Fu Qiang Pig Organ Soup 富强猪杂汤

We visited Fu Qiang Pig's Organ Soup Stall for a good spread of Kway Chap, Pig Ogran Soup as well as Braised Pig Trotter.

Fu Qiang Pig Organ Soup

The Braised Pig Trotter was well braised until meat easily fell off the bone. The Portion given was not very fatty and the braised sauce was delicious to pair with a plain bowl of rice. The skin was chewy with a layer of fat melting in the mouth.

Braised Pig Trotter 卤猪脚 - $6

The bowl of Pig's Organ Soup definitely fits the bill for it was flavourful and rich, filled with generous ingredients like meatballs, tofu, lean meat, intestine, stomach, pork belly etc. It was really appetizing with the preserved vegetables in the salty soury taste that made me not stop at just a few spoonfuls.

Pig's Organ Soup 猪杂汤 - $5

The standard of Kway Chap was there. Each and every item was cooked till softened with a decent braised taste. Ingredients were pretty standard with pork belly, intestines, tau pok, braised egg etc. Kway on the other hand was smooth, soaking up the broth.

Kway Chap 粿汁 - $5.50

The staff was friendly and attentive. Besides all these we had ordered, some patrons ordered their Bak Kut Teh too. The selection of dishes was wide from Fu Qiang Pig Organ Soup.

Beach Road Prawn Mee Eating House

With the last visit to Beach Road Prawn Mee Eating House in the year 2020, I can still see many die hard fans queueing up for their bowls of yummy Prawn Mee as well as Wu Xiang. Over the years, their operations and queuing system is still efficient.

Beach Road Prawn Mee Eating House

The Prawn Mee Selection is rather straight forward, just pick the options and decide on the portion and style that you want to have.

Menu

The Standard of their basic bowl of prawn noodles still remains as tasty as before. The broth was tasty with fried shallot oil added. It was clear type without a heady taste or any overpowering prawn taste, not too dilute too. The bowl of noodle portion is rather decent with medium size prawns served.

Prawn Mee 虾面 - $6.50

Those who enjoyed the combination of Prawn Mee with Pork Ribs can order this. The broth tasted slightly different with pork ribs in it. The pieces of pork ribs were bone-falling tender and like the Prawn Mee, besides the halves of prawns and noodles, ingredients such as bean sprouts were part of the dish. Fried shallot oil were used as well to enhance the fragrant.

Prawn with Pork Ribs Mee 大虾排骨面 - $9.50

Tender Pork Ribs

Visiting the Prawn Mee Eating House will not be completed without having their Wu Xiang and we had selected the items we wanted. The majority of the patrons will have their share of Wu Xiang Ordered on top of their prawn noodles. Looking at the empty stacks of boxes that used to contain the fried crackers, I would say that many of the patrons do enjoy having Wu Xiang.

Ngoh Hiong - $22

For such standard and quality, of course I do not mind making a visit once more.

Pure Soya Bean 纯香豆浆

While being around in the area, we visited Toa Payoh West Market & Food Center and decided to have Bean Curd Dessert despite looking at the long queue.

The Bean Curd was wobbly, silky and smooth, not too sweet. Easily got us addicted.

Bean Curd

We had another version of the Bean Curd with Grass Jelly. The Grass Jelly was smooth and very bouncy. Its kind of satisfying having the cooling dessert.

How Yu Restaurant 好友 XO 鱼头米粉汤

With friends suggesting having a Cze Char Meal in Teban Gardens, here we are!

How Yu Restaurant

Enjoying the deep-fried slices of tender pork in combination with the unique flavours of fermented beancurd. Good for sharing but meat was on a dry side.

Fried Pork Preserved Beancurd 南乳炸肉 - $10

Next, we had stir-fried French Bean with Minced Meat. The French bean was deep-fried and looked pretty oily. Nonetheless, pairing up with the minced meat in sweet gravy made it tasty.

Stir Fried French Bean with Minced Meat 揉碎四季豆苗 - $8

A bowl of Fish Meat Been Hoon with chunks of fish and vegetables without the taste of XO. Looking at the price paid, it's quite decent.

XO Fish Meat Bee Hoon XO 鱼肉米粉 - $5

We had the smallest portion of creamy salted egg yolk sauce over the big prawns. Savoury and yummy.

Salted Egg Prawns

Deep-fried chunks of chicken coupled with some unpeeled deep-fried garlic cloves and cabbage made up the dish. It's a tad spicy and we found that the taste was on a dry side.

Spicy Garlic Chicken 蒜香鸡 - $12

The popular dish from JB (Johor Bahru) that is getting more common in Singapore is Char Stalls. The distinctive look of the flattened Bee Hoon offers a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that will tantalize your taste buds. Accompany the Bee Hoon will be vegetables, and prawns, sliced pork and egg.

JB San Lou Bee Hoon 柔佛三楼米粉 - $5

No doubt the price was relatively cheaper than most of the Cze Char Stall, we find that the standard and quality of food is moderate.

