Weng Kiang Kee Porridge

Weng Kiang Kee Porridge was one of the Porridge highly raved online and while we are looking for porridge for our breakfast, we decided to give this a try. Though there is no physical queue in front of the stall, we were given a number tag after ordering and were told to wait about 30-45 minutes for our order.

The plain bowl of porridge looked nothing much spectacular. The usual plain white porridge topped with spring onions, fried shallots and fried fritters was something more than I had expected. After stirring and mixing the egg into the porridge, I realised that there are many other ingredients below. Porridge has a good smooth consistency and is not watery at all.

Signature Porridge 招牌粥 - $4.50 + $0.50 (Egg)

The aftertaste of the egg and the porridge was rich and savoury. This bowl of hearty Signature Porridge comprises century egg, cuttlefish, lean meat, meatballs, liver and intestine. There was no gamey taste from the innards too.

The mixed Pig's organs porridge is a scaled-down version of the Signature Porridge with similar ingredients like liver, intestine, meatballs and fried fritters.

Overall, I love the consistency and smoothness of the grains. Though tasty, it still lacks the wow factor that will give me every reason to be back there on purpose.
