Spotted the French Table in West Coast Plaza during its 2nd day of operation with standing flowers placed at the entrance and we walked closer to check them out. As we were drawing near the menu, the friendly lady shout out "bonsoir" which means good evening when translated from French.
The environment designed with a French theme with rattan chairs and one can get a glimpse of the kitchen helpers through the opening in the restaurant.
The French Table
What's on the menu? Let us check them out.
Menu
Slow cooked cured spanish Pork Belly served with baguette and cornichon. A good choice of appetizer before starting the mains. It is to be eaten like a bread spread.
Pork Rillette - $6.80
The spread
Cream of wild mushroom soup served with Alba Truffle Oil. It was packed full of fragrance but tasted rather heavy on the cream.
Wild Mushroom Soup - $5.80
One of the popular traditional French dish which involved long cooking hours of the duck meat."Confit", means "preserved" in french and these ducks' legs are imported. Its crispy brown skin is a scene stealer and as we lift up this layer, the luscious flesh consists of a good scent of herb. This dish is served paired with red wine sauce, house salad and creamy smashed potato.
Confit de cannard - $18.80
Half chicken and steamed Broccolini served with onion sauce. The skin was roasted quite well, however probably due to the reheating of food, the meat had lost some of the juiciness but the flesh was still tender enough. Onion sauce was a good complement to the meat although its a tad salty.
Oven Roasted 1/2 Chicken - $15.80
The French Table has brought authentic french cuisine to the masses by setting up its first stall in West Coast Plaza. Heartlanders are able to enjoy french food at a reasonable price. Rating: 3.5 / 5

Dean's Cafe was located deeply into the neighborhood and if it wasnt
through my colleague's recommendation, I would not have known of the
place existence despite having myself staying in Jurong for such a long
period.
Environment of the cafe was quite welcoming especially as it has
alfresco dinning with wavy trees by the side. Place was rather airy with
no mozzies around and seems relaxing. We were dinning in outdoors at
the lower ground and looking up into the upper ground, one will get to
see the traffic of the road heading towards Jurong East direction. Bus
stop is just a stone throw away and is readily accessible.
Putian (Xing Hua) Kitchen
Garnished with roasted nuts and laver with a generous amount of seafood
was actually quite a steal. Each strand of Xing Hua Bee Hoon is
characterized by light natural flavour of Xing Hua Cuisine.
Xing Hua Bee Hoon - $4
The Qing Fen is another level up of the former but in a wet version distinctively filled with toufu cubes, more pork and tau pok. It was tasty and as good as the Xing Hua Bee Hoon.
Xing Hua Qing Fen - $4
Sweet and Sour Pork with Lychee was second in serving. Pork was crisply
fried and was coated with sweet sour savory sauce consisting tomatoes,
pineapples, capsicums and cucumber. If not for the added sweet lychees,
one would have not known that this is actually representing a Xing Hua
dish.
Sweet and Sour Pork with Lychee - $8
Lychee
With such a minority occupancy locally, Xing Hua Cuisine had been too
commercialized and was portrayed as an expensive cuisine to start with.
However, Xing Hua (Putian) kitchen has given us an alternative fix enjoying such
Cuisine at a wallet-friendly pricing. If one don't mind its non
air-conditioned environment and can do without a restaurant service,
this is definitely a good find in the West! Rating: 4 / 5
The attractive big signboard illustrated with the media article had drawn most of my attention to Chai's Original Sliced Fish Soup among all other stalls in Funan Digital Life Mall Food Court. Not only that, tables and tables of hotpots were seen and patrons were happily enjoying their food over the naked fire.
Chai's Original Sliced Fish Soup
Want to enjoy 2 kinds of fish in a bowl of noodles? We have the double fish soup lavished with lots of fried onions, vegetables in the white soup made up of evaporated milk.
Double Fish Soup - $5
The usual fish soup would have their Tom Yum soup in a bowl but I get to enjoy my pot of noodles in this spicy and sour soup over the flaming fire in a steamboat pot. It was my first time to have everything "dumped" into the pot. The sotong was fresh and chewy on its rings. Soup was tasty with vegetables added sweetness to taste.
$6.00 - Tom Yum Seafood Soup
Last but not least, how can I forget these deep fried egg which is so sinfully good. Well, this is what I'm here for. For those who enjoy them too, these can be added at additional cost.
Fried Egg - $0.80

