Little Diner

I did an reservation via chope for our dinner to celebrate one of our pals birthday in September. Reservation was as easy as ABC with the reservation portion as confirmation was given just within minutes. Little Diner is just along Bukit Timah Road at unit Seven Eight Nine (what a rhyme),serving hearty food, homemade with love.

Little Diner
Interior was industrial themed, cemented flooring and flush with grey concrete walls and chalk writings on the board. awesome service from the staff. They were friendly and attentive to the diners' need.

Menus were all well kept by the assistants in the crate near the entrance. An unusual sight, I thought but one thing I like about it is that it is very accessible as our tables are located just beside the crate.

Where are the menus

Cream thickness of the wild mushroom soup was perfect, coupled with fine chunks of blended mushroom within, fiinished with Truffle Oil and Garlic Croutons. Pepper were then added on the spot by the assistant with their pepper grinder.

Wild Mushroom Soup - $9.50
Having the
Roasted Tomato Soup (Soup of the day)
Are you up for a challenge? If we you are able to finish the entire plate, burger, fries and all in 20 minutes, the burger is free.

Empire Burger is a dish good for 3 to 4 pax or 1 extremely hunger person? It consists of 3 Beef Patties, multiple slices of Bacon, Swiss & Cheddar cheese, fried egg, caramelized onions, lettuce and tomato.

Empire Burger - $50
The done-ness of the patties were done base on our selections. Just looked at the cheesy substances and the tantalizing thick patties with some bacons revealed. I bet you cant hold your appetite any longer.

Looking through the food applications on the phone, we decided to order the crabcakes based on good reviews and recommendations. These golden brown crabcakes pillow were about 3cm in diamter, light and fluffy accompanied by a chipotle Aioli.

Lafayetter Crabcakes - $12 (2 Pcs)
By nature, these crabcakes did have their crustacean taste, together with the fantastic sauce and lemon juice squeeze over them, it makes them a refreshing treat before our empire burgers were served onto the tables.
Lafayetter Crabcake
Last but not least, the empire meal comes with a dessert.Just like all of their menu, all desserts were made in-house.Torn between the banana & nutella quesadilla and apple crumble, we finally came into a decision with the latter. Luckily it is not too sweet for me and this will definite hit right on the spot on all desserts lover.

Old Fashioned apple crumble with vanilla ice -cream - $9
All in all, service was impeccable. Perhaps the only feedback we had was that the done-ness of the beef patty was way above what we had actually ordered, losing out its succulency. Other than that, it was a good place to dine and relax.

Two Blur Guys

Two Blur Guys, an inquisitive name given for a burger joint located in Orchid Hotel. The story behind such naming is about 2 guys who had shown their passion for burgers and pastries in a New York Concept Cafe. Knowing nuts after the food industries, they discovered a new way of serving burgers which blew them away.

Two Blur Guys
Seats are pretty limited but still it serves as a cosy eating joint for burgers. Environment was compact for dining and the smells of burger patties lingers amongst the air. Even though they were known for their blurness, a slight humour they have made was to assure customers with such sentence on their menu "Do excuse us because we're blur about everything. Except our burgers...Maybe". Ha!

Interior
Burgers meals were served with a solid wooden board with chilled homemade potato salad and balsamic vinegar sprinkled on the crunchy greens. Their sandwiched was specially designed with wholemeal bread.

Pulled Pork Burger - $13.85

An option for dinners to have pulled pork or the chicken burger. Burger was packed warmth with marinated pulled pork encased by the layer of gruyere cheese with honey mustard spreaded on them, the harmony of sauce with its tender and succulent pork

Cheesy Pork Burger

Juicy and thick Prime beef patty stuffed in between the wholemeal flavour with big-sized streaky bacon and Gruyere Cheese

Prime Beef with Streaky Bacon - $17.95

After so much rave on Two Blur Guys, I can finally strike them off my "to eat" list. Burgers maybe a tad expensive due to its location and premium ingredients used. I would say burger are good but not to die for and dont worry, those guys aren't that blur after all. On a side note, service is friendly and there is no GST charge for now.

Fat's Boy Mix-and-Match

There were still ample of empty spaces left in our stomach after enjoying the petite portions of french cuisine nearby as our dinner in Far East Plaza and we decided to walk around for some bites. We chanced upon the burger bar which looked rather interesting and paused for a moment. The outlook of the bar looks funky looking with some cute characters drew on the wall. It's checkered tilings was blended well into its theme color, black and white. Shop area was not very big and can only accommodate up to 12 pax which includes 2 4-seaters table and 4 other seat by the side of the wall.

The idea of making my own burger had never come across my mind especially in Singapore where fast food are so easily available, prepacked and standardize. What most amazed me was that they had actually created an application on Ipad (available on 2 sets of ipad at the burger bar), suggesting customers to "build" their own burgers there. Implementing the use of the shopping cart experience system, its indeed very convenient and familiar to someone who had done online shopping before. Process of customizing burger was systematic, from choosing the type of bun, meat patty to even sauces add on just with a few triggers of the radio buttons. Sophisticated! When you are done with your choice, just click on "check out" and proceed to the cashier (And yes! At least there are still human touch)

A fridge was placed next to the counter, out of convenience, we grabbed a jar of Tiramisu. As seen from the picture above, the fridge was covered with a shade/screen, it was rather a good idea as it maintains the chillness, keeps the cool air within the system and not affecting the one who is sitting in front of it.

Bundled and tied up in a glass jar, Tiramisu Hero was real good, much more than I had expected.

It had an acceptable amount of alcohol content followed by a well controlled wetness level. The sweetness strikes a perfect balance between the pillow soft Tiramisu layers and the liquor. Yums!

We did not have anything fanciful and had just only built the basic of a burger, bun, meat, vegetables (pickles, lettuce, tomatoes) and sauce at no additional cost but it's all satisfiable enough.

Given an option of mix-and-match burger, it definitely attracts food pedant who are consciously aware their food intakes and those who likes to make their own burger. Having seen and tasted its quality, I would say that pricing is very comfortable, moreover the portions are "fat". This place is highly recommendable for its quality, price and portion!
