Steamed Healthy. Stewed Soup

Steamed Healthy.Stewed Soup, a new stall that had taken over Pontian's Wanton Mee Stall in West Coast Market and Food Centre. Patrons have one more choice for healthier food now. It seems rather interesting to have people carrying dishes of steamed trays walked pass us as they are the only one in the hawker centre with special "plates".

Stall Front

Price quoted on their signboard does not include white rice, if you want then you have to top up at addtional price of $0.50. The steamed patties tasted great with preserved vegetables in between the meat and the amount of soya sauce had blended in well.

Steamed Pork Patties with Preserved Vegetables + Veg - $3.80
While the steamed egg tasted close to the meat patties above. The dish will be a little salty if one was to eat without rice.

Steamed Egg with Minced Meat + Veg - $2.80
The "Veg" (the side dish) that comes with every meal. Braised peanuts was given and was rather crunchy accompanied with white rice.

The Veg that comes in the meal

Their specialties in healthy food had attracted health watchers at an attractive pricing. I will definitely make a return to try out more on other kinds of dishes offered.

San You Xiao Chu

San you Xiao Chu is located at the entrance of Changi Airport Terminal Food Court, KOPI offering a good spread of Zichar dishes at an affordable pricing.

San You Xiao Chu
Ordered my last dinner in Singapore for this November and was a mistake to order its seafood Mui Fan. The standard of food was below par, the portion was rice was too much with miserable seafood toppings. Though gravy was sufficiently pour onto the the mini wok, the taste was rather bland and starchy. In the end, I left about 3/4 of the food untouched. Sighs.

Shredded Chicken Macaroni

Hainanese Chicken Rice is located in Kopitam at level 3 of IMM. Out of so many eateries in the mall, Kopitiam is perhaps the most economical way of dining after the shopping sprees.

Hainanese Chicken Rice Stall
The stall had a few bowls of macaroni prepared and my dinner was served in minutes. A bowl of Macaroni soup as comfort food, light enough for dinner and was not greasy even with shredded chicken added. Condiments like spring onions were added by the customers.

The macaroni tasted alright, soft with substantial amount of shredded chicken added. I guess the only let down was its broth, I would prefer more fragrance and sweetness from chicken instead the bland taste. However, I still find that if you want a light meal, this is a great choice apart from the dim sums.

Let's Clap [Closed]

Being a regular shopper in Jurong Point Mall , Let's Clap has never been in my mind for meals as it is often forgotten due to its location (They are located outside the mall). Being such a regular, there were not much choice of food and we decided to explore the eateries out of the mall. As we stepped out of the mall, the "No Service Charge, nett" sign was quite prominent and without much hesitation, our dining place was decided.

Zi Char Dishes

Let's Clap main dishes were its crabs served in different sauces. However, we decided to go for lighter meal for the night and had them a skip.

Let's Clap signature dishes

Upon sitting down, this menu was handed over to us. The menu looked torn with scotch tape all over and as if flipping it would get any page detached. Do flip them carefully.

Old Menu

The entire place was rather spacious and I felt that eating Zi Char with a better environment enclosed with air-conditioned and great spots lights from the ceilings. The place was brightly lighted, look at the amount of lights installed on the ceiling.

Lightings & Crowd

Interior Seatings

We cant go without drinks on every meal and these herbal drinks were sealed and stored in the chiller.

Small Wheat Grass & Longan Luo Han Drink - $1.80 Each
It's been long since I had the "Wet" style of bee Hoon from Zi Char. I would say that the taste was average, not too much of excitement in the food. But bear with me a little, I have to rant that the Seafood like the Sotongs and Sliced Fish were rather stinky, not that they were not fresh but rather the way how they were prepared. Perhaps by adding some ginger slices would have reduced the smell.

Portion of Bee Hoon -$8 (Medium)

Perhaps this is the best out of 3 dishes ordered. The salty tasting from the preserved beans with a little bit of spiciness from the chopped chilli had rounded up the dish with the fragile Toufu.