Teochew style seafood soup is a relatively new stall in Ayer Rajah Food Centre. Since there are already a number of fish soup stall available it seems a little competitive in the area. The stall is well orientated with its ingredients neatly placed and
stacked. Although the queue is long, the uncle still shows his
professionalism, cooked and served every bowl steadily.
Teochew Style Seafood Soup
I can say that this Tom Yum soup is the best in the Ayer Rajah market and food centre. It is spicy, sour enough and sweet enough with its seafood ingredients. What gave me a surprise was that its seafood was quite fresh especially the Sotong, its very tender and easy to chew. Not very often we get to see clams in normal Tom Yum Seafood soup of a fish stall and it's found here. I also noticed that their tom yam seafood soup has strong lemon grass aroma with Asam leave included. Looks convincing isn't it?
Tom Yam Seafood with Bee Hoon - $3.50
Each order was freshly prepared and cook thoroughly before serving
therefore the waiting time is abit longer than the usual stalls. The fish soup was pretty ordinary to me but the portion was rather generous.
Fried Fish Meat Bee Hoon - $3
Overall, the lady who is taking the order is rather friendly. I will mark this as one of my frequent stalls in Ayer Rajah Food Centre for Tom Yam's sake!

If you are looking for a light meal in Ayer Rajah Hawker Centre, Chinatown Porridge may be of a perfect choice to you. Specialised in porridge, they offer a range from chicken porridge to raw fish porridge.
Chinatown Porridge
As of now, this is the only stall in the hawker centre that sells raw fish porridge. Raw fish was placed separately from the bowl of hot plain porridge.
Raw Fish with Plain Porridge - $3
Another simple and plain meal available will be their cuttlefish porridge.
Cuttlefish Porridge - $3
Tasted a little bland but the amount of cuttlefish provided was still acceptable.
Cuts of Cuttlefish
If you still have stomach room for other food, you can try ordering some snacks like their Chee Cheong Fun and Yam cake. Instead of the brownish red sweet sauce, they are using the traditional black sweet sauce for these snacks added with some sesame seeds and oil to bring out the fragrance in the dish. Though oil was added, the snacks tend to stick together and was not as moist as expected.
Chee Cheong Fun
Personally I will prefer their yam cake to Chee Cheong Fun as they are soft and spongy. It comes in 3 size and cost $1, $1.50 and $2 respectively. It's a tad expensive when compared to its portion, however its still worth a try.
Yam Cake - $1.50 (Medium)

Well-loved Earl Grey Tea with a distinct flavor and aroma perfumed with bergamot and vanilla softee.

Enjoy the moment with this melted chocolate on top of the souffle, warm. The natural bitterness of the chocolate was well balanced up by the icing sugar drizzled on top of the spongy souffle.
Valrhona Chocolate Souffle - $13.80
Overall, I find that the food is of average. However, service was prompt and friendly with a good ambience suitable for families and friends. Rating: 3 / 5
Cosy Corner, a hidden gem in Cornation Plaza. We read about the articles on how their poh piah fares and decided to give it a try. Unfortounately, Poh Piahs are not available on Sundays.
Indeed the shop name suits the environment! They are located in one corner of the old building with limited seating space.
My Cosy Corner
Order sheets were given and I'm amazed by the number of items My Cosy Corner Offered, from japanese cuisine to blended milk tea.
Menu Sheets
Its interior was neat, plastered with articles from the media featuring some of the dishes and tubs of home made pastries like pineapple tart were for sale. While in the background, they were playing some soothing music from the 80s which make the environment so laid back on a Sunday morning.
Interior
Laksa can be of a perfect fight to Prima's laksa. The thick rice noodle was soaked well in the aromatic coconut flavoured soup, with Tak Pok, eggs, fishcake and hard boiled egg. When compared, perhaps the losing part is that this is not as thick as what we had from prima. For laksa with prawns, it can be ordered at additional cost.
Laksa
Another local delight we had was Mee Rebus, featuring its rich sweet and spicy sauce and topped with cubes of bean curd cubes and egg.
Mee Rebus
Till now, I still remember how contented I was on a Sunday morning over this dish! The little cups of the Kueh Pie Tee was very crunchy filled with cut pieces of egg while the rest of the ingredients is up to us to fill in.
Kueh Pie Tee
Let's experience the fun of filling up these cups!
It was a fun experience handling the Kueh Pie Tie and filling them up with the ideal amount of ingredients to one's taste.
Kueh Pie Tee
The vegetables was boiled till soften, still retaining its moisture and juiciness within. The crispy crust of the cups together with such sweet tasting fillings was heavenly. The chilli was awesome! A perfect powerful spice to the entire cup. I still remember that the spice was so strong resulting in tears flowing down. So for those who dont take much spice, you may want to skip a little here.
I'm still very keen to find out how their Poh Piah taste like and I will be back soon, hopefully not on a Sunday. Rating: 4 / 5
