Malaysia Boleh - Curry Chicken Mee

Malaysia Boleh, a flagship foodcourt style setting, a one stop place where we get to enjoy varieties of Malaysia dishes is situated at level 3 of Jurong Point Shopping Mall.

A hearty malaysian style chicken laksa is what I yearn for! Unlike any other curry mee, what Malaysia Boleh offered is different.

Curry Chicken Mee - $4
Condiments include, white chicken with smooth skin(oh yammy!), few small slices of fish maw, tau pok and yellow noodles. Yellow noodles are of a different texture as size. They are slightly smaller in diameter as compared to the usual ones we eat at the hawker center. Yellow mee does not have much "ki" smell. The laksa soup is light but flavorful. Although it is quite sinful to have meals with coconut especially after 8pm, I will still think my try out for chicken laksa worth the calories.

Da Pu Ke Jia Niang Dou Fu

After consecutive weeks of enjoying the braised duck delights from Happy Hawkers, I had finally switched the choice of my appetite and headed for their Yong Tau Foo.

Normally Yong Tau Foo will not really appeal to me unless there is something special about it. In this case, it's the Hakka's and it seems like I cant order without leaving the hawker.

Yong Tau Foo
So far as I know, the Hakka version is known for its "Q" noodles laded with tasty minced meat on the them as they served. The usual YTF items is usually selected by the customer, placed them in a bowl and handed over to the helpers but in this case, items were fixed and no selection is needed.

Dishes available
The helpers were just too generous with the portion of Noodles and minced meat. The noodles was springy and mee pok look-alike just that they are slimmer in width. It was complimented by the delicious minced meat coated in dark sauce and crunchy stalks of vegetables.

Hakka Noodles
Who says plain look YTF is no good? Well, the taste of soup is simply out of my expectation! Items included were fresh and yummy!

So Pho

Vietnamese Cuisine is very common nowadays and easily spotted in the malls and I had noticed they are getting popular. So Pho is located in the basement of JEM with a spacious dining area.

So Pho - Vienamese Cafe
It's concept of dining was straight forward and open where anyone who passes by their restaurant can actually have a full overview of it.

Dining Area

Before we could actually grab our meals, So Pho recommended that its ok to chew noisly with our mouth wide open to have a UN-PHO-GETTABLE experience in So Pho.

Words for Customer

Personally, I had gradually enjoyed Vietnamese Cuisine after my trip to vietnam many years back and often my meals cant go without a big bowl of their Staple Pho and Summer Rolls. Thus, without much flipping of the menu, I already knew what will be my dishes.

Menu
Their Vietnam imported Chilli sauce is readily available on every table.

Vietnam Chilli Sauce
Pho Dac Biet is classified under one of their chef's recommendation  which inclide Slice Beef, Brisket and Beef Balls with Vietnamese Pho in the fragrant soup. Having tasted their competitors Pho, I would say theirs are one of the better ones I had where the soup was light and tasty, not really loaded with MSG.

Pho Dac Biet - $9.80
The beef balls comes in a pair and perhaps a coincidence that I had them "glued" together. It tasted abit mushy for me and I prefer something that requires a little more force to bit on.

Beef Balls

While the brisket and sliced beef are heavenly soaked in the delightful and nutritious broth with big cut of onions and garnish.

Beef
For those who want to skip the beef version may order the chicken Pho, the taste of broth has a slight difference. And one can actually request garnish to be separated from the noodle dish.

Chicken Pho - $8.80
Capture the essence of Vietnamese dining with their delicious appetiser. We had the best platter with everything combined, prawn cake, summer roll and fried spring roll. Everything is fine but the standard of summer roll was abit lacking, the wrap was somehow too thick and the common peanut sauce that we are used to was not served.

Khai Vi Tong Ho'p - $10.80
Here we have something not noodles! The grilled lemon chicken set came with rice and will be a wiser choice if you want something filling. Set includes a sunny side up egg and delicious strips of chicken covered in good scent of lemongrass.

