Enjoy Eating House and Bar

Enjoy Eating House was started in 2018 as a small eating house in Jalan Besar founded by two childhood friends, James and Joel.

Enjoy Eating House and Bar

Besides the hard copy of the menu, you can order the food via their app, by scanning the QR Code provided.

Menu

A retro interior decor is colourful with 1990s vibes. Look around in the Eating House and feel nostalgic with some of the familiar items.

Dining Environment

Their first dish impressed me. The pillowy soft Pau was served with a small plate of pulled pork with a house-smoked thick-cut kurobuta pork belly. It was served with honey mustard, homemade slaw and their house garlic chilli.

King Kong Bak Pau - $24

My King Kong Bak Pau with condiments

To be honest, I'm a fan of such a traditional dish and not many places sell this. There are 2 sizes available on their menu. The "Te Kah" which is known as Pig Trotter is exceptionally nice and on top of that, the Bee Hoon is very flavourful and soaked up with braised flavours. This secret recipe is passed down from Chef Joel's beloved Grandma.

Grandma's Te Kah Bee Hoon - $17 (Small)

The name of the dish spurs interest to curious diners like me. Its wok hei-infused and strong flavours make such a simple dish so delicious. Loves the use of garlic with fish sauce and sugar with the cabbages.

Ugly Cabbage in Fish Sauce - $16

A plate of Har Jeong Kai Wings is good for sharing but a bit too much for 2 pax after all the dishes we ordered. This all-time Zi Char Classic was packed full of fragrance in its crispy fried exteriors. The fresh mid joints were very well marinated with fermented shrimp paste.

Har Jeong Kai Wings - $16

The meal ends with this special dessert on the menu. It is an Italian twist on a classic Singaporean dessert. The Pandan Noodles decked up with fragrant gula Melaka with sweet coconut cream pudding.

Chendol Panna Cotta - $8

Enjoy Eating House and Bar is worth visit with friends or family. Most of the dishes we had were very well executed with some twist in our local dishes. Pricing maybe a little steep but for the quality, worth splurging a little and pampering ourselves at times.

Ishiro (One Holland Village)

Congratulations on Ishiro opening another Outlet in One Holland Village (OHV). OHV is a pet friendly mall with pet lifts and water cooler. I love the concept of Ishiro, selling Japanese Rice Bowls in fast food style, serving quick and hearty donburi with chicken, beef, pork and unagi.

Ishiro in One Holland Village

The interior was nicely furnished and seats were rather limited.

Interior

Watashi O Tabete

With the shortages of manpower in the F&B Industries, these self-service ordering machines had been seen as very helpful during ordering.

Unagi Bowl Set comes with a main, choice of a side and a drink. The tender piece of grilled eel onsen egg, chilli powder, miso soup, seaweed, tempura bits and pickle.

Unagi Bowl Set - $17.90

We ordered the Tempura Prawn as sides. 2 pieces were provided, crispy on the outside without being too greasy.

Tempura Prawn

Love the smokiness and sweetness from the soft pieces of unagi, they were simply addictive.

Unagi

The Ishiro Charshu Bowl Set comes with a main, a side, soup and a drink. The torched Slices of tender pork belly carried smoky flavours and they were not too fatty, with a good ratio of meat to fats. The bowl of rice comes with onsen egg, chilli powder, pickle, seaweed, and tempura bits.

Ishiro Charshu Bowl Set - $16.90

Besides ordering the main, we topped up our meal with Crab Cream Croquette, They tasted so yummy. Also we had the Sukiyaki Beef in topping up our mains. The sweet and thin slices of beef were delicious too.

Tuck Kee Son 德记仔 (Yishun) [Media Invite]

Tuck Kee Son has recently moved their stall from Jalan Bukit Merah to Yishun Get Together Coffeeshop 欢聚一堂. They are also expanding their regular noodles selections to Seafood, Meat and veggie delights!

