HaveFun Karaoke & Outdoor Beer Garden (SAFRA Yishun)

HaveFun is a family-friendly multi-entertainment venue managed by Goodwill Entertainment, with eight outlets and others food and beverage brands. We visited HaveFun in Yishun Safra was had a great evening with their beer garden, the live band as well as food & beverages.

HaveFun

Let's sit back, let loose and relax here!

With Green Lighting

With Red Lighting

We visited the place on a Friday evening and were entertained by the powerful vocal from the live band.

Stage for the Live Band

The band was entertaining for our evenings while we chilled and relax over there.
Live Band is here!

Here's some instagram worthy corner with a sakura tree, London telephone booth and a post box with neon lighting.

Corner for photography

We can enjoy playing digital darts at the corner too. They do also have an outdoor beer garden that is suitable for relaxing

Digital Darts

We were welcomed with a tower of beer to "save" our night. We seated at a distance away from the Live Band to enjoy our chats and at the same time humming/singing after the familiar music from the live band.

Beer Tower

Let's kick start with the Mookata Set! The servers were also prompt in refilling the soup base for our set.

Time for Mookata

One can self-help with the dipping sauce over at the sauce counter.

Sauce for Food

Grilled Fish lovers will want to savour this dish, especially with its attractive pricing of $24.90 for an entire fish. The fish was placed in a metal hotplate over the portable gas stove. It was loaded with greens, and pickled cabbages and topped with roasted peanuts. It tasted appetising! There are other flavours on the menu and they are Mala, Black Bean or even Curry Fish!

Pickled Cabbage Grilled Fish 酸菜烤鱼 - $24.90 (Whole Fish)

The tastily marinated chicken chop was well grilled and served with molten egg. Noodles tasted good in the sauce tossed in. The texture was good in medium hardness.

Pan Fried Chicken Ramen 香煎鸡扒干捞拉面 - $8.90

The grilled fresh chicken chop was fresh and tender topped with delicious mushroom sauce with mushroom slices. The set comes along with seasonal vegetables and fries.

Classic Chicken Chop 经典香烤鸡扒 - $10.90

Beer Battered Fish Fillet sounds amazing and is a popular choice among diners. The dish was served on a wooden board and paired with fries and tartar sauce.

Fish & Chips 炸鱼排薯条 - $11.90

A typical dish that you will usually find in Cze Char Stall and also a popular choice in HaveFun. The pork was fried and coated in its savoury sauce with bell pepper, cucumber, onion and pineapple. The texture was almost there and could be better with a little bit more crisp.

Sweet & Sour Pork Rice 咕咾肉饭 - $8.90

Braised Pork Rice is a staple dish from Taiwanese Cuisine. The cut and texture of the belly meat was well great but lacking the savoury braised taste that ought to be present in every bowl of Braised Pork Rice. Nonetheless, its still one of their popular choices on the menu.

Braised Pork with Rice - $8.90

A fusion bowl of Japanese and Thai Food. The ramen was toss with tasty sauce and paired with moo ping, molten egg and seaweed yuba.

Pak Din Kopitiam

While scouting around early in the morning for a breakfast place, we found this modern and airconditioned Kopitiam serving local food.

Pak Din Kopitiam

Food and snacks were laid on the table. Patrons can pick the items they want and paid at the counter end of the meal.

Kueh & Finger Food

The food on table was limited, however, they do have cooked food and can be ordered via their digital menu.

Food at Side Table

While I'm not very sure what is this but it was filled with mashed potatoes and wrapped with crispy Tofu skin, deep fried. They tasted great with Kecap Manis.

Snacks

We picked up chicken wings from the side table to add on to our plain packet of Bee Hoon and Nasi Lemak. It was deep fried and crispy, tasty.

Chicken Wings

Our simple breakfast is best explained with a packet of fried bee hoon topped with a generous amount of chilli sauce and half a boiled egg, wrapped in a package with banana leaf.

Fried Bee Hoon

This is the classic nasi lemak with fragrant coconut rice and a piece of Telur (Egg) with chilli paste under it. The simple meal looked traditional with Banana Leaf. Roasted peanuts and ikans billis were part of this too.

