En Sushi

En Sushi is known for its high ratings on google and is popular for its freshness as well as quality Japanese food that goes easy on the wallet. It was an impromptu visit to En Sushi and even though I had passed by their walkway numerous times, I have never noticed such a place.

En Sushi

The restaurant is located on the 2nd level of the building. Upon stepping into the area, I feel that the environment is neat and the peaceful atmosphere makes me feel comfortable. The place is equipped with some warm decorations of modern Japanese furnishings.

Dining Area

When it comes to sashimi, my order will definitely go with the swordfish aka Mekajiki. The swordfish was served on a plate of 3 thick-cut slices. Though the texture and bite is there, I find that the sword fish was a tad fishy.

Mekajiki - $9.30

I was looking for some cold sake and was recommended a few by the server. This is one of the recommended sake on the menu. It has a great fragrance of fruity flavour and rich sweetness with the aromas of ripe grapes and apples. It gave a balance of acidity.

Yoshikubo Ippin Junmai Daiginjo - $48 (300ml)

For the sushi section, we ordered the Grilled Unagi eel with teriyaki sauce and Tamago sushi. The taste was pretty decent.

Unagi Sushi & Tamago Sushi - $7.90 & $3.90

We ordered one of the recommended handrolls. This handroll was wrapped with seasoned eel and creamy avocado. Wasabi and ginger slices were given at the side of the Temaki stand.

Unagi Avocado Temaki - $10.40

There is 2 variation of Ika (Squid) to choose from. You can get it in Shio (Salt) or Teriyaki sauce and we chose the latter. The teriyaki sauce was sparingly spread on the squid.

Ika Teriyaki - $16.90

The Katsu Curry Spaghetti is the fusion of Japanese Food with Italian food. The deep-fried breaded chicken was addictive and Japanese Curry with spaghetti was non-spicy.

Katsu Curry Spaghetti - $16.90

Potatoes and carrots are found in the curry and the dish was pretty delightful.

Although it was stated spicy on the menu, this Spicy deep-fried soft-shell crab in torched salmon rice roll was non-spicy to me.

Soft-Shell Crab Salmon Aburi Maki - $20.40

Grab a portion of the roll and you can taste it all in a go, crispy soft-shell crab with refreshing Japanese cucumber with Aburi Salmon and the popping texture from the mentaiko.

The sweet-tasting Japanese pan-fried omelette is one of the favourite orders whenever it comes to dining in Japanese restaurants.

Tamago Yaki - $4.50

The En Sashimi comes in 5 types, namely Salmon, Maguro, Hamachi, Mekajiki and Tako. It will be best if the meat were more chilled. Each type of meat comes in 3 thick slices. Considering the price paid for the amount of slices, it is relatively worth it.

En Sashimi - $32.40

Having a glass of cold drink like this will definitely help a lot especially when the powerful Wasabi rushed up into my nose.

Honey Yuzu - $3.80 (Cold)

Deep-fried seafood tofu comes in a plate of 3 and was accompanied by some prune with mayonnaise sauce for dipping.

Age Kisen Tofu - $6.40

Opted for medium doneness, the 200g sliced beef steak was cut into smaller pieces for sharing and it was best to go with some cheese, fried garlic and spring onions.

Sliced Beef Steak 200g - $30.90

Similarly, this Ebi Salmon Aburi was not spicy. The strong charred Aburi taste with the sauce makes the rice rolls delicious too.

Spicy Ebi Salmon Aburi Maki - $19.40

The Deep-fried chicken with rice aka Tori Katsudon was decent, topped with seaweed and spring onions. The fried chicken layer was kind of soggy though.

Tori Katsudon - $19.40

The savoury steamed egg custard was topped with some bright orange egg roles and texture was seamless. Ingredients include crabstick and mushroom

Chawanmushi - $3.40

Let's order some Yaki / Grill Skewers! The grilled scallop was tightly wrapped with the bacon and comes in 4 pieces per plate. Squeeze some lemon juice to enhance its taste.

Hotate Bacon Yaki - $10.40

Besides having the Hotate aka Scallop, we had Enoki wrapped with bacon.

Enoki Bacon Yaki - $9.40

The grilled chicken was generously coated in its yaki tori sauce and its charred taste was good.

Yakitori - $8.40

We could not get enough of Sashimi and decided to order the mixed sashimi with rice. Besides the raw fishes, it was topped with cut Tamago yaki, cucumber and sprinkled with sesame.

Bara Chirashi Don - $20.80

The ambience of En Sushi is memorable and the food was great. Service was up to the mark and I will definitely like to bring some great company there the next round.
