Lagoon Leng Kee Beef Kway Teow

During my usual trips to East Coast Lagoon Food Village, I tend to stick to my go-to favorites like BBQ seafood, fried oysters, duck rice, satay, or wanton mee. However, on this visit, a friend suggested I try something different. Following their recommendation, I ventured to another corner of the hawker center and ordered from Lagoon Leng Kee Beef Kway Teow. There wasn’t much of a queue when I placed my order, but it quickly grew afterward. The service was friendly, making the experience even better.

The flavor profile leans towards the lighter side—subtle yet satisfying to my taste. It's refreshing to find the traditional type of Kway Teow still being served, as not many places offer it nowadays. I chose all meat instead of a mix, and the chili complemented the dish nicely without being overpowering. Overall, this bowl of Beef Kway Teow soup delivered a comforting, homely feel, leaving my tummy happily content.

Jejugot Seogwipo Haemul Ramyeon 제주곶 서귀포 해물라면

We came across this ramyeon spot after visiting Jeongbang Waterfalls. As we walked by and glanced at the menu, we hesitated on whether to give it a try. But the local lady outside the shop, who was giving a thumbs-up to the food, encouraged us to go for it.

Jeju Cape

The menu was fairly limited, but despite that, the place seemed quite popular, with patrons quickly filling up the seats after we arrived. We decided to order two bowls of Ramyeon.

Menu

That Jeju Cape Octopus Ramyeon looks interesting in the menu! The combination of fresh seafood like octopus, conch, mussels, clams, and abalone added a lovely depth of flavor to the broth. It’s nice, light and refreshing, balancing that rich seafood blend with a lighter broth have made it quite satisfying without being too heavy.

Jeju Cape Octopus Ramen - 15,900

That cream-based seafood Ramyeon was delightful! It was not overly rich, striking that perfect balance to keep it enjoyable. With squid, mussels, and shrimp, brimming with fresh, oceanic flavors. It was the kind of dish that leaves us wanting more with every bite!

Jeju Cape seafood Cream Ramen - 12,900

Jeju’s seafood really seems to live up to its reputation! There’s nothing like the pure flavor and texture of fresh, local seafood. Having clams and abalone straight from Jeju must have made that bowl of ramen truly memorable!

Abalone

Despite the fact that the open kitchen team appeared young, I must say the food they served was quite tasty and very welcoming to us. I would definitely recommend anyone visiting Jeongbang Waterfalls to stop by and try the ramyeon there.

Shiok Hokkien Mee

Shiok Hokkien Mee is in the same coffee shop as Noona Korean Kitchen. It's all about the love of Hokkien Mee! I noticed fans of Shiok’s Hokkien Mee eagerly joining the queue, and I soon realized that enjoying a plate here requires a one-hour wait.

Their first branch, along with the head chef, is located at Golden Mile Food Centre, while this new location in Bedok marks their second branch.

Shiok Hokkien Mee

I was pleasantly surprised by the small portion, which was incredibly filling. Compared to other Hokkien Mee stalls, Shiok’s small portion feels more like a medium—it’s both generous and satisfying!

So Shiok

The length of the queue speaks volumes about its popularity. This plate of Hokkien Mee comes loaded with fresh prawns, tender squid, and pork belly, along with a perfect mix of yellow noodles and bee hoon, all richly infused with flavorful broth. We loved how the noodles absorbed the broth beautifully—unlike other Hokkien Mee stalls, it wasn’t overly wet but had just the right amount of tasty, savoury broth. The dish's unmistakable wok hei added an extra depth, making it an absolutely wonderful plate of Hokkien Mee.

So Good

Adding to the experience, they sprinkled crispy pork lard over the dish, enhancing both the flavor and texture. It was the perfect finishing touch!

Although the location is quite a distance for me, there's no doubt that this plate of Hokkien Mee is worth the journey.

Citizen's Noodles 시민국수

Citizen Noodles is located opposite our hotel, Hotel Golden Daisy Seogwipo Ocean. We reached our accommodation quite late and were weary after a long day, so we decided not to go too far and settled down for this simple meal.

Menu on the Wall

That sounds like a perfect way to recharge after a challenging ride. Nothing beats a comforting bowl of noodle soup when we were looking to recover and refuel. The warmth of the broth and the simplicity of noodles, pork, and vegetables really do restore energy, especially when we were already worn out from a full day of climbs.

