Lawry's The Prime Rib Singapore

Heading to Lawry’s this time round with my sibling. If not for the vouchers, it’s unlikely we would have stepped into such a grand place.

Vouchers

The interior still feels exactly as I remember it from my last visit many years ago. The old English–style wooden counter remains, exuding a classic charm, as we were ushered to our reserved seats within the restaurant.

Into Lawry's The Prime Ribs Restaurant

The familiar leather-bound menu at Lawry’s The Prime Rib Singapore, timeless, elegant, and instantly setting the tone for a classic dining experience.

Menu

We decided on the Prime Rib Dinner and went with the California Cut (160g), the lightest option among the four cuts available. True to its description, it’s ideal for those with a lighter appetite while still offering a satisfying taste of Lawry’s signature prime rib.

At Lawry’s The Prime Rib, every standing rib roast is made from Prime Angus beef, aged for a minimum of 21 days and slow-roasted to bring out its natural tenderness and rich beefy flavour.

Each Prime Rib Dinner is a complete experience on its own, accompanied by their Famous Original Spinning Bowl Salad, creamy US Idaho mashed potatoes, classic Yorkshire pudding, and a side of whipped cream horseradish to complement the beef.

Bread

If no one had told me they were artichokes, I might have mistaken them for egg tarts topped with rocket. These grilled artichokes were served with béarnaise sauce, offering a rich, buttery contrast to their subtly smoky flavour.

This uniquely spells out Lawry’s, their famous house recipe of freshly grated horseradish blended with seasoned whipped cream, adding a sharp yet creamy contrast that perfectly complements the prime rib.

Whipped Cream Horseradish

The Famous Original Spinning Bowl Salad was just as impressive as I remembered. The servers performed the familiar ritual of spinning the salad bowl right in front of us, almost like a short performance at the table. The salad features crisp romaine and iceberg lettuce, baby spinach, shredded beets, chopped egg, and croutons, all tossed with Lawry’s exclusive vintage dressing in a chilled bowl spun over a bed of ice.

Here’s the California Cut (160g), recommended for those with a lighter appetite. Though smaller in portion, it still delivers the signature tenderness Lawry’s is known for. The prime rib is served with US Idaho mashed potatoes, cooked and whipped with milk and butter to achieve a smooth, creamy consistency, a classic American favourite that pairs perfectly with the rich beef jus.

The Yorkshire pudding was included with the order, baked in small skillets until it puffed up beautifully and turned golden brown, making it perfect for soaking up the rich beef jus.

The Lawry’s Truffle Wagyu Burger was a satisfying main that definitely filled the stomach. The glossy brioche bun sandwiched a juicy Wagyu beef patty, paired with truffle aioli, melted Emmental cheese, and baby rocket leaves, with a side of fries to complete the plate.

The brioche buns were beautifully stamped with Lawry’s logo, a small but thoughtful detail that added to the dish’s sense of refinement.

Glossy Buns

A good meal ends with sweet thoughts like this. The Lawry’s Mud Pie is a decadent combination of Häagen-Dazs vanilla and coffee ice cream layered over a digestive biscuit base, finished with a generous drizzle of hot fudge,  a rich and indulgent finale to the meal.

Lawy's Mud Pie

This photo was a clear giveaway of our visit. A complimentary cake was served, and birthday songs echoed from table to table as the staff cheerfully celebrated with diners throughout the restaurant. The atmosphere was lively and festive, and they even offered an instant printed photo to help us remember the moment.

Minced Pork Bros 肉脞兄弟

Minced Pork Bros is by the team behind Roast Paradise, and it’s a spot I’ve been meaning to try for quite some time.

Minced Pork Bros

CDC Vouchers are accepted here, so if you’re in the mood for a modern bak chor mee, you might want to give this a try.

Menu

We had the Original Minced Pork Bros Noodle in Mee Pok, dry style. The noodles were well tossed in a flavourful mix of sauces, accompanied by striking orange fish cake slices, minced pork, and pork balls. The star of the dish was the crispy fried sole fish slice, which brought everything together.

Original Minced Pork Bros Noodle - $6.20

Fish Dumpling Bak Chor Mee (Soup) was generously filled with their signature handmade fish dumplings, boasting a pleasantly QQ and springy texture. The soup was naturally sweet, elevated by vegetables and minced pork. Other ingredients included orange fish cake slices and flavourful minced pork balls, rounding out a comforting and satisfying bowl.

