Full of Crab

Full Of Crab is a casual 60-seater seafood restaurant that offers a utensil-free seafood dining experience. Marinated seafood were served in big plastic bags and customers are to get their bare fingers moving while digging into the crustaceans.

Full of Crab
It looked as if we have entered the seafood shack in the beach and the place had given a laidback feeling, interior build with wooden panels, graffiti and with fishing props like net, crabs and life saver floats.

Interior
Dining tables were all covered with a clean big white sheet of paper in preparation to place our meals on it. Fish stick crackers were served upon settling down at our tables, spread bare onto the white sheet.

Fish Stick Crackers
Menu was very simple and seafood were priced at the market cost.
Full of Crab Menu
Cajun chickens were crispy at the exterior accompanied by mayonnaise dip. It was a little peppery and crystal sugars were seen clinging onto the aromatic golden brown yummy wings!

Cajun Chicken - $10
Part of the restaurant thoughtfulnes to equip their diners with tools to crack open the hard shells of the crustaceans and to dig out the meat which is hard to reach.

Tools Used for Dining
The friendly server comes in a red bucket and took 2 clear bags of food out. I was kinda amazed by their way of serving, the crabs that we had ordered was served in those bags, loaded with cajun and garlic butter chilli gravy. There were 3 choices given, Cajun, Garlic butter or fully loaded to flavour and the level of spiciness is divided into 3 level, mild, medium and hot.

Serving
We had the medium level of spiciness which should keep us perspiring over the meal as indicated on the menu. While the server rolled down the plastic bags, revealing the sexy legs of the King Crab. The portion was actually half the crab, mix in the bag of baby potatoes and Shrimps.

Pirate's Pick (King Crab Legs) - $79
Spikes were seen on the claw.

The claw
The flesh from the king crab was salty.

Part of the King Crab
For captain choice, it consists of Sir Lanka Crab and a side - corn on the cob, as well as shrimps. While I expect its flesh to be sweeter, it was as salty as the Fresh King Crab, I thought it was perhaps the way of their cooking.

Captain's Choice (Sri Lanka Crab) - $94

The shrimps were fresh. However, the rostum was left unprocessed which make it difficult for shrimp's head lover to obtain the "juice" out. The spiciness and heat from shrimp was a challenged for us to remove the shell.

Shrimps
Though it was mild spiciness, the level was more than what we had expected. Level of oiliness from the bag was kind of let down which stop us from having more. The table was full of mess after extracting their flesh. Overall, the dining process was a good experience and a memorable.

Ah Balling Peanut Soup Est. 1947

I remembered craving for Ah Balling Peanut Soup during my childhood days whenever i pass by Golden Mile Food Centre. It used to have the only few traditional flavours,  peanuts, black sesame and red bean but now, they have 6 different kinds of fillings including green tea and yam.

Given the convenience to grab a packet of ah ballings from the supermarket,  I seldom buy them from such stall but it just happened that this stall has its history spoken since 1947 and was one of my childhood spot.

Ah Balling Peanut Soup Est. 1947
Besides that, I can never boiled such grade of peanut soup at home using the preserved canned peanuts. Higher grades of peanuts were used in the soup and were larger in terms of their size with hints of pandan fragrance.

Tang Yuan in Peanut Soup - $1.70 (4 balls)
Every balls were hand made where the rice balls skin is smooth and chewy.

Black Sesame Rice Balls
Sweet tasting roasted peanut filling encased in the glutinous rice balls. Semi sweet with fragrant from the sesame seeds used, it was comparatively good! In fact, given a preference, I would like this to the black sesame filling.

Do make sure you leave some stomach room after your meal in Golden Mile Food Centre. :)

Hainanese Chicken Rice & Curry Chicken Noodles 大坡

Walk deeper into Golden Mile Food Centre and reveal the hidden Gems that hidden at the corner.  With the number of glamorous moments with the stars and articles plastered all over the stall, it is unlikely that we will miss such exaggerations. To add on, their stall was featured in one of the local Television programs "Just Noodles (面对面)" where the best curry noodle was best advocated for.

