We managed to find an authentic Italian trattoria in Bukit Timah Road. Al Borgo which means "the village" in Italian offers authentic italian menu with home-style dishes served in a warm and comfortable cosy setting.
We were slightly early for dinner and waited for the restaurant to open.

Upon opening, we were ushered into the restaurant by the friendly staff.

Interior was nothing hipster or fanciful but a typical and down to earth decorations like what you will see from an old-style eating place with paintings.
Homely Decorations |
We are not here for any wine and instead, we ordered a bottle of sparkling water to share.
Sparkling Water - $7 |
This is the part where I like about dining in an Italian restaurant ~ we are always served with baked bread and I enjoyed dipping them with vinegar and olive oil.

Insalata di Portebello - $23 |
The main trip to Al Borgo was actually the reason for a plate of Pappardelle. I have been in a search for a decent plate of Pappardelle and realised that not every Italian restaurant does serve such type of pasta.
Pappardelle comes with beef ragout, porcini mushroom in Al Dente done with light cream sauce. The portion was adequate for an individual or perhaps, if you are ordering other dishes, this will be good for sharing.
Pappardelle Alla Boscaiola - $25 |
The main course Italian dishes we had most of the time were either pasta or pizza and this was the first try having beef steak. The medium doneness charcoal-grilled beef was served with vegetables and roasted potatoes decked up by rocket leaves.
Charcoal Grilled Special Beef of The Day - $38 |
