavour-packed dish with wok-fried rice, earthy olives, and tender chicken. Served with lime, chili, shallots, and crunchy cashews, every bite is a mix of bold and refreshing notes.

Black Olive Fried Rice with Minced Chicken - $9

Moo Ping (Grilled Pork Skewers) is easily one of my favourite Thai street foods,  juicy, slightly charred, and marinated to perfection with a sweet-savory glaze that keeps you coming back for more.

87 Just Thai at Killiney truly delivers an authentic and satisfying Thai dining experience with its well-executed classics and bold flavors. Kei Kaisendon

The friend decided to have Kei Kaisendon for our lunch and I agreed. Known for serving delicious rice bowls topped with fresh sashimi from the seas of Japan. Every dish is specially designed with the right blend of fish, toppings and seasonings.

Menu

Before even having our food served, the complementary bowl of salmon miso soup and garden salad were served to us.

Complementary Starters

The soup was tasty alone with white radish and seaweed as well as salmon meat even without our main order.

Miso Soup

Love munching the big piece of seaweed and pairing them with the bowl of Chirashi. This is the top recommended dish on the menu and there are a mixture of scallop, prawn, ungai, tuna, salmon etc. The combination of sauces and dice of small cucumber cubes excites my tastebuds. It's very addictive bowl of Chirashi and in no time, I find the entire bowl of food.

Chirashi Kaisendon - $28.90

The Kei Signature is rated as their Top 2 in the menu and comes in 3 sizes, Small, Regular or Large.
The ingredients is similar to the Chirashi Kaisendon blessing out the Unagi

Kei Signature Kaisendon

Topping up the meal with 3 pieces of Sesame Tofu and a glass of green tea to make the meal a set.

Sesame Tofu - $4.90

We also make another set meal by adding Chicken Drumlets & green tea. The Chicken Drumlets were savoury

Their service was friendly and speedy. I will be definitely back at Kaisendon again for their food.

Charlie Brown Cafe

The craze about snoopy has come back again and yes recently I had watched the Charlie Brown movie and it had kind of encourage me to visit their theme Cafe in Cineleisure after such a long long time. For those who are unaware, there are two Charlie Brown Cafes in Singapore and the other one is located in One KM Mall.

Charlie Brown Cafe
Charlie Brown Cafe in Cineleisure is located at 4th Storey in one corner. Be greeted by the simple and cool looking snoopy in its shades at the doors.

Snoopy
Hospitality from Charlie Brown Cafe is not too bad as you are greeted by snoopy and charlie brown with a menu in his sincere look.

Charlie Brown with Menu
In its theme cafe, you get to watch their cartoon programs from the television, plush on the sofa, and you can even enjoy kinds Charlie Brown related toys, stationery off their display shelf.

Snoopy and Charlie Brown! Take a Selfie Here!

Shelf
If you notice, you will see Charlie Brown's face right at the doorstep on the cement screed flooring.

Charlie Brown at the entrance.
The best thing about chicken wings is that they have to be served hot, golden on the outside and juicy on the inside. The signature wings fit all of that.

Signature Charlie Wings - $10.80
Nothing beats my all time favourite choice of Pizza for I'm an absolute Hawaiian Lover. Just right that their Hawaiian Pizza is one of their recommendations. Its thin crunchy crust was baked to perfect edges, charred and spreaded with juicyturkey hams, pineapple cubes on a tomato base mixed with mozzarella cheese. Yum Yum!

Hawaiian Pizza - $12.80
Crepe on the other hand was quite normal, folded with nutella chocolate wrapped inside and served with a scoopy of cookies & cream ice cream.

Snoopy's Chocolate - $9.80
The crepe for this had snoopy drawn out of their chocolate powder.

Crepe

Overall, it was quite entertaining dinning in a Theme Cafe like this. I don't mind coming back again for their mains.

Mak's Noodle [Closed]

I literally hear the screams from my foodie pals when Mak's Noodle opened its doors in Singapore. For those who has been to Hong Kong, Mak's is well known for its Cantonese fare that serve springy noodles as well as dumplings pack of chunky prawn.

Since Center point is undergoing partial renovation, the crowd in the mall is generally lesser than thrice the amount of headcounts they used to have. And for Mak's being reputable in their food, I am considered lucky as there was no queue like what I saw in their Westgate Branch.

Mak's Noodle
Service standards was fast and steady. Servers conversed in Cantonese, creating a different environment and unusual feel in that split seconds. Every table is also unique with its own table number tagging at the edge of the table.

Unique Table Number

There was no utensils available on the table like most restaurant have. To our surprise, the servers told us that they were available in the drawer attached to the table.

Open the drawers for the Utensils
Texture of the noodles were springy and noodle strands are generally thinner. Servings portion were nothing unusual from what they had been practicing all these while in their Hong Kong Branches. Such taste from the soup reminded me of my last trip in Hong Kong about 4 years back where I had the same thing from Mak's Noodle somewhere near the Peak.

