Subseom Noodles 섶섬한그릇

Jeju’s beauty truly sets the mood! Passing by Subseom Noodles while starting the Jeju Fantasy Bicycle Path felt like discovering a hidden gem along the stunning coast.

The calming blue sky, volcanic ash rocks, lush greens, and endless sea views were breathtaking. Add the cool air and a hearty Korean breakfast is definitely a pure luxury!

One delightful aspect of Korean cuisine is the banchan that accompanies every meal. What makes it even more interesting is how the selection of banchan varies from place to place in Korea. Each meal feels like a new experience. In contrast, Korean restaurants in Singapore tend to offer a more predictable spread, with familiar items like kimchi, beansprouts, and fishcake making frequent appearances. It takes away a bit of the surprise, making the Korean dining experience back home feel less adventurous.

Top Shell Seafood Pancake & Banchan

The Top Shell Seafood Pancake was a delightful surprise! Packed with generous seafood and veggies, it had a perfect balance of ingredients to batter — totally exceeded expectations.

Here comes something I’ve been eagerly waiting for , Abalone Porridge! It was such a comforting experience to start the day with a warm bowl of porridge for breakfast. What caught me off guard, though, was its vibrant green color. I don’t recall ever having porridge like this before, so while I was excited, I did admit the unusual hue left me slightly hesitant at first.

Curiosity got the better of me, and after a bit of research, I learned that the green color comes from grinding the shells of the shellfish. It added a unique touch to the dish, making this breakfast even more memorable.

Digging my spoon into the pillow-soft porridge, I discovered more surprises hidden within, tender slices of abalone and pieces of top shell. Each bite added a delightful contrast in texture, making the experience even more satisfying. Best of all, I felt accomplished knowing I could finally strike this off my list of must-eats in Jeju.

In general, the locals we met in Jeju were warm and welcoming, and service was never a concern throughout our trip. This breakfast was no exception, it was a memorable meal that added to the charm of our experience in Jeju.