Stall of Tuck Kee Son

Cze Char

"Yu Kong Hor" or better known as Moonlight Hor Fun is one of the recommended dishes from Tuck Kee Son. It got its name partly due to the raw egg that was cracked over the hot noodles, creating a silky and rich texture when mixed. The plate of Hor Fun was sweet and savoury packed with smoky tastes with hints of “Wok Hei”. Pork slices, powdered intestines and vegetables together with pork lard cubes enhanced the taste of the bland noodles taste.

On a side note, their Hor Fun is imported from Ipoh has they are more silky in texture and contain more rice flour.

Yu Kong Hor 月光河 - $6.30 / $9.30

The pal who had eaten Tuck Kee Son's Hokkien Fried Bee Hoon in their Bukit Merah Outlet was singing praises about this. The crackling fresh lard was hard to skip. The plate was well fried with some parts turned crispy for the Bee Hoon, cradling the aromatic "Wok Hei" flavours. Vegetables, prawns and lean meat were part of the dish's ingredients.

Hokkien Fried Bee Hoon 福建炒米粉 - $5.80 / $8.80

The dish “Dai Loke Mee” is a popular Malaysian dish. The thick noodles were cooked in sweet dark soy sauce coupled with vegetables, pork lards, and pork slices.

Dai Loke Mee 大碌面 - $5.80 / $8.80

Steamed Fish tasted best and fresh in the tangy sweet sourish Assam style.

Ipoh Steamed Tilapia 怡宝蒸山水金凤

A less often dish that we will see from the Cze Char Menu but Tuck Kee Son has it all! This light and protein-packed meal tasted best with egg yolk and vinegar.

Crab Meat Stir Fry Egg Whites 蟹肉赛螃蟹 - $20 / 30 /40

These prawn balls were coated in its crispy batter and deep fried. Combining these succulent prawn balls with the strong pungent & spicy Japanese Dressing creates a unique flavour to the dish. Black Sesame was sprinkled on the prawns too, giving it a better presentation.

Wasabi Shrimp Ball 芥末虾球 - $20/30/40

The Big Prawn Hor Fun had kind of impressed me. The generous servings of large battered prawns and the savoury and luscious gravy of the yummy Hor Fun were the best combination. What an indulgence I thought with fragrant pork lards and egg yolk too.

Big Prawn Hor Fun 大虾河粉皇 - $9.80 / $13.80

The chicken was deep-fried and well-coated in its sauce.

General Tso's Chicken 左宗棠鸡 - $16 / 25 / 32

Sweet Savoury Sauce uniformly coated the pork ribs and the dish was topped with sesame seeds.

Dang Gui "Zhe Jiang" Pork Ribs 当归浙江排骨 - $16 / 25 /32

The Golden Pumpkin sauce was savoury and creamy topping to the fresh crustaceans. They added a tad of saltiness to the natural sweetness of the crab meat.

Alaska King Crab Pumpkin Superior Stock 阿拉斯加帝王蟹配金瓜上汤 - $48

The chilli sauce with Alaksa Crab was "da bomb". The Sauce strikes a very good balance between savoury sweetness and spiciness. The smooth and delicious sauce was to died for. Comparing the Pumpkin Sauce and this. I would definitely prefer this.

Alaska King Crab Chili Sauce 阿拉斯加帝王蟹配辣椒酱 - $48

Tuck Kee Son offers a good spread of Cze Char, different from the mainstream of our local coffeeshop Cze Char as they offer interesting Malaysian dishes.

Eat 3 Bowls 呷三碗 unveils New Store at Compass One since 2nd October 2023 and just like any of its branches, its swarmed with crowd and queue especially during the peak hours.

Eat 3 Bowls at Compass One

Enjoy these 2 beloved snacks which is popular in the Taiwan Night Market. The chicken chunks were lightly battered and deep fried to its crispy exterior. The use of basil leaves and chilli powder had lifted its taste.