Wanton & Dumpling Noodle Soup - $8.50
Since Wantons & Dumplings are their signature's we ordered such combination in the noodle soup. Just exactly like what people had been raving about, their wanton was thinly wrapped and through the translucent skin, you get to have a gauge of the size of the prawn in it.

Succulent Wanton
The style of Dumplings was similar to the wantons, just that the latter comes in a rounder shape while dumplings are wrapped in elongated shape. Ingredients like fine cuts of black fungus and fresh shrimps were added. I still can remember the bite on the shrimps, simply fabulous!

Are you hungry now?
Another of their signature will be Toss Noodle with Chutney Pork. Soup came in a separate bowl topped with chives. However, do note that the soup is different from the ones in dumplings and wantons as they tasted alot more peppery here.

Toss Noodle with Chutney Pork - $8.30
Is this the Chinese version of Bolognese Sauce Spaghetti (Angel's Hair) ? Seems like it! The sauce is utterly scrumptious and not any fatty. Awesome! Have a good toss of thin noodles and the Chutney Pork in an evenly manner.

Yummy
Aren't you glad that you don't have to travel all the way to Hong Kong to have a taste of Mak's Noodle? It's simply worth a try if you have not done it.

Fire Grill Western Cuisine

Western Cuisine Stall over in Food Republic has been left untenanted for quite sometime and my attention was drawn away by the Fire Grill Western Cuisine during my last trip to 313 Food Republic. The stall is considered located at the prime location as anyone who took the escalator up to Food Republic most probably has to pass by the stall.

Fire Grill Cuisine
Its availability of 20 choices in the menu in the printed menu flashed at the wall of the stall was simply captivating. Though it may be featuring the common items like Chicken Chop, Fish & Chips, Pork Chop and pasta, their pictures were outstandingly featured with charred grill criss cross lines on the meat. How can we resist such temptations?

Menu

Pork Chop Aglio Olio was never dull with mixed Capsicums cubes complementing the strands of yellow spaghetti. I would prefer it to be a little less cook as the texture was abit fat and I felt that it was just a stage before the pasta turned soggy. Nevertheless, with enough olive oil used, the pasta did not stick together.

Pork Chop Pasta - $9.50
Never expect pork chop to be leaned. It has substantial amount of fats as well as meat & bones. It was done perfectly with its flesh attaching to its bone but worry not, with the sharp cutlery, only a little effort require to tear them off the bone, taken in consideration that the nature of pork is tough. And of course, the brown peppery sauce went well to the two slab of pork chop. Oinks!

Supply & Demand

While discussing on the venue for our dinner gathering, I pointed out to Supply & Demand at Orchard but was being ignored as my buddies thought I was off the topic instead of suggesting a place for dinner. It was until i repeated quite a number of times then my group of friends realized that there was actually this place called "Supply & Demand" in Orchard Gateway.

Supply & Demand
It's easy to spot the place as it was within a short distance to Somerset MRT Station linking to the exit towards Orchard Gateway. Head up to the escalator into level two and you will find them at one corner.

When I was there initally, there wasn't any queue, and it was like minutes away when I went to pick my friend and crowd flew in.

The queue
Menu
Environment was bustling and packed. Interior had illustrated a semi industrial concept with open ceiling that reveal the height and pipping of the place. With its wooden chairs, tables as well as faux trees around, ambiance had changed towards a semi industrial and garden place, relaxing and somewhere where we can spend all night chilling without getting uncomfortable.

Interior
Though S & D (Supply & Demand) was supposed to be serving Italian Food. They have reserved a page on their menu for S.E.A (South East Asia) Flavours. Patrons get to enjoy familar snacks like Otak, Spring rolls and other dishes etc.

Recommended under the S.E.A section, we find no reasons not to order these drumlets. It comes in a pot of 5, these mouth watering crispy drumlets kick start our dinner. Served with addictive Homemade Spicy Dipping Sauce.

Crispy Chicken Drumlets - 12
Find these lip smackingly good starters as you enjoy these drumlets with a dab of chilli.

Drumlet
Aglio Olio was perfectly done with its pasta cooked to its Al Dente Texture, it had already won my stomach. There were no doubt on the quality of their incoming dishes. It was stronger in its Garlicky flavours so as to remove the seafood smell from the prawns. It wasn't too greasy and was done up with a classic dressing of Hot Olive Oil as well as Dried Chilli Pepper.

Aglio Olio - $15
What is Italian Cuisine noted for? It's advisable not to leave a Italian Restaurant without trying their Pizzas especially when S & D is famous for! The regular pizza size comes in 9" and you can opt for a larger size at 13". Having it thin crust, it was really hard to say no to them. Spreaded with Tomato sauce as its based with Mozzarella and Parama Ham, the pizza is topped with Rucola Salad (with rocket leaves) and shaved Parmesan cheese drizzled with olive oil. Crust was baked till a textural bite like what we got from biting a biscuit, this style is true to its namesake.