Nasi Lemak Telur

We were told to order the drinks from their digital menu. While expecting the drinks to be very sweet, the Teh Tarik still tasted not bad but as usual, they were very generous in the condensed milk given in Pakdin Kopi Ais.

Pakdin Kopi Ais, Teh Tarik - RM5.90, 3.90

The breakfast was decent and if you are looking for an air-conditioned breakfast place with local food, this place will suit you.

Spice Grill

While searching around for dinner, we decided to have some Indian food for the night. Spice Grill is a fine dining restaurant that serves fusion and authentic Indian Cuisine.

Spice Grill

The internal furnishings and decorations were pretty with lightings and serve as some Instagram-worthy corners.

Dining Environment

For the outdoor seating where drinks were prepared at this bar counter island.

Island

There was no reservations made in advance and thus we were ushered to a high table corner at the non airconditioned seating.

Non Airconditioned Area

Here's my favorite choice of beverage, Lassi, while waiting for the food to be served.

Mango Lassi

The platter makes up of New Zealand Lamb Rack Tandoor, Tandoori Fish, Murgh Sahajani Reehmi Kebab and Ajwani Prawn Tikka.

NZ Lamb Rack Tandoor - RM 160
The Frenched cut lamb rack was marinated with Indian spices and cooked to perfection in Tandoor

Tandoori Fish - RM 33
The Tandoori Fish is marinated with a special yoghurt  and cooked over tandoor.

Murgh Sahajani Reehmi Kebab - RM 30
Morsels of Chicken were marinated with yoghurt, cashew nut paste and cheese. These chicken were cooked to perfection in the Tandoor.

Ajwani Prawn Tikka - RM45
Spicy fusion of fish with kashmiri chilli and whole carom seeds. It is also cooked in Tandoor and great as an appetizer.

There were mint sauce for the lamb, lime and a mixture of onions and salad. There was also some potato balls as appetizer on the platter. As an overall, we find that the marinate on the meat was on a saltier side.

Indian Platter

We ordered the Western Platter and had the following:

Wagyu Rib Eye RM 445.50
That was the best meat on the platter despite that the doneness didn't match my expectation. Pairing it with the brown sauce that was used on the mashed potato makes it taste better. Or if you want to bring out more of its natural taste, a dab on the salt by the side will be good enough.

Prawn - RM 337.50
The 3 prawns were huge and occupied more than a quarter space on the serving board. They were grilled and topped with some spice and seasonings. Meat was plump and juicy. However, they were not entirely cooked and some parts were still quite raw.

Oh my Cod - RM 140
Cod was soft and fried to golden in its lightly battered skin. It was soft and disintegrate easily,

Baked Chicken Breast - RM 45
Soft and tender breast meat with sweet marinates.

French Lamb of Rack - RM 160
These French cut Lamb was similar to what we had on from the tandoor platter with a different seasonings. It was sweetened by its marinate.

Beside the mashed potato, there were some mixed vegetables as, grilled lemon and garlic on the platter.

Western Platter

While I thought this resembles our Chinese Xiao Long Pau, I took a closer look and have a taste. Its a dollop of mashed potato.

Mashed Potato

Boneless pieces of Tandoori chicken in Butter and Tomato Sauce. It tasted too sweet and cloying with thick cream. Nonetheless, pairing the butter chicken masala with the Naan kind of balance out.

Butter Chicken Masala - RM 28

The Garlic Naan had a stronger flavor as compared to Cheese. It was garlicky while the Cheese Naan tasted as though its plain.

Garlic & Cheese Naan - RM 7, 9

The total bill shocked us to about RM1800 for 4 pax. Nonetheless, it was a good evening relaxing and chatting over some fine dining Indian Food.

Butterworthboy Prawn Noodles 北海仔虾面

While we were driven away by so many good food and café in Johor Bahru for breakfast, we have left this place out most of the time. With its reputable ratings in social media and good comments, there is no reason why we should leave Buttterworthboy Prawn Noodles Restoran out.

