Hamidah's Kitchen @ Kaff Kafe

Heading down to Hamidah's Kitchen at Kaff Kafe in Simpang Bedok only to realise that their Briyani menu was not available in the evening. We were disappointed and decided to go for the alternative.

Hamidah's Kitchen runs a BBQ Menu starting from 5pm to 11pm.

Hamidah's Kitchen @ Kaff Kafe

We were excited about the 10 pieces of Tahu Bagedil and were surprised to see the size of each piece.

Tahu Bagedil - $12

Its a combination of both Toufu and Bagedil fillings in the middle while the exterior was crispy and overall a yummy one.

Cross section of Tahu Bagedil

While at the self service station, we grab our own sauces as well as butter.

Sauces

Love that the Drinks were not too sweet. We had the usual beverage Teh O Limau Ice with Singapore Island that tasted like fruit punch.

Teh O Limau & Singapore Island - $2 & $3.50

For the Steamboat, we chose Platter A for 2 pax. It comprised of:
  • Garlic Chicken,
  • Teriyaki Chicken,
  • Black Pepper Beef,
  • Teriyaki Beef,
  • Korean sliced fish,
  • prawn, squid ring,
  • mussel,
  • quail egg,
  • hotdog,
  • crabstick,
  • chikuwa,
  • fishball,
  • enoki mushroom,
  • beancurd skin,
  • kang kong.

Ingredients for Platter A

We ordered some additional items like Premium Smoke Duck, scallops, instant noodles, cheese tofu, cheese sausage, cheese dip, and chicken cheese ball.

Additional Items we ordered

For the Steamboat BBQ, we chose the Spicy Tom Yum Soup base over chicken soup. Its spiciness level was alright and tasted very appetizing with the sour taste.

Spicy Tom Yum

The BBQ Hot plate is divided into 3 portions. We placed seafood on one part of the hotplate.

BBQ

For another part of the BBQ Hotplate, we placed most of the meat there.

Meat on BBQ

In the other part, we grill the meat and cheese dip there.

Charcoal Claypot Crab

Charcoal Claypot Prawns and Lala are popping up in industrial estates everywhere and now Singapore has its first Charcoal Claypot Crab.

The people behind this Charcoal Claypot Crab are the same people from Woodlands Claypot Prawn.

Charcoal Claypot Crab

The ordering system is similar to Woodlands Claypot Prawn: Just take the Ordering Card indicate your preference of food and hand it over to the counter.

Let's enjoy the charcoal claypot crab with seafood, meat, vegetable, beancurd, and noodle/rice.

Page 1 of The Menu

Page 2 of The Menu

The Butter Milk Chicken Rice with Egg is flavourful with fried tender chicken pieces coated in a creamy and buttery sauce. It was served with a perfectly cooked egg with a runny yolk that mingled with the buttermilk sauce, adding an extra layer of richness and decadence. This combination is a satisfying and comforting meal with a delightful balance of flavours and textures.

Butter Milk Chicken Rice with Egg - $6.80

Here's our pick for the Crab Charcoal Claypot. What do you usually have?

Our Ingredients

The broth was milky by default and was made up of vegetables. It was not as umami as I had thought.

Charcoal Claypot Crab

The crab itself was of smaller size and tasted ordinary.

Crab

However, I wish that the meat was sweeter and more succulent.

Crab Claw

Take a look at our bubbling hot pot with Crab. We had shitake Mushrooms, Hokkaido Scallops mocked abalone, you mai cai etc.

Our Claypot with Crab

Besides the Crab Charcoal Claypot, I'm glad that they have speciality items on the menu like the Crab Bee Hoon as well as the Creamy Butter Chicken Rice.

The coffee shop is about 12 12-minute walk from the Ubi MRT Station and might be quite inconvenient for those who are not driving.

Ubi Claypot Lala (Woodlands)

Congrats Ubi Claypot Lala on their Second outlet located in Woodlands Industrial. It will be good especially for those who are residing in other side of Singapore as we do not need to travel all the way to east.

UBI Claypot Lala

While their self-serve items for the Claypot Lala were in the chiller, every item was charged based on the colour of the plates.

Charges List

They are known for the first charcoal lala claypot in Singapore. The small and big pot soup base is available for Claypot Lala. However, if you prefer the Claypot Prawn, they only have one size.

Price List for their Claypot

Besides Lala, they offer individual portions of Claypot dishes on their lunch menu.

Lunch Menu

Let's take a sneak peek of the preparation of our order in the kitchen.

Cooking the Lala Bee Hoon

Here's our portion of Lala claypot and our favourite items like sliced fish, prawn paste, abalone, broccoli, Fortune Money Bag etc

Our Charcoal Claypot Feast

As usual, we took out the cooked lala and prevent it from further boiling so that we can get to enjoy the textural bite.

Lala

The normal size Lala was yummy, of the right textural bite and not too rubbery. The little spice and ginger elevates its taste.

Lala

Besides enjoying the Lala Hotpot, we had a separate order of Tiger Prawns Bee Hoon. It was served in an individual bowl of claypot with vegetables, egg tofu, vegetables and 3 tiger prawns in its milky & aromatic broth.

Tiger Prawns Bee Hoon - $9.80

If you are looking for Claypot Lala, you might want to consider enjoying your Ubi Claypot Lala in Woodlands.

Yamada Beancurd

We chanced by Yamada Beancurd as it surprised us after our dinner at Pelangi. Despite the rain, this long snakey queue was out in the carpark queuing for something from the lorry hawker.

While we were queuing in the rain without an umbrella, the friendly assistant came over and asked if we needed an umbrella and we borrowed it to shelter ourselves from the rain.

Yamada Beancurd

Work delegations were very well orientated with 1 taking orders, 1 taking care of the beancurd portion, 1 adding toppings to the orders etc.

For beancurds, it was scooped up carefully by the man at the stall into a plastic bowl.

Beancurd Original

The guy topping up the order

I have been missing my childhood favourite Pandan Beancurd in Singapore's Hawker and I'm so excited to have a bowl of it.

Scooping up the pandan flavour

The bowl of Beancurd was wobbly and packed with pandan fragrance. The cold and wet weather makes consuming this bowl of beancurd so stomach comforting. Even though we were kind of full after dinner, we quickly emptied this bowl.

Pandan Beancurd - RM 3.50

If I happen to be in Taman Pelangi area in the eveings and get to see them, i dont mind having beancurd from them again.
