Witch Shop (Manyeo Sanghwe)

When we arrived late at our accommodation, we found that meal options were limited, as there weren't many places to eat nearby. We used a translation app to check with the reception and learned that only one eatery was open, conveniently located in the backyard.

The Yard

Even though we were exhausted, we dragged ourselves out right after checking in and made the trek to the restaurant for a meal.

Garden

The dining environment felt like a charming garden setting. Still, when we translated the business name through Google, it amusingly came up as "witch shop," which added a quirky twist to the experience!

Dining Area

This type of dining experience felt special to me, with its unique vibe that truly set it apart. The atmosphere was unlike any other, making it a memorable meal.

The Area

We were initially given a Korean menu, but luckily, they had an English version available upon request. As is common in Korea, we were advised to order dishes based on the number of people in our group. The menu was quite limited, so we made our decision quickly.

Menu on Board in English

We ordered the black pork for two, accompanied by rice and a hearty kimchi stew. The combination was satisfying and flavorful, making for a comforting meal.

The meal also included pumpkin slices and mushrooms, adding to the variety. The service was friendly and approachable, and although there was a language barrier, using our mobile phone as a translator really helped bridge the communication gap.

Barbecuing in Progress

The meat was delicious, and heating the dipping sauce is a common practice here. We wrapped the juicy cuts of black pork in vegetables, dipped them in the warm sauce, and popped them into our mouths for flavor.

Wrap

The kimchi soup was a comforting stomach warmer, filled with tofu and a generous amount of kimchi. It paired perfectly with our barbecued items, adding a nice balance to the meal.

Overall, the experience was great. The outdoor area, while quite remote and dark, still felt safe. However, I do think it would be more enjoyable and comforting to have some company when dining there.
