Heng Heng Curry Cafe

Heng Heng Curry Cafe serves a variety of local delicacies, serving dishes from diverse culture group in Singapore. The place was easily accessible at Woodlands, basement of Causeway Point Shopping Centre.

Heng Heng Curry Cafe
Delicacies offered were well like by young and old. Families were seen dining with the signature's dish of the cafe placed on the table over the flaming fire.

Greeted by the Red Hot Curry on the cover page of the Menu, it's hard to miss out such a starring dish.

Heng Heng Curry Cafe Menu

Instead of the traditional feedback form placed on the table, Heng Heng Curry Cafe welcome comments, feedbacks or suggestions via email as stated in their signage which was glued on to every  table.

The beverages that ease the spiciness for the night was none other than the sour plum juice served in the old rustic kind of cup which seemed to have chipped off. Dont be fool by the look, its actually design on purpose and its made of glass instead of the old school metal cup.

Sour Plum Juice - $3.80

While my dinner kaki had his cup of refreshing lychee drink to pair with. A pretty common drink filled with 2 lychee fruit and syrup.

Refreshing Lychee Drink - $3.80
Made fresh and served daily, all their Ngoh Hiang rolls were delicately prepared according to their secret recipes with ingredients from our local market. Dabbed them into the sweet dark sauce and enjoyed a burst of mouthful unique flavours. Altogether with its cripsy texture, it is a perfect side dish to the main dish or even good to pair with just plain white rice.

Signature Home-made Ngoh Hiang Meat Roll - $9.90

The signature's item that was well liked by all. It was advised that one should not leave the restaurant without trying Heng Heng's Curry Fish head. This portion allows a serving from 2 to 3 pax.

Heng Heng Signature Curry Fish Head - $28.90
This local favourite dish with their distinctive combination of flavour under the naked fire. The level of spiciness was still bearable, prepared with their unique blend of freshly ground spices and handpicked ingredients. The teochew style of fish head with fresh "Ang Ko Li" Fish simmered in the well tangy flavoured curry is indeed mouthwatering.

Signature's Curry

The amount of coconut milk used was pretty well ratio with an acceptable curry thickness.  I will recommend this place for family dining.

Kenny Rogers @ JB

Kenny Rogers Roasters is located in the ground level of AEON Tebrau City Shopping Centre and near to the entrance. The note worthy items from Kenny Rogers is none other than their Rotisserie chicken and home made muffins which is why we were there.

Kenny Rogers Roasters Interior Dining

Service was lacking in speed even though there were only few customers at tea time.

Kenny ROgers Roasters Serviette

The muffins  was part of the meals ordered. (Came 1 per meal) . Chocolate and vanilla flavoured muffins were served warm, fluffy and comes with a light taste. Not too sweet and came as a good bite before the actual meal.

Chocolate Muffin (Come with the meal)

Vanilla Muffin with Rasins (Come with the meal)
The soda drink is a mixture of guava, passion and mango fruit. Sweet, cooling and refreshing.

Drink
Rich creamy pumpkin soup sprinkled with crunchy croutons as mentioned on its menu. However it turned out to be the reversed, it was neither rich creamy nor it came with crunchy croutons. Though thickened cream was added, I felt that it was abit diluted and taste of pumpkins was not that intensive enough.

Golden Pumpkin Soup

Roasted 1/2 chicken with 3 side dishes, coleslaw, mashed potato & gravy and BBQ baked beans.
RED Hot Meal - RM 18.50

Enjoy the roasted taste of their signature's chicken added with pepper taste. Kenny Rogers does live up to their namesake, their chicken was tender and packed with mositure with an exterior well roasted to golden brown perfection.

Fresh crisp lettuce, onion, cucumber & egg tossed with Kenny's special Thousand island dressing topped with sliced rotisserie-roasted chicken served with Home-made Muffin. It's a cold dish, thus the chicken was chilled, tasty and quite stomach filling especially with those rich Thousand Island dressing.

Roasted Chicken Salad - RM 17.90

San Lou Seafood

San Low Seafood is located in the area of Taman Pelangi and is rather popular among the Singapore Diners as well as the locals. Even though they are located in the private estates, one do not have to worry about the carpark lots as there are carpark ushers around to help you out.

San Lou Seafood
The place was wide and spacious which was able to accomodate table and table of families. What's more they had a open concept kitchen whereby customers get to have some glimpse from the chefs.  As seen from the picture, it was full house on a weekend night.

Dining Environment
Due to the overwhelming response, we settled down even before the table was cleared by the helpers and menu was given to us upon settling down. Menu was extensive and categorize in Seafood, vegetables and their signature dishes were displayed on the book cover.

Menu

What I like about their seafood was their freshness. Customers get to choose their favourite seafood and had a estimate of the cost by its weigh. Although the area was packed full with customers, the service was patient.