Prosciutto Di Parma 13" - $24
Main courses were prepared differently daily base on the decisions of the chef and came with 2 sides. Pork was rather fatty lending an unctuous essence to the dish overall. The tangy sauce gave a perfect marriage to the dish. Sides like grilled assorted vegetables include red bell pepper, squash, carrot and cucumber.

Asian Pork Rack - $30
Grilled to the perfect done-ness according to our preference, this juicy slab of Medium Well Done Angus Beef Ribeye left us with a satisfying meal. We had the plate polished clean even though the former main course was served first. The charred checked surface and its glistering layer under the light were simply irresistible. With juices yielding to knife's cut, it gave a ever-so-satisfying to cut into. Focusing into the middle cut, meat was pinkish without being bloody. I like it best when it was paired with the savoury Red-Wine Flavoured brown mushroom sauce. Thinking about it, it seems like another trip down to S & D is right on my list.

Austrialian Angus Beef Ribeye (250g) - $38

With a limited timing session due to that the table was reserved, though we still managed to enjoy our dinner and finished them up just in time, it was such a waste that we could not try out the Italian Desserts. Therefore, it is recommended to do reservations first to avoid disappointment. In my case, we had queued about 30 minutes before getting a seat for 4 pax. Food quality as well as services are definitely up to standard. However if you need some place to chit chat, S & D may not be appropriate as you may need to raise your voice against other tables and with a time limitation, its really hard.

Dae Ssik Sin

I haven't been a fan of Korean BBQ lately as I was at the weather's mercy with bad throat and was  not too keen on any heaty food. Since it was celebrating one of my pal's birthday, I decided to join them and check out what's the rave on this Korean Buffet Dinner in Orchard Gateway. Initially when we reached around 7pm on a Friday evening, the queue was still bearable however, once we return about 15 minutes later, long snaky queue was formed.

Queues

Environment was spacious with electronic BBQ Pit with infra light affixed onto every table and with adjustable ventilator to vacuum the smoke out from the place.  Depth of the BBQ equipment was rather shallow but at a easier reach to diners. As soon as we sat down, the staff switched on the pit and started applying butter on the hot surface.

BBQ
Occupying a big section in the mall with tall ceilings. It makes the place rather spacious without having too many narrow walkways in between the tables.

Adjustable Ventilator
Over at the side counter, there are ready cooked food for those who are hungry, at least you can have some food while waiting for the raw items to be barbequed.

Cooked Food
Besides rice, you get to have soup selection like seaweed or kimchi soup.

Seaweed Soup
You can also find Korean Style Sushi from the trays too.

Sushi
Move over to the bar selection, you get to have the usual korean snack like Kimchi pancake, fried potato, sweet potato, glass noodles, kimchi fried rice and even spicy rice cakes. These cooked food wasn't too impressive as the stirred fried glass noodles were rather salty and pancake was rather dry.

Add caption
Just grab a plate and place them on your plate.

My Buffet Plate
While most buffet places would have charged additional for drinks, what we are paying here is all inclusive and unlimited flow. Besides the typical soft drinks available, this soda mix fruits drink caught my attention. Fruits like apple, dragon fruit, watermelon and soda were mixed together. Quite a refreshing treat after so much heat from the BBQ items.

Fruits Soda
Just too bad the seafood selection were not wide enough but if you want to make the trip worth your every cent, you can just whack the prawns. Dae Ssik Sin is also quite concerned about the level of food hygiene and had pasted note not to mix up the tongs.

Seafood
Get you dose of meat intake here! Besides the seafood column, I think having Pork and Beef will make the buffet trip worthwhile too. The section consist of chicken bulgogi, pork marinated rib, pork belly, beef bulgogi, spicy chicken collar to bacon.

Meat Section
Meat was definitely fresh with quantity replenished promptly by the attentive staff on duty.

Red Meat
Meat were well marinated and beef short plate was thinly sliced and curled up.

Beef

Meat
Let's hands on. Do not worry about the base turning black as the friendly staff will get it change once you feel uncomfortable about the charred base.

BBQ-ing the meat
Take a look at the clip.

Pork Belly

With all the bulgogi, it's time to make your own Bossam time! Grab a piece of leafy big enough to cover ingredients.

Vegetables
Add onion and bean paste for flavour.

Bean Paste
Also not forgetting their kimchi !

Kimchi
With so many korean BBQ restaurants popping up recently, competition is real though. Price over here in Dae Ssik Sin is quite reasonable taking in consideration that they are located in the town area. Here's the price as follows:

Weekday Lunch                    : $14.90++ (adult)/ $8.90++ (child)
Dinner                                    : $24.90++/$18.90++

Weekend and PH (all day)   : $24.90++/ $18.90++

I would rate Korean BBQ restaurant base on the variety of food, service and the smoky level. Food and service are generally the average side but as for smoke, with so many places introducing the smokeless, I find that they still need to catch up on this portion as I still feel like a walking BBQ after meal.
