Golden Moments Flagship Store

My durian cravings have finally been satisfied with a visit to the Golden Moments Flagship Store. It's been about a year since my last trip, so I was really excited to see the refreshed food menu.

Durians on Display

We kicked off the meal with a bowl of Golden Crab Noodles , a rich, comforting dish that was slow-cooked for 3 hours. It featured handmade crab balls, prawns, and a perfectly cooked onsen egg. The broth was incredibly addictive, warming the stomach with every spoonful, while the smooth, silky noodles slid down effortlessly.

They served a generous portion of crab meat in a separate crab-shaped bowl to pair with the noodles. It felt like such a treat to be pampered this way, no need to pick through shells, just pure, succulent crab meat ready to enjoy!

The fries were stylishly presented on a serving board, generously topped with bonito flakes that added an irresistible umami punch. We loved pairing each crispy bite with the creamy mentaiko sauce on the side, a truly satisfying combo!

The grilled chicken yakitori was plump, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Coated in a sweet sauce and finished with a drizzle of mayonnaise, each bite was a delightful balance of savory and creamy.

The croissant with pistachio nuts was simply delightful. Its flaky, buttery layers were topped with a generous crunch of pistachios, making it absolutely irresistible. If you’re a fan of both pastries and pistachios, this one’s a definite must-try!

The star of my meal was none other than the Golden Durian Swirl, also their bestselling showstopper. This indulgent dessert featured swirls stacked with two pieces each of Black Thorn and D197 Musang King Durian, a true durian lover’s dream. At the base, it came with a Golden Mao Shan Wang Strudel, two pieces of their Signature Golden MSW QQ Balls, and a duo of refreshing beverages to complete the set. An absolutely luxurious and satisfying durian experience!

The Handmade Lemon Tea was refreshingly good, light, zesty, and not overly sweet, with a few slices of lemon adding a bright citrusy kick.

The Sour Plum Smoothie was another refreshing treat , icy, tangy, and perfect for beating the heat. It struck a nice balance between sweet and sour, making it a great palate cleanser too.

The Black Thorn durian offers a truly unique experience, with its powdery texture that’s both creamy and complex. It strikes a perfect balance between dense and soft, creating a rich, indulgent mouthfeel. What truly sets it apart is its bittersweet flavor, complemented by a subtle, almost intoxicating alcoholic undertone that makes each bite memorable. This exceptional durian is a must-try for anyone seeking a refined and layered taste profile.

Mao Shan Wang, more commonly known as Musang King, is highly prized for its rich, custard-like texture and its perfectly balanced bittersweet flavor. The durian’s distinct taste is both powerful and persistent, lingering long after each bite and leaving a lasting impression.

We concluded our Golden Moments experience on a cooling and refreshing note with their royal pistachio gelato. This velvety treat was perfectly complemented by crunchy biscotti crumbles, making each bite a delightful mix of smooth and satisfying textures.

Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market

While spending a day in Seogwipo, we visited the Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market both in the morning and evening. The morning felt rather quiet, allowing us to take in the local atmosphere at a slower pace. As tourists, we enjoyed immersing ourselves in the culture, observing how Koreans make their livelihood through their businesses.

Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market

The market felt like a cleaner, more spacious, and well-organized version of our wet markets, offering everything from seafood and fresh produce to baked goods and more.

Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market

Located in Seogwi-dong, Seogwipo, Jeju Province, this is the largest and oldest permanent market in the area. As both a major tourist attraction and an economic hub, it offers a glimpse into local life while showcasing a wide variety of goods, from fresh seafood to traditional snacks.

While exploring the market, we came across Songsabu and decided to grab some pastries and bread to try.

A golden-brown, twisted donut generously coated in sugar, giving it a delightful crunch on the outside while remaining soft and airy on the inside. Lightly sweet and incredibly addictive, it’s a perfect treat for a quick snack on the go!

The Salad Series Bread came neatly packaged in a small cardboard box, making it perfect for munching on the go as we wandered through the market.

Deep-fried to golden perfection, the bread was irresistibly crispy on the outside and pillow-soft inside. Filled with shredded crabstick, egg, and a touch of salad cream, it was delightfully savory and addictive.

