Hong Guan Cooked Food 宏源熟食

Hong Guan Cooked Food is recommended for its Curry Fish Head by Shin Min Daily news. I still remember the days where they are located in the old Corporation Road Hawker Center and there was also a few stalls selling similar dishes.

We had an adhoc lunch out with the family on a weekend afternoon and since having Cze Char is better for sharing, we had decided to go for their Curry Fish Head.

The staple food to order if you are visiting Hong Guan is none other than their Claypot Fish Head curry. It's a dish good for sharing if you are in a group. The spicy level is acceptable and vegetables like lady's finger, brinjal, tomato were part of the ingredient that accompanied the fresh tender fish meat.

Claypot Fish Head Curry - $24

This was the parents' order, at least a vegetable dish among the dishes. The sambal sweet potato leaves was tasty and the plate was eventually polished clean by them.

Sambal Sweet Potato Leaves - $8

The sister approved this! Omelette was fluffy and what's more, they were not stingy with the amount of oysters given. Its good for side dish with the plates of white rice we had.

Oyster Omelette - $10

Though the soury and sweet taste were there,  the pork was crispy and too tough. Its not suitable for elderly's teeth and we would prefer more of meat in bite than biting on the pork lards or flour.

Sweet & Sour Pork - $10

Hong Guan Cooked Food has been quite popular among in the Hawker Centre even since they have shifted from the old place. Overall, their food is decent and stomach comforting if you are looking for a eating place to bring your family for meal.
