Pae Tiang Fish Ball Noodle

Pae Tiang Fish Ball Noodle is a stone's throw away from my accommodation and I decided to try it for my breakfast. It is easily located as it is just beside the roadside.

Pae Tiang Fish Ball Noodle

The place is spacious with tables placed wide apart from each other. The guys who are managing the eatery were friendly.

The Dining Area

Even before I could see the menu pasted on the wall, I managed to order the basic bowl of Fish Ball Noodles with some hand gestures.

Menu

The noodle soup was sweet and tasty with assorted kinds of fish balls. The bite of the fish and meat balls was satisfying.

Fish Ball Noodle - 55 Baht

However, if I were to compare their Noodles to our "Bee Tai Bak", the texture was not as smooth as ours. Nonetheless, this is the simplest kind of noodles that warmed my tummy.

What is this?

Moreover, the friendly gestures and smiles from the Fish Ball Noodle workers made my day too.

Oon Kitchen

Oon Kitchen is best known for their Muslim Breakfast selling Prata as well as their BBQ, and live band in the evening.

While their Western Food, Roti Prata and BBQ are not available during day time, we only have rice and noodles on the menu for our lunch hours.

Let's start with the basic. Even the plain Bee Hoon Goreng smelled good in the simplest ingredients.

Bee Hoon Goreng - RM 8

Likewise, a similar style of the Bee Hoon Goreng but replacing the Bee Hoon with Fried Rice.

Nasi Goreng - RM 8

Oon Kitchen also offers Nasi Goreng with Ayam Sambal if you are looking for something spicy.

Nasi Goreng Ayam Sambal - RM 10

The Kuey Tiaw Goreng smelled good and looked moist.

Kuey Tiaw Goreng - RM 8

The curiosity in me made me buy this as the dish was given an interesting name "kungfoo". The dish was basically our Kway Tiaw seafood from a typical Cze Char Stall topped with a handful of mixed vegetables and soaking in the pool of sweet savoury gravy.

Kungfoo Seafood Kuey Tiaw - RM 12

In fact, Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng was the dish that caught my eye on most of the tables. The fried chicken was aromatic.

The meal came with a bowl of soup, raw vegetables and fried Tempeh.

Raw Vegetables

If you prefer the fish version instead of Fried Chicken, you may want to have this.

Are you looking for fried rice and chicken with onions in sauce? You may want to try out their Nasi Goreng Ayam Merah.

Hopefully, we could find another chance to enjoy breakfast here at Oon Kitchen.

Burapha Bird's Nest

While I was looking around for some activities the night near my accommodation, I decided to go to Burapha Bird's Nest place on foot. The branding of the bird nest sounds familiar to me as I recall that I ever visited the same in Bangkok's Chinatown.

Burapha Bird's Nest

The shop was neat and with a handful of bird nest products on display. I was the only customer in the shop that night.

Products on Display

I looked through the menu and was contemplating if to bring back some.

Menu

I decided that I should just enjoy the hot bowl of bird nest on the spot.

Menu

I decided to go for the cheapest bowl of Bird Nest on the Menu with my bowl topping up with another 50 Baht of Gingko nuts.

白丝碎燕 - 200 Baht

The bowl of bird nest comes with a glass of ice chrysanthemum tea and the sweetness level was not too sweet.

Gingko Nuts topped up - 50 Baht

While enjoying my basic bowl of bird nest half way through, I decided to order another bowl from the Menu to try out. I had the most expensive bowl on the menu, a contrary to what I had earlier on.

红丝燕一白 - 1000 Baht

The amount of bird nest per spoonful is twice as much more than the basic bowl and I was given Gingko Nut in the bowl without topping the desserts.

Gingko Nuts

One good part about Burapha Bird's Nest place is that they are never pushy about their products to tourists and I really enjoyed the peaceful time there sipping down the nourishing bird nest.

Stellar Kitchen Bar

When I heard of another eating place in Science Center other than Fountain Brewery, I was quite excited and decided to take a trip down and have a meal there.

Stellar Kitchen Bar

The environment was peaceful on a weekend. It can be a good place to rest and stay away from the crowded area in the nearby malls.

Blue Moon (Pint) - $10

The thick-cut battered and deep-fried squid rings were good for starters while waiting for the main courses to be served.

Calamari Rings - $14

As a fan of vongole, I give this pasta a thumbs up! The Linguine pasta with clams was fragrant in its garlic and buttery clam sauce. If you are a fan of Vongole, this is a definite Must Order.

Vongole - $22

The Fresh Barramundi fillet was beer-battered to perfection and the crispy batter was impressive. It was served with mixed greens and fries. Tartar Sauce was served on the serving board too.

Fish & Chips - $25

With the standard of food, I will like to be back again for other items on the menu.

Grilled Fish

Walking a few rounds in the level 5 food court of JEM, we finally decided that we should try out the Grilled Fish Stall for many diners were seen carrying the Grilled Fish around.

