For those who have been to Ayer Rajah Food Centre before during the peak hours, Chang Cheng Chicken Rice should not be any stranger to you. They are quite popular during lunch hours and you can seen their supporters all lining up waiting for their order.

What makes their chicken rice stays competitive is not only the taste of the fluffy fragrant chicken rice with tasty meat and also the additional ingredients on their plate and soup. Let's check it out.

Dices of salted vegetables as well as tomato and cucumber slices makes up the appetizer on the plate and with some lime juice over the flavored roasted chicken, it definitely level up its taste. Moreover the soup is no ordinary soup as they are murky in color filled with cooked beans as well as chicken feet. At such pricing, its definitely worth the money. Xin Mei Congee

Xin Mei Congee has a few chains in Singapore and I chance upon one of the stalls during my visit to the Old Airport Road Food Centre. Coincidentally, we managed to find a seat just right next to their stall.

We have ordered their mix pork porridge with additional egg, that's what we called it comfort food with a long stick dough that comes together. Patrons may opt to have it cut into pieces of the porridge or have it in a piece.

Porridge's texture was silky, not too sludgy or overly heavy, a perfect bowl to warming the stomach.

House of Ban Mian

Mesmerized by the neatly dressed chef in the House of Ban Mian carrying a big dough and scrapping pieces by pieces skillfully aimed into the hot pot in front of him, I decided to order a bowl of "Dao Xiao Mian" (Hand Shaved Noodle).

Having a bowl of Hand Shaved Noodle is comparatively cheaper than those in Chinese restaurant.The soup was indeed very sweet and flavorful, loaded with ingredients like fried Ikan Billis, mushrooms, shredded carrots, vegetables, egg and fried onions.

Dao Xiao Mian - $6

Portions was quite big to my consumption and after a few mouthfuls of the shaved noodle, I'm actually quite full and unable to continue eating. It was quite thick in my opinion and I felt like eating dough, totally not the Dao Xiao Mian in my expectation.