Grilled Lemon Chicken Set - $9.80
I spotted something new to me on their menu and decided to try out this ginger beverage that contain roasted peanuts. It tasted like plum drink to me added with some crunch.

Gingle

Overall though I find they are doing not bad, I still prefer Pho Hoa's Pho. However in terms of distance to where I'm residing and convenience, they are still one of the better choice to enjoy a decent Vietnamese Cuisine.

Fried Carrot Cake

Chai Tow Kway for my breakfast. Uniquely Singapore! Packed with fragrance! It's not easy to get hold of a packet of good fried carrot cake from Clementi market and food centre on weekdays morning and even weekends as it requires at least 10 minutes of queuing time.

Once I open the packet of fried carrot cake gave a very strong aroma that diffuses through my office corridor. Hungry ones will follow the lead of this fragrance and come into my cubicle and check it out.

A packet of well seared chai tow kway shaped in a square due to the packaging is full of carrot cake and egg smell with adequate taste of sweet dark sauce. It's pretty addictive.

Soon Lee Fishball Noodles

Soon Lee Fishball Noodles is best remembered for its Noodles Dry with their kind of special home made chilli that make a ordinary bowl of Fishball Noodles feel different. It comes with a few permutations dry or soup with noodles of your choice. In this case, I had opted for its Mee Pok Dry, the smaller version.

Previously their portion was too little but it seems like everything was back to normal and I'm pretty happy. Noodles was springy and not to mentioned the meal comes with minced meat, dumplings, fish cakes as well as meatball. Pork Lard was used to enhance the fragrance of the noodles, even though it may sounds a little bit unhealthy, it's still worthwhile.

Fishball Noodles - $2.50 (Small)
Soup was tasty with the use of "dong cai" and for small version, we get 3 "balls" in a bowl but if you are ordering the $3 (big) portion, you get to have an increase in the quantity of noodles and the number of "balls" to 5.

Soup that comes with dry version of noodles

Remember do try out their dry version if you can take some spice!

Xi Men Jie

Xi Men Jie, its name comes direct from the streets of Taiwan Night Market where good food are found. The stall never fails to provide a variety of Taiwanese snacks on its menu especially some of the authentic kinds like braised pork rice and beverages like Pearl Milk Tea.

Xi Men Jie is easily spotted at the ground level of West Mall shopping mall, just at the entrance f you are coming from the MRT Station.

Oyster Chicken Floss Mee Sua - I thought it was something new to have with chicken floss in mee sua until i found out that the chicken floss was actually shredded chicken not the usual "bah hu" in my mind. Nevertheless, the meal still taste as authentic with few oysters included and vinegar adding to its taste.

Chicken Floss Mee Sua - $4
Sweetness of drinks were on the average side.

For those who wish to skip the crowd in the food court over peak hours, Xi Men Jie may be one of the spots you may consider though there is no air conditioned environment available.  Having said that, for those who are craving for some Taiwanese snack, this is somewhere you can hit on!

Cakespade - Revisited

Visited Cake Spade again the following week after I have blogged their here.

I had purposely made another visit to try out two of their cakes which was strongly advocated by one of my net pals.

The name "Toufu" cheese cake was suggestive and indeed the layer of cheese that was caught in between the digestive biscuits and the strawberry jelly was wobbly, just like Tofu.

Fresh strawberries has topped the cake encased by a layer of red jelly. Texture was good however the taste of the cake was somehow overwhelmed by the Jelly.

Strawberry Toufu Cheese Cake - $5.90

It was my first time trying Red Velvet cake. Layers of sponge cake had a better moisture than most cakes. It came with alternating vanilla creams while the top and side was covered with luscious cream cheese icing.

Red Velvet - $5.90
After trying 4 types of their cakes (including my first entry), I will still what I had in my former write up.