Butterworthboy Prawn Noodles 北海仔虾面

While we were here for prawn noodles, they are also offering prawn noodles mixed with braised sauce as well as braised noodles.

Menu

Their 3-in-1 Ice coffee tasted good so as the Homemade soya milk as there were traces of fragrant Gula Melaka within.

3 in 1 Coffee and Soya Milk - RM 2.30 , 3.90 each

Breakfast time! Most of us ordered the braised sauce with prawn soup as this combination is quite unique to us, Singaporeans. For prawns noodles, there are two options, dry or soup. For the bowls of noodles, patrons can choose the type of noodles like Yellow Noodle, Bee Hoon, Kway Teow or combination of 2 noodles among the three. They are also offering Cintan Noodle if you prefer.

Breakfast Time

We were offered chili for our bowl of noodle but we opted to have them separated from the main bowl. Luckily we did not place additional chili in the bowl as the prawn broth itself was already spicy. The bowl was topped with fried shallots and ingredients like pork, fishcake and half a hard boiled egg and prawns were included.

Prawn Noodle Soup with Cintan Noodle - RM 9 (Small)

The mixture of both braised sauce and Soup feels like an option of having best of both worlds. The sweet prawn broth with savoury braised sauce was good.

Prawn & Braised Soup with Yellow Noodle Kway Teow - RM 9 (Small)

While we were so pampered back home that prawns were mostly served in peeled or half peeled form, over here, they served the prawns without de-shelling.

Prawn & Braised Soup with Yellow Noodle Bee Hoon - $9 (Small)

Prawn & Braised Soup with Kway Teow - $9 (Small)

Of all the Prawn Noodle standards in JB that we had eaten so far, Butterworthboy Prawn Noodles is considered one of the better ones.

Kumo Japanese Dining

We didn't make a booking and walk-in as customers on a weekday evening to Kumo and was lucky to secure a seat at the bar counters table. Kumo is known for its service as well as standard of food.

Kumo

We chose Buffet dinner over alarte and ordered our first bowl of food, Edamame as appetizer.

Edamame

Next up, we had chawanmushi, Tofu with goma sauce and cha soba.

Chawan Mushi, Tofu Goma Sauce, Cha Soba

Mixing in the vinaigrette with salmon belly was a good choice. Love the sour flavored sauce that brings out the freshness of the salmon.

Salmon Belly

If you are a sashimi lover, you can order their Sashimi Moriawase which has everything from their menu, Hamichi, Mekajiki (Sword Fish), Ika (Squid), Tako (Octopus) and Tai (Sea Beam). They were all very fresh and worthy.

Assorted Raw Fish (Sashimi Moriawase)

Crispy Soft shell Crab rolling up with seaweed and rice. There are a few other selections of Temaki like Ebi, Unagi, California and Sake Kawa on the menu too.

Soft Shell Crab Temaki

Under the Agemono and Ippinmono menu, we had fried Shitake, Agedashi Tofu, Tori Kara Age and Takoyaki.

Tempura Agemono / Ippinmono

Let's dip the tempura into the sauce!

If you enjoy bacon, you may want to try out their Cocktail Bacon Maki as well as Kani Bacon Maki,

Cocktail Bacon Maki & Kani Bacon Maki

The salmon Miso Soup was not from their menu and the soup was tasty with sweetness from the vegetables and fish.

Scallops comes in 2 pieces per stick and was sweetly coated in the teriyaki sauce like wise for the Yakitori. The chicken meat was tender and well-glazed.

Baby Scallop Teriyaki & Yakitori

Yaki Soba was tasty with carrots, and mushrooms, topped with shredded seaweed and spring onions.

Yaki Soba

Ever wonder about sushi cake? Since we are there for an occasion, this sushi cake was made. It was my first experience with candle and sushi decorated with some sweet black sauce, salt, slices of cucumber and lemon. Unique!

Sushi Cake

I actually resisted having a buffet but after seeing the serving of Kumo Japanese Dining, I'm pleased. Every portion was manageable and food quality is of standard.