大坡 Hainanese Chicken Rice & Curry Chicken Noodles

Bowl of curry noodle was flavourful and refreshing. Yellow noodles was softened and does not have the "ki" smell in it. The ingredient that stood out was its meaty pieces of white chicken which was cooked to perfection, succulent and tender, more than words can described. Fried pork skin was included as well, soft and chewy.  Potato was cooked to soften and literally disintegrate at the slightest pressure. Overall, the bowl of Hainanese Curry Chicken Noodle was very tantalizing to the palettes.

Hainanese Curry Chicken Noodle - $5

In conclusion, its undeniably the best curry chicken noodles i had had so far in Singapore and portion comes generous with big chunks of chicken. Most importantly of all, it's delicious!

Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee

Hainan fried Hokkien Prawn Mee? It sounds unusual to me but it had been raved among others. So let us check out how a Hainan Man has changed the destiny of an usual plate of Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee into.

Hainan Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee
The plate of Hainan Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee has a slight tweak as compared to the usual Hokkien Fried Prawn Mee. There is a distinctive use of thinner bee hoon rather than the usual thick bee hoon.

Though it looked very dry and was not that appetizing initially, I was all wrong. The first mouthful had been very impressive , giving me the "wow" factor. Prawn stock had amplified the taste in which every strand of noodles had absorbed it well. Together, it strike a good balance in the wetness, and its neither dry nor wet. Additionally,  a strong wok-hei from both noodle and bee hoon had given an oomph in the dish!

Hokkien Prawn Mee - $3

In conclusion,  it is one of the best hokkien prawn mee that I have eaten. However towards the end of the meal, it find it a little bit dry.

Yuan Chun Famous Lor Mee

Occupying 2 units of hawker spaces, #02-79 and #02-80 and with overheads of about 7 headcounts, the stall is as busy ever. The team of 7 consists of a group of senior citizens, working studiously to keep up its queue. Every helper in the stalls are fully occupied to their entitled roles and were so well organized. The long queues over a Sunday morning has pretty well explain their popularity on a non working / office day.

Yuan Chun Famous Lor Mee is arguably the best Lor Mee I had so far in Singapore to date. Retaining its traditional Hokkien Origins in the dish where the thick brown gravy over ladled over varied items and braised eggs, including its noodles.

Quality of food is taken care of as gravy is separated from the bowl if customers are "taking away".

Lor Bee Hoon (without gravy) - $3 (takeaway)

One can change the traditional flat yellow noodle into Bee Hoon. The bowl of tasty Bee Hoon is make perfect not only with the herb infused gravy but  also for its Ngoh Hiong, wrapped with deep fried beancurd skin, egg, fish cakes, pork dumplings and the flavourful "Lor Bak" (Braised Belly).

It goes more than perfect with a spoonful of vinegar, wakens the taste buds and appetite. Spices used were of balance and was not too overwhelming. Every mouthful was way luscious and well what's more can I say?

Lor Bee Hoon Version
Real scrumptious and highly recommended!

Evertop Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice

Often, we get headaches when it comes to selecting meals for a big group, given the constraints we have to limit our selections over lunch hours. Evertop Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice is quite ideal for Halal dining with ample of dining spaces.

Evertop

Evertop Hainanese Bonless Chicken Rice is relatively popular among my clicks and need no introduction with her history. From a stall occupying a stall under the HDB, they have expanded to its current wide and spacious eating place after its relocation from Tanglin Halt / Commonwealth Drive.

Evertop Bonless Chicken Rice

The poached chicken was the plainest of all style of chicken served with "Achar". Not that oily as it seems with light coating of soy sauce on the smooth and silky white meat.

Poached Chicken
If you are ordering a set meal, it comes complete with a small plate of greens. Sweet oyster sauce with fragrant fried onion over the greens, appetizing isn't it?

Vegetables from the set meal
Dressed in Thai Style with compliments from the sweet and sour sauce it does give a tangy difference to fried chicken.

Thai Style Chicken
Another style they have is its Lemon chicken. Just like the former, its is crisp at its outer layer added with sweetness and tad sourness from the lemon sauce.

Lemon Chicken

Set with soup
Beside having chicken with rice, Evertop operates like a Cze Char place with a long list of dishes that you may want to pair with the main courses. Items like fried tofu, vegetables are all available at your choice.