Choose your seafood

My all time favourite drink from them is the sour plum juice. This round it was very sour with a little sweetness but it makes was all good to have them before the dishes came along as they help to create a bigger stomach space.

Plum Juice - RM 2.50 Each
Simply love the sambal belachan chilli with lime which burst full of flavour espeically when you dabbed abit of those on your food.

Chilli
The pork ribs were tender and flavourful, drenched with sweet tasting gravy all over.

Pork Ribs - RM 12 (Small)
Opted to have the fish served in Teochew Style. It meat was very tender and one can actually taste the fineness of its meat, not only that that they had cooked the dish in such way with preseved vegetables, tomatoes, chilli and parsley which make entire dish very appetizing. Had spoonfuls of its soup on the plate, it was cleared but flavourful.

Fish - RM 45 (by weigh)

The colour fo the egg was yellowish, unlike the usual ones we had. Egg was soft and very fluffy, a very interesting choice for egg lovers as it was filled with fishcakes, prawns and luncheon meat.

Cotton Rose Fries Egg - RM 8 (Medium)
Stirred fried Kai Lan was great as well. It's buttery fragrance made the crunchy greens so tasty together with minced garlic.

Vegetables - RM 15
Their must try dish, Signature San Lou Mee Hun! Do not judge the book by its cover. The outstanding part was its presentation, which always come flat on its top, instead of the usual "hill" pile we had. The bee hoon was infused with seafood broth and every strand was fine. The charred and crisp outlook looked pretty ordinary but it was yummlicious despite the simple ingredients like prawns, vegetables, chicken and fishcake. I was rather shocked to see that the large plate of Mee Hun had strunk in size.

San Lou Mee Hun - RM 12 (Large)

For those who do not like to wait, it is best to be there earlier before meal times. During peak hours during my visit, I had waited about an hour before the food came in place.

For guarantee freshness of seafood, San Lou is my excellent dinner place whenever I'm near Taman Pelangi Area. This place is good for dining in groups too.

Our event was beautifully wrapped up with a wonderful lunch at Saizeriya. Thanks OpenRice for the treat and organising such enjoyable event in every aspects.

Saizeriya
The first impression that Saizeriya had given me was its warm environment due to afternoon sun's heat.  The interior green PVC cushion and pillars with brown furniture reminds me of Jack's Place.

Interior

To start off, we were served with a plate of 8 golden glossy looking wings. They wings were quite inviting as an appetizer and well coated with sweetness. A little force was required to pull them out the pan as their base were rahter sticky.

I'm a fan of such clams, unfortunately it was a let down as it was not sweet enough. Perhaps more seasonings has to be added to reduce the seafood smell.

Baked Asari Clam - $3.90

A refreshing flavour of vanilla and raspberry ice cream for a after meal.
Vanilla & Raspberry Ice Cream - $1.90
Make of ancient roman recipe, it has a flavour of milk and egg. One good thing about it its not sweet and low in calories.

Panna Cotta - $4.90

Served with some cosmetic defects, the tiramisu was rich in flavours and consisting of sponge cake with liquor then stacked with grated chocolate and rich custard.

Tiramisu Cake - $4.90
Comprising of two kind of flavoured ice cream which are sculpted together with the hand and exterior looking at muffins. You would not have known until you have dig into its core.

In summary, I find that their food was average. Dishes prices were all listed as nett, thus no more hidden cost is required. For those who required lots of drink during their meals, Saizeriya offers free flow of drinks at $2.80 per pax.

Madee Thai

This is one of the many times we had Thai Cuisine during lunch hours from Madee Thai.  Making advance reservation is always our practice so as to minimize the waiting time. What's more, with reservation, there is no need to adopt the use of Tissue-Chopping tables method. It's all done up for us.

A bowl of Tom Yum Soup was definitely a good start to whet our appetite! It's tangy, sour and spicy after taste was the best out of all. For me the level of spiciness was still bearable with "shiokness". lending your sweat drops dripping. If you ask me, its definitely worth a little BO and do not forget about your tissues.

Seafood Tom Yam

Soft fluffy omelette felt so at home. Another perfect choice during lunch! Totally love it!
Egg Omelette

Pandan Chicken, however was abit of lacking in fragrance and marinating sauce wasnt as intensive. Nevertheless, it still tasted good with our bowls of plain white rice.

Pandan Chicken

Opted for minced pork in combination of the brinja dish. Soften and spongy in every bite, the cook was skilled enough without turning the dish into sogginess. Estimated use of heat and timing was just nice.

Brinja with Minced Pork

A definite value for money meal compared to dining in the nearby mall for Thai Cuisine if you want to save your pocket a little skipping the additional extra service charges and taxes.

Total Cost: $28 (Consisting of 4 dishes and 4 white rice)