Salted Crispy Chicken - $7.20

Similarly the mushrooms were lightly battered and fried to an airy exterior consistency, the blend of spices gave the side dish a mild kick

Crispy Fried Mushroom - $6.20

My favourite snack from the Taiwan Night Market. They have a distinct flavour apart from our local off the shleves supermarket Taiwan Sausages.

Grilled Taiwanese Sausage - $4.50

Yummy

Well braised cabbage, I would say a simple bowl of comfort food with mushrooms and cabbages, immpecably pairing with other dishes.

Braised Cabbage - $4.50

Indulge in their top favourite in the menu, the extraordinary Eat 3 Bowls Series featuring the 3 popular quintessential of Taiwanese Classic: The Braised Pork Rice, Oysters Intestines Mee Sua & Chicken Rice.

Eat 3 Bowls Series 呷三碗

Let's start the culinary journey with Taiwan's most iconic flavours. The braised pork is rich and succulent. The process of simmering the braised pork belly over low heat in the blend of soy sauce and spices for hours had perfect the texture, resulting to the melt in the mouth profile.

Braised Pork Rice 滷肉飯

While the bed of pearl white rice was decked with a handful of hand shredded chicken breast meat topped with shallot oil, spring onions and coriander, allowing the savoury taste.

Chicken Rice

Hand Shredded Chicken Breast

The Oyster Pig Intestine Mee Sua will be next, making up their top favourite dish. It has a gooey thick consistency with hints of bonito flavours. The texture of vermicelli noodles were soft and smooth. The bowl was filled to the brim with pork intestines, plump oysters, minced garlic and topped with fresh parsley and spring onions.

Oyster Intestines Mee Sua 蚵仔大肠面线

Warming up our stomach with another Classic Taiwanese Side from the menu. the soup had a natural sweetness from the white radish and meat. The Pork Balls were Springy and the biting texture had a vast different of our local pork balls.

White Radish Pork Ball Soup

Washing down our food with the Pure Tea Series' Assam Black Tea and QQ Passion Fruit Tea. With a choice of their sugar level, the sweetness definitely tailored to us. Assam Black Tea carried a light tea fragrance and was refreshing while the QQ Passion Fruit Tea has Jelly as well as Pearl, thus the given name of the tea.

Assam Black Tea & QQ Passion Fruit Tea - $3, $4

Prior to the visit, we have visited their other outlets where standards and quality have been observed. For their latest addition to the Eat 3 Bowls outlets in located in Compass One, I'm glad that the standard and quality of food had been very well maintained too.

For those who miss Taiwanese Food like we do, Eat 3 Bowls is one of the better eateries for such cuisine.

Tim Hortons

After the news of the famous coffee house from Canada broke out, the queue in front of Tim Hortons seems to be neverending everytime I pass by the shop since November 2023. Coffee is core to the Tim Hortons brand. Where sustainability is a concern, Tims pride themselves with coffee responsibly source and 100% premium arabica beans.

Tim Hortons

We bought the Timbits at $1.50 each. Its a signature TIm Hortons' item, bite sized donut, addictive and popular item as a snack. We had the classic glaze Timbits. It was pillowy soft and sugar coated on the exterior but wasn't overly sweet.

Timbits - $1.50

We bought the 6 pack Assorted donut with Boston Cream Donut as the repeated flavour.
  • Yuzu Lemon Cream Donut
  • Belgian Dark Chocolate Donut
  • Strawberry Belgian White Chocolate
  • Boston Cream Donut *
  • Maple Salted Caramel
To be frank, I'm not a donut lover but I'm amazed but the quality and softness from my bite, making me could not stop at the first bite.

Pack of 6 Donuts - $20

Tim Hortons in VivoCity is one of the very first joints that the brand plans to open in Singapore. Nex will be launching their 2nd outlet, followed by Suntec City and One Raffles Place in April 2024. Tim Hortons aims to have 10 to 15 outlets by end of 2024