Fish Dumpling Ba Chor Mee (Soup) 鱼胶肉脞面 - $4.80

The dry noodle sauce with chilli was a great reminder of the traditional mee pok we grew up eating,  comforting, though it might be a tad on the saltier side. If you enjoy fish dumplings, also known as “spaceships,” you may want to give their handmade ones a try.

Shui Sheng Mu Seafood 水生木

BGAIN 463 Eating House at Sembawang Drive recently reopened on 22 November 2025 after a renovation. The revamped coffeeshop now features a brightly lit, refreshed environment and houses 10 food stalls, offering diners a more comfortable and vibrant dining experience.

463 BGAIN Eating House

The lineup of stalls is fairly diverse, with options ranging from roasted meats and Muslim and Indian Muslim food to Western dishes, economical rice, and comforting bowls of fish ball noodles.

Stalls

Shui Sheng Mu Seafood is the newly opened zi char stall at BGAIN 463 Eating House, officially starting operations on 22 November 2025. The stall operates daily from 11.30am to 10am, with CDC vouchers and NETS accepted for payment.

Shui Sheng Mu Seafood

They take pride in being Singapore’s first to offer wild-caught Patin fish, setting them apart from the usual zi char offerings.

Can you spot the Patin Fish

Adding to the experience, a chest freezer placed in front of the stall showcases their seafood selection, giving diners a clear view of what’s available.

Showcasing their fish

Enjoy the wild-caught Patin fish prepared in traditional Teochew style, where it is gently steamed and served with plums. The texture is reminiscent of cod, yet cleaner and more delicate in taste.

As the fish is wild-caught rather than farmed, it has no muddy aftertaste. The flesh is silky, almost boneless, and naturally rich in Omega-3. Try this once, and seabass may just become a thing of the past.

Signature Patin Fish

The Handmade Beancurd Skin Prawn Roll was excellent, featuring a light and crispy exterior that perfectly cradles the springy, plump prawn filling within.

Each bite delivers a satisfying contrast of crunch and juicy sweetness.

Dipping the Prawn Roll into the Sauce Given

The Salted Egg French Beans were outstanding. The beans were first blanched before being cooked in the rich salted egg sauce, a method that helps retain their crunch.

This style really suited my taste, striking a perfect balance between texture and flavour.

Its so Yummy!

The Ginger & Vegetable Chicken was delightfully unique, served steamed with a generous layer of minced ginger atop the chicken, garnished with fresh spring onions and coriander.

The chicken wasn’t too tough. It’s one of those dishes that you’ll really enjoy if it suits your taste.

Yummy

Luscious braised pork slices nestled among broccoli. The meat was well-braised, tender, and deeply flavourful, a dish you will truly appreciate if this kind of delicacy is your thing.

We couldn’t help but think how perfect this braised pork would be if paired with a traditional pau.

Braised Pork was good

With the range of unique dishes we ordered, Shui Sheng Mu Seafood proves that it’s more than just a neighbourhood cze char stall. The creativity and quality of the dishes elevate familiar flavours, taking the usual cze char experience to a whole new level.

There are eight freshly brewed soup bases to choose from, catering to a wide range of taste preferences. Standout options include the robust Peeled Chilli Chicken Soup, aromatic Curry Soup, and the Japanese Milky Seafood Soup, known for its rich and comforting flavours.

8 Signature Soup Bases

Other soothing choices include the Tomato Soup, Japanese Bonito Soup, Szechuan Mala Soup, Clear Chicken Soup, and the nourishing Nine Herbs Chicken Soup, ensuring there’s something for every hotpot lover.

The peeled chilli chicken soup base had a lively, aromatic kick without ever overpowering the rest of the bowl. Tender chicken simmered with the chillies gave the broth a clean, fragrant heat and a savoury depth that lingered in a really memorable way.

Peeled Chilli Chicken Soup

The Japanese milky seafood broth reminded me of a sole-based fish soup, with that gentle ocean sweetness and a creamy, full-bodied texture. It was rich without feeling heavy, pure comfort in a bowl.

Japanese Milky Seafood Soup

To keep everything fresh, the meat and seafood were served to order via QR code. The selection was impressively broad, beef, pork, chicken, and lamb slices, plus seafood options like fish head, fish meat, clams, squid, and tiger prawns.

I was also surprised (in a good way) to see extras like golden fried egg and marinated pork liver on the menu.

For beef lovers, we went all out with their AUS / USA sliced Wagyu alongside classic USA sliced beef thinly cut, well-marbled, and perfect for hotpot dipping.

Beefy Business

The tender, thin beef slices needed only a few seconds in the bubbling hotpot before being devoured,  rich, juicy, and delicious even on their own without dipping sauce.