While exploring one section of the market, we came across this iconic Jeju statue, playfully dressed with quirky sunglasses and a cute knitted hat. A fun and charming sight that perfectly captures the vibrant personality of Jeju!

The market is quite large, with several distinct segments to explore. Each section offers something different, making it an exciting place to wander through.

Another exit

With a seafood craving in full swing, I couldn’t take my eyes off this fiery spectacle, a stall dramatically grilling lobsters with melted cheese over towering flames. It was an unmissable sight and an even more tempting treat!

After getting hooked on Jeju’s abalone from my last meal, I couldn’t resist having more at the market. I went back to the same stall, but this time, it didn’t quite live up to my previous experience.

While enjoying freshly grilled food at the shared benches, my eyes caught sight of something refreshing, the Watermelon Drink! Served in a mini watermelon with ice, it looked absolutely adorable and irresistible. Awww… just look at how awesome it is!

I spotted some kimchi meat rolls and couldn’t resist joining the queue to try them out. Drizzled beautifully with sauce, each bite was hearty, savory, and satisfying.

Some Rolls

I guess we discovered this stall a little too late—our stomachs were already full from everything we had earlier. The long queue caught our attention, and it seemed to be selling some kind of rolls. Definitely a popular spot!

Looks good

옛날통닭 Old Fashion Fried Chicken

Having walked past this place multiple times, we were always tempted by the irresistible aroma of deep-fried chicken lingering along the corridor. Even though we had already finished dinner, we found it hard to resist giving in to our cravings.

옛날통닭 Old Fashion Fried Chicken

Being Korean-illiterate, I could only point at what I wanted through the glass display. We ordered a whole deep-fried chicken and waited about 5–10 minutes for it, opting for takeaway. The chicken was absolutely delicious, perfectly crispy on the outside, with an aromatic flavor that was deeply satisfying.

We kicked off our meal at Little Red House Seafood with the Jackfruit Salad, a refreshing and vibrant dish featuring Buah Long Long dressing and fresh vegetables from Edible Garden City. While this is a Chinese seafood restaurant, the salad caters to modern dining trends, appealing to those who enjoy a fresh and healthy start. The addition of crispy rice brought a fragrant crunch, while jackfruit and pomegranate added a natural sweetness. I particularly loved the use of Ice Plant, which enhanced the dish with its unique texture and refreshing bite. A great way to begin our meal!

The Grilled Marinated Squid was a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds. Perfectly seasoned with paprika and carrot, it was grilled to an attractive red hue, with beautifully charred edges that enhanced its smoky aroma. The squid was tender yet had a satisfying bite, and it was thoughtfully paired with jellyfish on the side, adding a refreshing contrast to the dish. A well-executed seafood delight

Expecting the usual flavors from a Chinese restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised by this dish. It featured a generous portion of meat and was fragrantly served with red pepper, cashew nuts, and cut fried lemongrass. The unexpected combination of ingredients added depth to the dish, bringing in a mix of spice, crunch, and aromatic goodness. A delightful twist that elevated our dining experience!

Amidst the bold and flavorful seafood dishes, the Stir-Fried Broccolini with two types of fresh mushrooms provided a refreshing balance to the meal. The broccolini stalks were perfectly crunchy, retaining their natural sweetness, while the mushrooms added an earthy depth.

Yes, it's finally here, the Crab Mantou!

Finally!
Finally!

The Signature Nanyang Style Crab was truly enticing, with its rich and fragrant sauce that perfectly complemented the succulent crab meat. The Nanyang-style spicy sauce had just the right level of heat and not too overpowering, allowing the deep flavors to shine. The sauce itself was exceptionally good, making it a highlight of the meal and a dish worth savoring.

Wrapping up our scrumptious meal was the Crispy Bubur Cha Cha, beautifully served in an old-school metal bowl and plate, adding a touch of nostalgia. The dessert was chilled and refreshing, with a layer of sago filling up its top surface. It was further elevated with a crispy garnish of fried shredded sweet potatoes, adding both texture and flavor.
