Nami Korean Grill House

Visiting Premium Korean Barbecue Singapore at Nami Korean Grill House by Hanjip along Greenwood Avenue felt like a quiet escape from the usual bustling malls and crowded eateries.

The Signboard

As we settled in, we were welcomed with a beautifully presented wooden box of banchan, neatly divided into four sections, kimchi, seaweed, candied fried lotus root, and pickles,  a pleasant and thoughtful start to the meal.

To pair with our BBQ feast, we had the Lychee, Green Grape, and Peach Chorong Chorong soju, which added a light, fruity touch to the experience.

For appetisers, we began with the Hamachi Carpaccio. The thick cuts of hamachi were dressed in a zesty seasoning and topped with vibrant orange roe, instantly whetting our appetite.

We also had the Hanjip Kale Salad, tossed in a roasted sesame sauce with raisins, grapes, and almond flakes, offering a refreshing balance before the grilled meats.

The seafood pancake truly deserves a little more praise. Crisp and golden brown on the outside while remaining soft and fluffy within, it was pan-fried to near perfection. Each bite was generously packed with seafood and scallions, giving it a satisfying texture without being overly doughy or starchy.

Served sizzling on a hotplate with dipping sauce on the side, the slight char on the edges added an extra layer of aroma and flavour that made it hard to stop at just one slice.

The Oyster Blade showcased a striking web of marbling across the meat, indicating how flavourful this cut would be. Slightly firmer in bite compared to ribeye but equally enjoyable, it carried a deep beefy taste and remained succulent after grilling, making it a satisfying cut for those who enjoy a more robust texture.

Referring to the meat platter, the USDA Prime Ribeye immediately stood out with its beautiful, intricate marbling running evenly through the cut. The fat distribution promised tenderness, and once grilled, the beef turned incredibly juicy, buttery, and rich in flavour with a melt-in-the-mouth texture that premium ribeye lovers would appreciate.

The Pork Collar, the only marinated meat among the selection, was well-infused with seasoning that enhanced the natural sweetness of the pork. With a good balance of lean meat and fat, it grilled beautifully, developing a slight caramelisation on the surface while staying juicy and flavourful inside.

Look at its marbling

The beef short ribs soup was comforting and stomach-warming, especially between bites of grilled meat. Filled with onions and slices of beef, the broth was light yet flavourful, offering a soothing contrast to the richness of the barbecue.

The marinated prawns were another delightful addition. Fresh and plump, they absorbed the marinade well and turned slightly smoky and sweet once grilled, adding a pleasant seafood element to the meal.

Marinated Prawns

What elevated the entire dining experience was the attentive service from the staff.

Assistant at Work

They took charge of the grilling process, carefully monitoring the heat and doneness of each cut to ensure the meats were cooked to perfection.

When Mouth gets into the Air

Once ready, they skillfully cut the meats into bite-sized pieces, allowing us to enjoy the barbecue at its best without worrying about overcooking.

Yummy

This thoughtful assistance not only ensured optimal taste and texture but also made the meal far more relaxing and enjoyable.

Well BBQ

Overall, dining at Nami Korean Grill House by Hanjip felt like a premium Korean BBQ experience that goes beyond just quality meats. From the thoughtfully presented banchan and well-executed appetisers to the beautifully marbled cuts of beef and attentive grilling service, every element came together seamlessly. Coupled with the peaceful Greenwood Avenue setting, it made for a relaxed yet indulgent meal that Korean barbecue lovers in Singapore would truly appreciate.

The Curry Wok

Returning to The Curry Wok after 6 years, this time with friends to relive and savour the comforting flavours of Peranakan cuisine together.

The Interior has not got much changes and still remains neat and simple with some B&W pictures in frame hanging along both sides of the wall into the eatery.

When I spotted Buah Long Long on the drinks menu, I ordered it immediately. It's not something you see every day. The drink was unmistakably sour yet perfectly balanced with a touch of sweetness, making it uniquely refreshing and so enjoyable.

The steamed otah was served as a compact block, resting on a base of banana leaf that added a subtle aroma to every bite. Its texture was soft and moist, with a gentle heat that made it enjoyable even for those who prefer milder spice levels.

Delectable and comforting, it paired perfectly with the plain plates of rice we had, turning a simple meal into something even more satisfying.

The homemade Ngo Hiang was packed generously, each roll filled to the brim and wrapped in a thin, crispy layer of beancurd skin that added a delightful crunch. Every slice was uniformly cut, making it easy to enjoy piece by piece. Simply dip it into the sweet dipping sauce and savour the satisfying blend of textures and flavours in every bite.

The Braised Pork Knuckle was an absolute showstopper the moment it was placed before us. Its glossy, collagen-rich skin glistened invitingly, while the meat beneath was incredibly tender.

With just a little effort, it fell cleanly off the bone, revealing rich, savoury flavours that made every bite deeply satisfying.

The Curry Fish Head was another highlight of the 4-pax meal. The fish head was undeniably fresh, soaking up the rich and fragrant curry that carried just the right depth of flavour. Generous chunks of ladies’ fingers, brinjal, and tomatoes simmered within the gravy, adding both colour and texture to the dish. It was a hearty, comforting classic that tied the meal together beautifully.

The Chap Chye complemented the meal wonderfully. The cabbage, black fungus, carrot, and vermicelli were simmered until soft, soaking up the naturally sweet and comforting broth. It was a simple yet satisfying dish that balanced the richer flavours on the table.

We ended the meal on a sweet and refreshing note with the honey jelly lime dessert. Served chilled, it carried a pleasant sourness that balanced beautifully with its subtle sweetness. Light, zesty, and cooling. It was the perfect finish after a hearty spread.

We also had Cheng Teng, which came generously filled with longan, gingko nuts, sago, red dates, and white fungus. The sweetness was well-balanced, not overpowering at all, making it a wonderfully comforting dessert to end the meal with.

For the hot dessert, we enjoyed Teochew Orh Nee, a classic treat packed with traditional flavours and pure comfort. Rich, smooth, and utterly satisfying, it was a delightful way to round off the meal.

Overall, the meal was a well-rounded feast filled with familiar flavours, generous portions, and comforting dishes that truly hit the spot. From appetisers to desserts, each item brought its own charm to the table, creating a satisfying dining experience from start to finish. It was one of those meals that reminded us why sharing good food with good company is always worth the trip.
