Angie's Oyster Bar & Grill

A unique standalone building that caught us a few years back while we were passing by the area.  The Al fresco dining area is comfortable and different. Most of all, dining in the nostalgic surrounding seems so different.

Looking out from the 2nd floor of Angie's Oyster Bar & Grill dining area, I thought the sight of  Tan Boon Liat Building was special. The building seems to be a one-stop shop for those who is getting furnitures, carpets etc.

Taking the opportunity of Happy Hour, the Jerome Miet Super Speciale was priced $3.50 instead of $9.50 per piece. The freshly shucked oysters was fleshy with marine flavour. The sweetness and Salinity together with its freshness was to died for.

The Earl Grey sweet tea with fresh mint was refreshing. While the non driver get to try out the light and fragrant Brooklyn IPA during their Happy Hour.

Browsing the menu through the starter's item and we decided on the Peektoe Crab Cake. We were expecting more than 1 piece of crab cake and were kind of shocked to be served 1 piece on the plate. Nonetheless, the Crab Cake was prepared uniquely.

Peekytoe Crab was known for its sweet, salty, delicate and juicy meat. No doubt the crab cake will burn a hole in our pocket. the taste was kind of worth it. Cutting it into halves, it was fully packed with Crab Meat. The dish was served with smoky remoulade, Spanish onion, granny smith apple, shaved horseradish, charred lemon and chopped citrus salad.

For the Kimchi Bratwurst, we can choose between Kurobuta or Spanish Pork Chorizo and we had the Kurobuta. The combination of Kimchi with bratwurst was not to my liking. However the Surf & Turf Maine Lobster roll was prepared with Beurre noisette, citrus aioli, celery and dill and was to my liking in its soft airy Bricohe.

The New Zealand wild caught Hoki Fish fillet was battered with stout, served in its crisp crust which was in our favour. This dish came with sides like crushed peas and was paired with jalapeno tartare sauce.

For Happy Hours, the oysters are sure of the value of money. I do not mind revisiting the place again for their freshly shucked oysters as well as other food on the menu. Given the convenience of the location and the ample car park lots, it should be good.
