Supperman

Recently I got to know of Supperman via MeClub when I did a redemption for their 1 for 1 meal voucher.

We did a reservation via email as there was no one picking up the calls on their landline.

The place was easily accessible with the help of MRT. Just alight at Tanjong Pagar station and head towards Exit B and they are on the left.

Coincidentally when I visit, they were closed for private event, nevertheless, my reservation was still valid.

Supperman
Environment was dimly lit but a cozy place for gatherings with alcoholic beverages available. The staff are friendly and indicated that that they were closing for private event as it was their last day of operation in Maxwell Chambers. New location has not been firmed up.

Environment

Due to their last day of operation, the menu available was rather fixed. Each meal comes with a cup of drink and 2 sides.

Lime Juice
As there was not much selection, I had chosen the grilled Cajun Chicken with Demi Glance. Chicken was cut into smaller pieces and grilled with Sweet Brown sauce, somehow reminds me of Teriyaki sauce. Meat was juicy however I find that it was salty and not to my liking.

Grilled Cajun Chicken with Demi Glance -

Opted Medium for the wellness for the beef! I would say that it was undeniably cooked to a perfect texture with its flavour and juiciness well retained. The green onion puree gave the taste of the beef to a different dimension.

Pan-seared ribeye with green onion puree - $45
Popcorn chickens for sides? They are crispy and hot from the pan.

Hints of truffle oil used for the thick cut fries.

Fries (Comes with Main)
It's sad to hear that they were closed but on the other hand, it was both good news and bad news as they mentioned that they were be relocating. I was told to follow the updates on their Facebook page.

1 for 1 meal is definitely a steal for that their Rib Eye was tasty. There was no GST and Service Charges.

Yong Lai Fa Ji Shu Shi

I was shocked when my friend told me that our dinner will be in area of Circuit Road and we will be going to have fish meat noodle. I had never hear of it and decided to give it a try.

After glancing through rows and rows of hawker stalls, we had finally found Yong Lai Fa Ji Shu Shi.
I was expecting some long queue but fortunately there wasn't any.

Yong Lai Fa Ji Shu Shi
The soup was clear type with fresh slices of fresh included. I love its smooth and silky texture. However I find that to taste the fish soup at it best is to order without noodles in it. I had mine with Ee Mian and the taste was different from one with noodles.

Ee Mian - $3.50
I felt that they have a finer version of Ee Mian and it was rather special as I seldom find fish soup in Ee Mian that comes with an egg.

Close Shot of Ee Mian
Here's the original version without noodles added. Soup was flavourful with "dong cai" (preserved vegetables) added. Lettuce, seaweed, toufu, tomato as well as fried & sliced fish added, not forgetting sole fish was added too giving additional flavour to the soup.

Soup

The color of fried fish in particular was neither faint in color nor too soggy.  I'm glad that the trip was not wasted as they did not disappoint.

Solepomodoro

Solepomodoro was recently published in the Epicure magazine for its Pizza. I did a reservation a few days back before my actual visit and got a prompt confirmation via email.

Located diagonally opposite the Rex Threatre and accessible via MRT as little Indian Station is just a stone throw away. If you are travelling by car, parking is free after 5pm on weekdays at the open space carpark opposite.

Solepomodoro
As we walked into the restaurant, there was no customer at all and I was kind of shocked. We were then approached by the server as he pointed to the black board saying that there will be no pasta served starting from 18 June 2014.

Nevertheless we still decided to carry on on our "makan" session to try out its pizza.

Environment

Menu was presented to us in pages nailed to a wooden board.

Loaf of bread was cut into bite size cubes accompanied by chilled gazpacho sauce. It was both refreshing and cool as we enjoy these while waiting for our pizza and L’ANTIPASTO (starters).

Starters with Gazpacho Sauce

Simply love their home-made meatballs in spicy tomato sauce and garlic crouton. The meatballs was made up of beef as well as pork. Dish was not really spicy and the puree from the tomato had complemented the meatballs well.

Polpette Di carne Al Sugo - $9.90
The Capricciosa Highly advocated by the server for its amount of ingredients on the pizza. Intially we wanted to try their specialty and blue cheese was one of the ingredients. Not many of us can take the taste and smell of blue cheese, thus we had to give it a miss.

With tomato sauce, mozzarella, mushroom, roasted ham, artichoke and salami on the thin crust pizza where its edge was charred with crispiness, it was delighting to enjoy such bites. Our expectations were all met from the place of wood-fired pizza and it just never disappoint.

Capricciosa - $24.90
Unfortunately, we learnt from the server that there will be no more pasta available and they will be closing down soon. Thus I have concluded that this will be my first and last in Solepomodoro. :(

Pak Kashmiri Delight

It was quite a rare chance to have me dining in Tekka Centre as the place was those that I would not  have thought I would go. It just happened by chance that we were looking for something after meal nearby at Mackanize Road and we decided to explore some of the Indian Food in the Hawker.

As we walked along the row of Muslim stalls, Pak Kashmiri had caught hold of our attention with its spread of delights. Naan and Chapatti are their main specialties.

Pak Kashmiri Delights
Self service is adviced with the dinner crowd around especially. We had the Mutton Marsala to dip our naans. Taste was not what we had expected with the sauce slightly diluted. However the amount of mutton given was still bearable.