Mei Shi Cheng Congee 食城粥品

Mei Shi Cheng Congee is my other choice of place for Congee in Clementi besides those stalls in 448 Clementi Hawker Center. They offer a variety of congee and also Yee Mee.

Mei Shi Cheng Congee

Every bowl of Congee Ordered comes with cut portions of fried fritters topping up the congee with fried anchovies and spring onions.

Congee

A delightful combination of Meat Ball & Century Egg. Meat Balls were well seasoned and added depth to the overall congee together with the century egg.

The congee on the other hand had a smooth and creamy texture with rice grains fully cooked and softened. This combination is a comforting and satisfying dish that combines familiar flavours with unique ingredients.

Meat Ball & Century Egg Congee - $4

Another comforting congee selection will be pork congee. Rich and comforting with pork imparting a savoury depth to the dish. Porridge like wise has a thick and creamy consistency. Pork us tender and juicy adding a meaty contrast to the softness of the congee. The toppings like fried anchovies and spring onions had provided a crunchy texture element as well as balancing out the dish.

Pork Congee

Congee is a delicious and classic comfort food that offers a satisfying and nourishing eating experience. Its always warm both body and soul with each spoonful.

Xiang Mei Roasted Meat

I was introduced to this Traditional Popular Roasted Meat place up in the hills of Bukit Gombak Estate. I searched through the stalls of the coffee shop only to realise that Xiang Mei Roasted Meat is an eatery that has a whole unit space of its own.

Xiang Mei Roasted Meat

Just before entering the eatery, a big menu is plastered by the side of the wall, allowing patrons to decide what to order.

Menu

The texture of the noodles was springy and tossed in its seasoning with blanched vegetables. The white radish soup consists of softened cut radish blocks. Despite this plainness without the roasted meat, I felt that I could even finish the noodles and soup alone without other ingredients.

Noodles

For the 4 mixtures of meats, we have Angelica Duck, Roasted Chicken, Roasted Meat and Char Siew. The Roasted items on our platter were skillfully done in a uniform brownish colour in the outer layer, keeping the meat moist without getting too dry.

4 Mix - $15

While observing the "Ah Po" aka Granny sitting at one of the tables quietly working on wrapping up the dumplings one by one and enjoying my bowl of dumpling soup. Although I prefer the White Radish soup taste that comes with my noodle, I prefer these dumplings as it was plump and succulent with prawns, minced meat, crunchy water chestnut chunks accompanied by vegetables in the soup too.

Dumpling Soup 水饺汤 - $5.50

Enjoy the crackle from the top crispy layer while biting down the roasted meat.

Roasted Pork

Looking at the neverending queue, be it food deliveries or walk-in patrons, it's a good testament to the standard of food Xiang Mei Roasted Meat is serving. If you have not tried them, do give it a try!

Legacy Seafood 横行八道海鲜

With many friends having already visited this place, now it's my turn. While we were looking for some quiet place in the West Area for a decent dinner, one of us decided on Legacy Seafood. Legacy Seafood is known to offer Cze Char Dishes in their air-conditioned restaurant conveniently located along Science Center Road.

Legacy Seafood

We visited during of the weekday evenings and were rather happy that we had the whole place to our own before the sky turns darker.

Environment

With so many sauce selections for the Crab Dish, we opted for The Golden Sand for we thought it was quite special. The sauce was creamy and addictive with pumpkin and salted egg yolk which complemented the plump and juicy big crab.

Golden Sand Crab Delight 黄金沙螃蟹 - $105 per Kg

We enjoyed the Crustacean Gravy too with these little airy buns.

Buns

One of Legacy Seafood's recommended dishes is Fermented Vegetable with Minced Meat Beancurd.
The circular beancurn was crispy on the outside and wobby in the inside. It was topped with minced meat, preserved vegetables and spring onions.

Fermented Veg With Minced Meat Beancurd 味香豆腐 - $20

The execution of this Hor Fun Dish was pretty similar to the usual Hor Fun we have. A good highlight was that the seafood ingredients like prawn, squid and fish were generous. The scrumptious gravy was a tad spicy though.

Signature Hor Fun 招牌河粉 - $15

A familiar dish from Malaysia that I would never thought to see in Singapore. The leaves of kale were deep-fried till crisp and topped with fried anchovies alongside crunchy Kai Lan Stalks.

Crispy & Stir Fried Kale Combo 双味芥兰 - $18

Fans of Ribs and also enjoying a hearty infusion flavours? This Guinness Pork Rib might float your kind of dish. Enjoy these fall-off-the-bone, tender succulent pork ribs with a rich and complex taste achieved from the slow-cooking in Guinness Stout Beer as marinade

Guinness Pork Rib 黑啤酒排骨 - $20

Replacing the Bowls of Rice, we had the longevity noodles too. We ordered this as we thought this was special on the menu. The ingredients on the noodles were generous too with mushroom, prawns, vegetables, beansprouts, minced meat, shredded carrot etc.

Longevity Noodles 寿面 - $20

Noodle has a smooth texture and was not oily. Simple and taste good.
