Bukit Purmei Lor Mee

Bukit Purmei Lor Mee has revived? Well, this is run by the stall owner's nephew instead. The Original stall was shut down due to the stall owner's health reasons in the past when they were located in Bukit Purmei (Lor Mee @ Bukit Purmei) as well as in West Coast Road. Die-hard fans of Bukit Purmei Lor Mee will sure miss the taste and will want to try it out thus we got to see the streaming long queue lined up in front of the stall.

Bukit Purmei Lor Mee Stall

We waited for about 30 minutes in the queue. They offer Lor Mee in $3.50, $4 & $5 and we had the medium and larger bowl.

Lor Mee - $4

Ingredients stay the same with sliced fish cakes, braised pork belly and slices of char siew while the "Lor" sauce was still light and sticky. Adding on with vinegar, garlic as well as chilli paste, it gave the dish a more savoury note.

Ingredients

Unfortunately, the star item (the deep-fried flour balls) from the Lor Mee was disappointing, texture was tough and a far cry from what we had before. We still prefer the crispy crunchy bits. Hopefully, this 3rd generation can improve on it and do an exact replica of the original taste.

Loh Mee - $5

All in all, the taste was kind of similar but nothing close to what we used to have before in the uncle's stall. If you were to ask if I would make a return trip to get a bowl of Loh Mee, I would say that the bowl is satisfying but not worth my time to purposely make a way down for it. On a side note, the opened parking spaces in front of the coffee shop is rather limited too.