Mutton Marsala - $3
Naan was made by per order and we decided to choose 2 kinds to share among ourselves. We had the plain and garlic flavoured. What I like about the naan that it was served in its best at its freshest condition. As we tore them apart and dip them into the Mutton Marsala, we can feel the pain on our fingers due to the heat emitted from the naans.

Plain Naan tasted average while we had higher expectation for the garlic flavoured, however the standards and garlic fell below our expectation. There was no slightest scent of garlic even though minced pieces of garlic was spotted on it.

Plain Naan - $1 (top) & Garlic Naan - $1.50 (Bottom)

Since there were a number of stalls around, if I'm back there again, I would definitely try on other food.

Chicken Rice

The chicken rice stall is originally Melting Pot from Jurong Point Bagus Food Court but now is situated under the block 134 of Jurong Gateway room. The stall is easily recognizable as they are just right in front of the entrance in the food court which sells Halal Food.

Chicken Rice
Though the stall is manned by both chinese and malay, there is still slight difference in the wanton noodle I had ordered. Firstly to meet the Halal criteria, the Char Siew Meat of the dish was replaced by chicken. Secondly the wanton given was only the fried ones. Unlike the usual non-halal meal, we have best of both worlds, with the non fried in the soup and the fried ones on the plate or we get a choice to have it fried or non-fried. In this case, the meal was straight forward as no selection in involved.

Wanton Noodle - $3.50
The noodles were rather dry even though it had alot of black sauce at its base. Chicken Char Siew has lost it juiciness and no sweetness in the meat while the fried wanton was rather dry too.

Wanton Noodle
Besides selling noodles, they do have some sides like carrot cake, either in black or the white version. Likewise, this portion did not look appetizing to me.

Carrot Cake - $3
I guess Melting Pot is famous for its Roasted Chicken Rice. Though the above 2 did not really entice me, it will not stop me from returning to try their so called Signature Dish!

Cake Spade

Everyone knows about the brand of the handbag "Kate Spade" and there is one cake shop located in Tanjong Pagar with a similar pronunciation that goes Cake Spade. With such a close name to the branded handbag, I thought it was really up to the trend.

The shop space is rather small with not more than 5 tables in its air conditioned environment and has a squeezy walkway. However those who wish to enjoy the cake on the spot may get to choose the tables just located in front of the shop.

Cake Spade

Not only the name that is in trend, they have fortune cats toy on display over at the cashier counter.

Fortune Cats
I had chosen to take away as it was real crowded with no table available. My cakes was packed into the box by the friendly staff on duty. The box quality was good and durable.

Packaging
We were caught in a dilemma of those cake varieties available and decided we would just have 2 as we were rather full after our dinner.

The chocolate blackout was rather a classic looking one whereby it was baked with 3 layers of moist dark chocolate sponge and iced ice with rich velvety chocolate ganache. Both stick and sticky, a perfect choice for those who need some chocolate dosage!

Chocolate blackout - $5.90
What an interesting name it had. I like it best when such combination of tropical fruits comes in between layer of cream cheese. Banana, coconut and pineapple were included, simple a perfect treat for the summer.

If you ask me which do I prefer, I will vote for the hummingbird.

Humming Bird - $5.90
Here's the front view of the cake. Have it got hold of your stomach?

Bluemist

Bluemist is a cafe and bistro interestingly located under Residential Housing. It is an ideal post-work place for chill out especially when they were located in the vinicity where alot of offices are situated.

BLUEMIST Cafe Bistro
The servers were attentive and our presence was quickly identified as we were walking towards the cafe.As most of the tables were reserved for drinking with high stools and tables, we were offered some internal seating and enjoyed the air-conditioned environment.

Menu
I'm still quite amazed by how shops under the residential housing turned into a bistro and as I look onto the rack of alcoholic beverages under the bright right, it really tuned me into a right atmosphere, no longer the dull surroundings I had usually below a housing estate.

Interior Dining
Other than enjoying the air-condition, they have sports channel on display for the diners. Environment had tuned one into a layback mood with such relaxing environment.

Leading to Toilet

Having chosen the white Erdinger over the black for the light yet soothing taste of the cooling beer. It's definitely a good choice to chill out after a hard day of work. If not for the promotional US Prime Rum Steak Set, I would have this skipped.

Erdinger

Crispily toasted garlic bread is an ideal way to keep us munching and fill our stomach with at least something while waiting for the mains. With the buttery and herb fragrance, it was very good alone.

Garlic Bread
While we had minestrone soup as the soup of the day. Light and tasty, perhaps the only peeved I had was that it was a little on a peppery side. Other than that, it was absolutely alright.

Soup of the day - Minestrone

The portion of the Mauritius fish did fit my appetite. Though I might find that the external layer of the Pan Seared Fish was dark drown and dry, the meat that was still pack full of moisture and sweet. This meal is never completed without smashed potatoes and vegetables.

Pan Seared Mauritius Fish - $21.90

I love how the rum steak was done. It had the char grilled marks on the meat, still retaining the juiciness and tenderness. Accompanied by the barbequed sauce and vinegarette salad, the meal is good to go.

US Prime Rum Steak - $38 (Set Meal with Erdinger)
Overall, I find that the service is good and environment is very ideal for people working around Tanjong Pagar Area. Most likely I would list this place into my suggestion of places to chill after work.