Grilled Fish

Out of the 6 flavours, we are skipping the spicy flavours again too. We ordered the Tea Tree Chickadees (Grilled Fish Only) for it is a Non-Spicy choice and has chicken stock with shrooms.

Menu

The stove that contains our fish looks cool. We added our meal with Instant noodles among the default sides given together with the fish. The sides are potato slices, Chinese cabbages, bean sprouts and beancurd.

Tea Tree Chickadees (Grilled Fish Only) 鸡汤茶树菇味

Diners can opt for either Limbo or Sea Bass. The grilled fish itself was rather plain and the Chicken Stock and Shrooms tasted bland. Perhaps this combination is not up to our ideal grilled fish flavour.

Grilled Fish

The fish was ordinary in taste and has a slight crispiness from the grill.

Let's Eat

It's literally "What The Fish" as we were not very satisfied with our choice of meal and was rather disappointed.

What The Fish

This makes me wonder again if ordering spicy flavours would make the fish taste better.

Xiu Ji Ikan Bilis Yong Tau Fu

The long queue along this corner of the Hawker Center always caught my attention every time as I walked passed. Out of curiosity, I checked the stall front and see that many of their die hard patrons were queuing up for bowls of freshly made Yong Tau Fu.

Xiu Ji Ikan Billis Yong Tau Fu occupied 2 stall spaces, where by 1 of the spaces is used for preparing the individual Yong Tau Fu items while the other is for customers to order.

I ordered the bare basic meal that has 4 pcs of Yong Tau Foo with Bee Hoon (Dry).

4 Pcs Yong Tau Foo with Beee Hoon - $3.50

Following the standard procedure, there are no selection of Yong Tau Fu of your choice and the 4 items in our bowls are all standard. It comprises of 1 fishball, 1 Stuffed Tau Gua, Beancurd skin and Tau pok. I found the reason of the long queue and indeed, its worth waiting for? One bite into these items and you will free the freshness of the fish paste in it. Moreover, the soup was addictive too.

Yong Tau Fu Soup

On the other side, even though it was meant to be paired with a small bowl of white Bee Hoon, the taste was surprisingly good with the fried anchovies topping up. The aromatic and crispy toppings had lifted the plain bee hoon taste.

Bee Hoon with Ikan Billis

While freshly prepared Yong Tau Fu Stalls like this are getting lesser nowadays, I would say that they are unique and definitely, I will like to be back for such simple yet stomach satisfying meal.

Angie's Oyster Bar & Grill

A unique standalone building that caught us a few years back while we were passing by the area.  The Al fresco dining area is comfortable and different. Most of all, dining in the nostalgic surrounding seems so different.

Entrance of the place

Looking out from the 2nd floor of Angie's Oyster Bar & Grill dining area, I thought the sight of  Tan Boon Liat Building was special. The building seems to be a one-stop shop for those who is getting furnitures, carpets etc.

Tan Boon Liat Building

Taking the opportunity of Happy Hour, the Jerome Miet Super Speciale was priced $3.50 instead of $9.50 per piece. The freshly shucked oysters was fleshy with marine flavour. The sweetness and Salinity together with its freshness was to died for.

Jerome Miet Speciale (No.3) - $3.50 / Piece

The Earl Grey sweet tea with fresh mint was refreshing. While the non driver get to try out the light and fragrant Brooklyn IPA during their Happy Hour.

Iced Mint Tea & Brooklyn IPA- $7

Browsing the menu through the starter's item and we decided on the Peektoe Crab Cake. We were expecting more than 1 piece of crab cake and were kind of shocked to be served 1 piece on the plate. Nonetheless, the Crab Cake was prepared uniquely.

Peekytoe Crab Cake - $28

Peekytoe Crab was known for its sweet, salty, delicate and juicy meat. No doubt the crab cake will burn a hole in our pocket. the taste was kind of worth it. Cutting it into halves, it was fully packed with Crab Meat. The dish was served with smoky remoulade, Spanish onion, granny smith apple, shaved horseradish, charred lemon and chopped citrus salad.

Inside the Crab Cake

For the Kimchi Bratwurst, we can choose between Kurobuta or Spanish Pork Chorizo and we had the Kurobuta. The combination of Kimchi with bratwurst was not to my liking. However the Surf & Turf Maine Lobster roll was prepared with Beurre noisette, citrus aioli, celery and dill and was to my liking in its soft airy Bricohe.

Surf & Turf Maine Lobster Roll + Kimchi Bratwurst on Brioche - $48

The New Zealand wild caught Hoki Fish fillet was battered with stout, served in its crisp crust which was in our favour. This dish came with sides like crushed peas and was paired with jalapeno tartare sauce.

Angie's Original Fish 'N Chips - $28

For Happy Hours, the oysters are sure of the value of money. I do not mind revisiting the place again for their freshly shucked oysters as well as other food on the menu. Given the convenience of the location and the ample car park lots, it should be good.