Noodle soup

Perfect for reloading carbs! Those long strands of noodles were what we needed to refuel after a taxing ride. Noodle soup always seems to hit the spot, especially when in need of something warm, filling, and packed with energy for the next leg of your journey.

Noodles

Even these simple slices of pork made it taste so delicious.

Pork

It seems like a basic protocol at Korean restaurants to serve sides like this before the main meal. I found it a bit spicy, though.

Sdies

The cold noodles were quite interesting! They came topped with seaweed, shredded egg, cucumber, various vegetables, and soft-boiled egg.

We enjoyed our generous serving of noodles and then headed back to our accommodation to get ready for the next day.

Sanbangsan IC 산방산나들목

By midday, we were already craving a seafood lunch. We passed by several Korean eateries before deciding to stop here. As usual, we faced a bit of a language barrier, but that was quickly resolved when a Mandarin-speaking server came over to assist us.

Sanbangsan IC

We ordered the grilled fish & braised fish set for 2 which cost us 7000₩. The set enticed us with abalone, prawns and Banchan dishes.

While everyone has been raving about the abalone in Jeju, it was finally my turn to try it!

Abalone in Shell

Lo and behold, the texture of the abalone was exactly as described—tender and perfectly enjoyable.

Abalone

Banchan dishes were refillable like other Korean eating places.

Set Meal Inclusive

The long fish, which looks like an eel but is actually called cutlassfish, was an interesting dish to try. Although it had quite a lot of bones, the tender and flavorful meat made it worthwhile. The grilling method was spot-on, keeping the fish moist without being too dry.

The server was friendly and helped us get started by cutting along the right line for easier fish consumption.

Alongside a bowl of nutritious rice grains and hot braised cutlassfish, the meal was truly satisfying.

Cafe Day & Day 카페 데이앤데이

Traveling along the scenic coastal roads was an absolute delight. We soon settled down at Café Day & Day to enjoy breakfast before continuing our tour, soaking in the serene views along the way.

Cafe Day & Day

In the previous café, my cup of green tea latte was adorned with some café art, but that wasn’t the case here. Nonetheless, we still appreciated the aesthetically pleasing presentation on the wooden tray, which added a nice touch to the experience.

Green Tea Latte and Bread

We grabbed some cute buns from the chiller and were surprised to find they were somewhat frozen. Since we weren’t familiar with the language, we guessed that the thick filling might be butter. However, as we bit into them, we realized it was egg mayo, hardened like ice!

Our total damage is 21,000₩. After having our satisfying meal, we continued our coastal rides and encountered dolphins along the way!

Witch Shop (Manyeo Sanghwe)

When we arrived late at our accommodation, we found that meal options were limited, as there weren't many places to eat nearby. We used a translation app to check with the reception and learned that only one eatery was open, conveniently located in the backyard.

The Yard

Even though we were exhausted, we dragged ourselves out right after checking in and made the trek to the restaurant for a meal.

Garden

The dining environment felt like a charming garden setting. Still, when we translated the business name through Google, it amusingly came up as "witch shop," which added a quirky twist to the experience!

Dining Area

This type of dining experience felt special to me, with its unique vibe that truly set it apart. The atmosphere was unlike any other, making it a memorable meal.

The Area

We were initially given a Korean menu, but luckily, they had an English version available upon request. As is common in Korea, we were advised to order dishes based on the number of people in our group. The menu was quite limited, so we made our decision quickly.

Menu on Board in English

We ordered the black pork for two, accompanied by rice and a hearty kimchi stew. The combination was satisfying and flavorful, making for a comforting meal.

Black Pork (500g) - 60,000 ₩

The meal also included pumpkin slices and mushrooms, adding to the variety. The service was friendly and approachable, and although there was a language barrier, using our mobile phone as a translator really helped bridge the communication gap.

Barbecuing in Progress

The meat was delicious, and heating the dipping sauce is a common practice here. We wrapped the juicy cuts of black pork in vegetables, dipped them in the warm sauce, and popped them into our mouths for flavor.

Wrap

The kimchi soup was a comforting stomach warmer, filled with tofu and a generous amount of kimchi. It paired perfectly with our barbecued items, adding a nice balance to the meal.

Kimchi Stew - 9000₩

Overall, the experience was great. The outdoor area, while quite remote and dark, still felt safe. However, I do think it would be more enjoyable and comforting to have some company when dining there.
