En Xin, a stall located just next to stall of
Hong Kong Street Jen Poh Kee selling vegetarian food. I'm always curious when it comes to vegetarian food as I felt that its rather interesting how normal meat dishes can turn exactly the same taste or if not the closest taste to the original ones.

En Xin |
A normal sight of vegetarian stalls would consist of few side dishes to go with either bee hoon or rice. However what makes En Xin special is their variety of cook food like fried Carrot cake, roti prata, mee rebus, laksa etc. On top of that, there is a special dish whip up daily.
I took the opportunity to order their vegetarian style of Mee Siam. Though it may be a tad expensive than the usual Mee Siam, I would say that the price matches the portion given or exceeds my expectation. It was far more than what I had expected.

Vegetarian Mee Siam - $3.50 |
The taste of the Mee Siam Gravy was special, not spicy at all. Sweet and sour with a little bitter aftertaste. With the grated peanuts, Zhai Er, Tau Pok and bee hoon, it was close enough to the non-vegetarian ones.

In addition to my main, I had ordered their fried popiah at a dollar. It was not that oily and very cripsy on its skin. As for its fillings, it was rather average.

Fried Popiah - $1 |
I'm rather surprise as I was there on a 15th of the lunar Chinese calendar but there was no long queue at all. For most vegetarian stalls, the chance of getting into long queues is high when visiting them on the 1st or 15th of the lunar Chinese calendar.