Mapo Toufu -$8 (Small)

Personally I'm quite particular with the quality when it comes to such a common dish which is also my favourite dish in Zi Char. The taste of sweet and sour was fair enough however when it comes to the meat portion, I'm totally disappointed. Felt really shortchanged with the amount of meat coated under the batter and sweet sour sauce. There were far too much fat than meat given. :(

Sweet & Sour Pork -$10 (Small)
Total Cost for 2 Pax: $29.60. In summary, their food was rather standard. Why was it crowded? Perhaps in the mall, the price of Zi Char from Restaurants were over budget and their "No Service Charge" rate was pretty attractive.

Taiwanese Speciality @ Changi Airport Terminal 3 Kopi

We decided to have some Asian Dishes before we hit off to Western Australia and munch on the burgers and chips. Taiwanese Specialty is located in the basement food court, Kopi in Changi Airport Terminal 3.

Stall Front
The bowl of braised beef noodle was made up of braised egg, beef, preserved vegetables and noodles. The beef taste was quite close to what we had in taiwan with the preserved vegetables. However the soup was quite bland and did not really fall within expectation.

Braised Beef Noodles
Fried Guo Tie was ordered as well. At least, this time round the Guo Tie did not taste like those packets of frozen food from supermarket. They were fried to golden brown in color and required some waiting time before serving.

Guo Tie (8 Pcs)

It's piping hot! Look at the amount of fillings! The minced pork was accompanied by chopped chives and was pipping hot wrapped under the thin crispy outer fried layer. Quite juicy and not that oily as expected. It's best to served with vinegar and ginger strips just like the steamed version!

Hainanese Chicken Rice with Bean Sprouts

This is probably one of the well-liked Hainanese chicken rice stall in the west coast vicinity
$3 for a set of 1 person meal truly satisfy my hunger during mid day. Set meals and portion are clearly stated on the signed board in chinese.

Hainanese Bean Sprouts Chicken Rice is located just at a corner of Ayer Rajah Food Centre.

What makes it so special is that they have make it with less oil without compromising its flavor. With the strong chicken fragrance steamed rice paired with the tenderness of meat cum a light taste of soya sauce at the base of the plate. A good plate of chicken rice must always come with good chilli, theirs was great tasting with garlic taste!

1 Person Meal - $3

To make a healthier meal, strands of cucumber and bean sprouts are the greens which one needs daily. Chicken are served, skinless. The bowl of soup was full of chicken essence. It was not just any type of plain soup and is refillable at your request.

Chicken Meat

In summary, $3 for a plate of single pax chicken rice is relatively reasonable. It would be better if sign boards could be written in bilingual form. My European colleague had issues making order as she could not understand the Chinese wordings.

Power Rojak Bandung

Power Rojak Bandung is one of famous Rojak stall that had won a few consecutive years of awards from Makansutra as seen from the number of certificates sticked on its stall. Having said this, their rojak served is no closer to those Indian Rojak but rather similar to our chinese mixed fruits and fried fritters rojak.

Service is consumer friendly I felt especially when it was stated self service but the helper offered to deliver the dish to my table.

The stall is famous and specialised in Rojak. There was  a handful of varieties offered and we were just simply spoilt for choices.

It caught my curiosity when my eyes spotted someone on the hawker tables having Bee Hoon with Kang Kong Cuttlefish I thought. After checking out with them, I had got myself a plate of Rojak Bandung.

This marked my first time trying such dish. From what I had eaten, the dish was perhaps a modified version of a plate of Rojak with bee hoon added. It left me with a good impression with her service as well as food.

The plate of Rojak Bandung was showered with grated peanuts.

Rojak Bandung - $5 (Before Mixing)

I had them mixed well with the peanuts and sauce, added with a squeeze of lime juice giving a tangy refreshing taste, ta-da the dish is ready to be consumed.Generous amount of cuttlefish was given with kang kong, cucumber, Tau Pok,pineapples and beansprouts.

Rojak Bandung after mixing

If you like Rojak, I bet you will like this as well. Overall, I find that the Chilli is very "power" and their dishes were well rated as claimed by makansutra!
