Tasty Sarawak Kolo Mee

Recently, I'm in the mood for Sarawak Kolo Mee and by words of mouth, we heard that this stall located in Toh Guan's Coffeeshop is one of the recommended Kolo Mee places to try.

Though Laksa was recommended item to try, we still went ahead ordering the basic bowls of Kolo Mee and with a bowl of soup.

Ordered a big bowl of meatball soup for sharing and we manage to swap one of it for fishballs as they are running out of meatballs. The taste was pretty ordinary, perhaps one thing I do not enjoy was the smell of the balls were too strong for me.

Like most Kolo Mee Stall, they offer the noodles in Black, white or the red version. We ordered the black version in its biggest portion. Noodle was springy, tossed in black sauce & shallot oil with the usual ingredients such as minced meat and slices of Char Siew Meat. The bowl of Kolo Mee was liven up with the green colors of chopped spring onions.

While I had the Red version of Sarawak Kolo Mee for the small portion, I find that the taste between the red and black was the sauce used. Though noodles were springy, its was not the best I ever had so far. We hoped that the fragrance of the Kolo Mee could be somehow intensified.

Can you spot the difference between the 2 bowls?

There is an increase of ingredients and noodles between $4 and $5 portion.

Till date, if to compare Kolo Mee that I had, I'm still more in flavour of the one in Bedok, Sarawak Delicacy Laksa & Kolo Mee. On a side note, I will still want to make a trip back to have a taste of their Laksa.
