Ho Kee

Its time to revisit some of my favourites porridge stall, yeah! Back to the gluey porridge at Maxwell market that warms the stomach. With Ho Kee expansion of their buns empire in the malls, it often slipped off my mind that they do sell porridge too.

Simply love the texture of the pipping hot porridge from Ho Kee. It is smooth and thick, perhaps even if its just the plain porridge alone that I will be eating, its fine with me.

Pork Porridge - $4

Chicken Porridge - $3.50

With so many porridge stalls incoporating Yu Sheng to their menu, having them only in Chinese New Year is no longer my practice. In fact, once in a while I will like to have them in my meals.

This is my first time trying out Ho Kee's raw fish and was amazed by the portion. For similar price at most places, I will only get half the portion at most. I love it when it comes to eating "yu sheng" (raw fish) as they are always fragrant with sesame oil marinate and colorfully dressed up by the garnishing. In this case, Ho Kee's Yu Sheng is filled with chopped spring onion, fried onion, chopped chilli, lime and loaded with sesame seeds.

Raw Fish - $5

You can enjoy the raw fish by dipping into the bowls of hot porridge or have them raw after mixing them well in the garnishing. My style of eating is probably the common way among my friends who enjoy the same dish as I do, I will these raw slices pop into my mouth to enjoy it at its fullest condition.

A mouthful of Yu Sheng / Raw Fish

Besides having porridge and raw fish, one may also get to enjoy Ho Kee's traditional Pau at the stall just beside them.
