Chindamani Indian Restaurant Pte Ltd

The stall caught my attention with its long snaky queue a few months back when I was in Serangoon North Area for breakfast. Since I already had my breakfast during then, it was not possible for me to handle another meal in a short span of time.

Chindamani, is located at one corner of the coffee shop and they pride themselves on their popular crispy roti prata since 2008. They are customer service orientated and aims to provide quality food.

The stall is considerably big and they have plastered a lot of photos on the pillar.

Over at the counter, the crew will ask the total number of Prata for the order and once ready, they will stack everything up on a plate. Thereafter, they will provide you with the number of plates and curry accordingly.

Egg Onion and Kosong Prata - $7 (2 pieces each)

We were lucky during the time of visit as we were not required to queue. We ordered Egg Onions and Kosong Prata. Just as the signboard mentioned, they are crispy in texture and did not disappoint. It is a near texture to eating biscuit but in a thin form if this style floats your boat.

Comparing its crispiness between the 2 types of prata which we had ordered, the Kosong Prata will be better.

It was a good experience enjoying crispy and not that oily prata.

Chris Kway Chap 瑞庆粿汁

Sometimes back when the article of UMakeMeHungry on social media was about Kway Chap, one of the netizens mentioned that Chris Kway Chap is the best Kway Chap and highly recommended it. It is not a surprise with a long snaky queue in front of the stall, especially on a weekend. For those who are residing in the Eastern part of Singapore, Chris Kway Chap is perhaps undoubtly one of the top popular Stalls there.

The Stall was attended by 2 crews with one preparing the food and the other taking the order. A look into the stall and we can see that pots of braised innards were well organized.

Chris Kway Chap has clearly indicated the price of the Set Menu based on the number of pax.  Set Menu comprises of 5 items including Kway to choose from.

1 Pax: $6
2 Pax: $10
3 Pax: $16.50
4 Pax: $21.50
5 Pax: $26.50
6 Pax: $31.50

We had ordered a set for 2 and the portion seems to be not a lot considering the price paid. We have Skin, Pork Belly, intestine, Tau Gua and eggs.

The braised sauce is of the savoury type whereby it tasted on a sweeter side with herby notes.
The tangy chilli sauce has complemented the fatty pork bellies, braised innards and meat.

The rice sheet aka Kway is of smooth texture and goes well with the broth, with garlic bits and oil elevating its flavours.

No doubt that Chris Kway Chap tastes better than the average, Considering a hawker fare of $10 for 2 pax, the price of their Kway Chap is on the higher side. If I'm residing or passing by in the area I won't mind paying and queuing for their food. Just too bad, I'm more inclined to the ones I prefer in the Western Part of Singapore.

Chocolate Granola + Hazelnut & Caco Nib

This Granola goes best with some cut fruits, Yogurt or milk. They can be served in a jar or bowl or best if you prefer to munch them straight right from their packaging.

Matcha Granola + Cashew & Almond

Isn't it wonderful to have them all natural?

Jia Xiang Traditional Noodle House

I was introduced to this Lor Mee Stall in Bukit Batok recently. Jia Xiang Traditional Noodle House offers a wide range of noodle dishes, ranging from Home Made Noodles, Laksa to Lor Mee.

Lor Mee was recommended on the signboard among all other dishes. The Lor gravy was of the right thickness and was not too gluey.

Lor Mee
Lor Mee - $3.50

By default, I chose traditional flat yellow noodles. Though it was charged at $3.50, the ingredients in the bowl were more than what I have on a bowl of Lor Mee somewhere else.

Not many places include this Wu Xiang (aka Ngoh Hiong) nowadays and the texture was just right with a bit of hardness to go along with the noodles.

Look at the glistering pork belly about the braised gravy. Simply love the braised flavours on this thinly cut strips of belly.

Venchi

Sometimes it's good to indulge and splurge a little for ice cream! The dense and creaminess from the Gelato gives good pleasure to the tongue. Windows shopping in MBS (Marina Bay Sands) ended me up with a cone on my hand. Pistachio flavour was dull green in colour and savoury rich.

Pistachio

Well, whenever I am at Takashimaya I have an issue taking my eyes away from the flavours of ice cream at Venchi. My eyes will automatically search for Stracciatella and you can say that it's my all-time favourite. Having 2 scoops regular at $10, I get to choose another flavour. I took the Hazelnut as my second choice, it does have a subtle fragrant of Hazelnut with nutty texture among the creaminess but still could not beat my favourite Stracciatella.

Topping up the meal with Chawanmushi. The Japanese Steamed Egg Consists of Japanese Fish Cake, chicken, mushroom and Ginkgo Nut.

Chawanmushi - $2.20

Topping up the set at $3 with Salad and rice. Salad comes with greens, shredded cabbage and cheery tomatoes topped with roasted sesame sauce.

Double Karubi Set (200g) - $21.80

The star of the meal will be this A5 Miyazaki Wagyu that is one of the world's best beef boosting the highest quality of Japanese Black Breed.

The Miyazaki Sukiyaki came in a bowl of thin slices of meat soaked in a dark sauce with a small block of butter given with assorted mushrooms by the side.

Wagyu A5 Miyazaki Rib Rosu Steak & Sukiyaki - $58.80

Place Miyazaki Sukiyaki in the aluminium tray with mushrooms, butter and heated them over the grill.

Sukiyaki

Once the meat turns brown and the mushrooms turn soft, get ready to eat. It tasted so good with the sauce soaked among the meat and mushrooms.

Sukiyaki

The uniform marbling of meat was a beauty. It tells us the quality of Miyazaki Rib Rosu Steak.

Looking at the nicely form patterns from the Miyazaki Karuki, I could not help but to say that its making me hungry even now.

I'm getting impatient as I wait for the meat to be grilled. Haha.

This is way too yummy. The grilled beef is so good in the sauce alone.

Even the fragrant pearl white rice complements it well.

Pairing with white rice

With a number of Yakiniku Go Outlets in the malls, there is a high chance that I will return for their food. For the quality, I will say that money is well spent. The service was good and I noticed that the staff holds a bag of cleaning kit to clean up the table after customers left. This made them look so professional.

Fei Lou Porridge

A return trip to Telok Blangah Cresent Market and Food Centre on purpose to try out this popular stall in the neighbourhood. As expected, there is already a queue there.

Fei Lou Porridge
Fei Lou Porridge

As much as we like to order, our tummy could not fill up all the things on the menu. Though we have ordered the staples like poached chicken, fried chicken wings and porridge over here, we are still lacking of their Fried Bee Hoon, braised chicken feet and Tau Ki.

The Orders
The Orders

The approach of presenting the poached chicken is definitely one of a kind. The half poached chicken was decked by peanuts and looked glistering with some sauce over it. It tasted a bit salty but a perfect marriage to the sweet plain porridge.

Poached Chicken (Half)

Although it's a plain porridge that we had ordered, it has a sweet-tasting base. The creamy and fragrant porridge is topped by some spring onion, crispy fried bee hoon s as well as a dash of sesame oil.

Plain Porridge

Chicken Wings are special here. Not only are they cooked to order, but they are also actually boneless. It is best to order 2 pieces at $2.60 and if you are ordering just one, it will cost you $2.

Chicken Wings (Boneless)

In terms of Cantonese porridge and poached chicken, I will still prefer my childhood favourite Soo Kee Cooked Food. The variety of food that Fei Lou Porridge offer is attractive and over the weekends, you can see tables and tables of their food ordered by their die-hard fans.
